After more than a week, Luo Xing did not appear in front of Lin Suiyan and Su Yuli.

Su Yuli made a new friend.

After starting work, Su Yuli took one day a week to go to Ding Yuan’s part-time work place, and then went to the nursing home with Ding Yuan to see Old Lin and Grandma Ding.

At noon that day, Su Yuli was about to pick up Ding Yuan when he got off work. Just after turning a corner, an electric scooter suddenly appeared from the side.

Su Yuli hurriedly stepped on the brakes, but he was still a step late, only to hear a “bang!” The man and his scooter flew out several meters away.

Su Yuli’s mind “buzzed.” His face suddenly turned pale, and his whole body seemed to be soaked in ice water. It took several seconds for Su Yuli to open the car door with his trembling hands and get out of the car.

In this short period of time, people had already gathered around. Su Yuli quickly stepped forward, and saw that the man was wearing a helmet on his head and lying on the ground clutching his arm. He didn’t know how bad the injury was.

He looked at the ground subconsciously, but saw no blood.

Su Yuli rushed to the man on the ground and said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t see you just now… Don’t worry, I won’t run away. I’ll call an ambulance now.” He took out his mobile phone and dialed 120.

“No need.” The man on the ground sat up, clutching his right arm, “No need to call an ambulance.”

It was only then that Su Yuli could see his face clearly. He was a young man in his twenties. He looked clean and delicate, and looked very harmless.

The young man had sweat on his forehead. His lips were pale, his brows were furrowed, and he was clearly enduring great pain.

Su Yuli said, “That won’t do. You have to go to the hospital.”

The young man smiled bitterly: “Going to the hospital, but it’s not that serious. Just a little pain in my arm, but nothing else.” He grit his teeth and was about to get up.

Su Yuli hurriedly helped him, and when he saw the young man was still insisting, he said: “Well, don’t call an ambulance. I’ll take you to the hospital. Let’s get them to check it. I think it’s quite serious.”

The young man nodded and got into Su Yuli’s car under the eyes of the onlookers.

Suiyan rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news, and when he saw Su Yuli, he asked with concern, “What’s the matter? Are you injured?”

“I’m fine.” Su Yuli touched his nose, a little embarrassed that he had done something wrong, “I just accidentally hit someone.”

“How’s the situation?”

After Lin Suiyan finished speaking, it seemed that he didn’t want to increase Su Yuli’s nervousness, and soothed: “Don’t worry. No matter what, we will be responsible to the end until he’s healed.”

After listening to Lin Suiyan, Su Yuli, in turn, comforted Lin Suiyan, “The crash was not as serious as you think …”

During the conversation, the doctor came over, and Su Yuli quickly inquired about the situation.

“Good luck, it’s just bruises and a sprain.” The doctor pushed his glasses up onto the bridge of his nose, “He just needs to go back and rest for a while.”

Su Yuli let out a long sigh of relief, and Lin Suiyan’s slightly furrowed eyebrows also relaxed. Su Yuli relaxed, smiled and thanked the doctor.

“It’s okay.” The doctor is a slightly fat middle-aged man who looks very kind and good. He said, “But young man you should pay attention to safety next time you drive. This is not only for yourself, but also for your family and others.”

Su Yuli nodded and said, “Okay, I will definitely pay attention next time.”

Su Yuli and Lin Suiyan sent the young man back.

In the car, Su Yuli said, “By the way, Gao Peng, let’s exchange our contact information.” When they were in the hospital, they’d exchanged names.

Seeing Gao Peng’s hesitant expression, Su Yuli said, “Don’t worry. I don’t want to do anything. Let’s just exchange contact information. If you have any discomfort, you can contact me as soon as possible.”

He glanced at Lin Suiyan in the driver’s seat and said to Gao Peng, “We will be responsible for you until you recover.”

Gao Peng said: “It’s just a minor injury. I’ll be fine in a few days.” He said that but he still added Su Yuli’s WeChat.

Not long after adding him as a friend, Gao Peng received a sum of money from Su Yuli on his mobile phone.

Gao Peng stared down at the phone for a long time without moving. He seemed to be stunned for a while and didn’t know how to react. After a while, he looked up and said, “Wen Jin, you are… I can’t take this money.” He wanted to transfer the money back.

Su Yuli stopped him and said, “Just take it. You’re working alone in City A, and there’s no one to take care of you. Now that you have injured your arm, it’s inconvenient to work. This can be regarded as a late work and nourishment fee. You can buy yourself something to eat.”

Lin Suiyan also said: “Mr. Gao, just keep it. This will make us feel better, too.

Gao Peng: “That- That’s fine then.”

They soon arrived at the place where Gao Peng lived and he got out of the car.

Su Yuli waved to Gao Peng through the car window: “Then we’ll go back first. Please remember to contact me if you need anything.”

Gao Peng nodded: “Okay.”

After Lin Suiyan’s car merged into the traffic and disappeared, Gao Peng withdrew his eyes. He seemed to be in a good mood. He bowed his head and sent a message to someone. After that he threw away his mobile phone and entered the neighborhood.

Because of this accident, Su Yuli failed to pick up Ding Yuan and didn’t go to the nursing home. He first called Old Lin, and said that he had something to do. He would go to see the old man another day. Then he called Ding Yuan.

“I’m sorry Xiao Yuan, something happened suddenly.” Su Yuli scratched his forehead and said, “Well… while driving… I accidentally hit someone.”

Hearing what he said, Ding Yuan immediately became nervous. Then he asked: “What happened? How was the collision? Is it serious? Are you injured?”

Su Yuli felt warmed and said, “Don’t be worried. I’m fine.”

Next to him came Yang Shuo’s voice, who seemed to be asking what was wrong.

Su Yuli’s hearing was very good, and he immediately snorted: “Brother Shuo? Xiao Yuan, Brother Shuo is with you?”

It was Yang Shuo who answered him. Yang Shuo hummed briefly and said, “Xiao Jin, what’s the matter? Did you crash into someone?”

Su Yuli told him what happened. People are like this. In the face of good friends, they can’t hide anything. Whether it’s bad luck or happy things, they want to share.

After finishing speaking, Su Yuli said, “I was really scared to death.”

Yang Shuo said: “Next time, don’t drive by yourself. Don’t you have a driver?”

Su Yuli knew that he was worried about him, so he agreed.

This topic was quickly put aside by them and turned to other things.

In front of him, Lin Suiyan bowed his head and returned a message. When he turned his head to look behind him, he saw Su Yuli sitting in the back seat, arguing with Yang Shuo with one leg crossed.

Su Yuli: “Nonsense, Grandma Ding must like me more. Every time I go with you, the bananas Grandma Ding gives me are sweeter than those given to you.”

Yang Shuo laughed and scolded: “Nonsense, you only ate one. How do you know that yours is sweeter than mine? Have you tasted it?”

Su Yuli had just been frightened. Now that he knew that Gao Peng was okay, his mood was very relaxed. He smiled and said: “I don’t need to taste it I can see it with my eyes. And I’m so handsome, Grandma Ding definitely likes me more.” He also raised his voice and shouted out to Grandma Ding, asking her to agree.

Over there, Yang Shuo repeated Su Yuli’s words to the old woman, and Grandma Ding answered.

Yang Shuo said, “Grandma said she likes me more.”

Su Yuli laughed: “I heard it all, Brother Shuo, you are so dishonest.”

Yang Shuo also laughed.

Back home, Aunt Xu made soup to calm Su Yuli.

Su Yuli finished a bowl of soup comfortably and said, “Suiyan, Aunt Xu, I don’t know how to repay you for being so kind to me.”

Aunt Xu said, “Don’t say that, Xiao Jin. If you are safe and sound, we will all be relieved.”

Lin Suiyan also said: ” Xiao Jin, you have to remember that there are so many people who care about you behind you. So you have to be careful about everything you do, and not let us worry.”

Su Yuli nodded seriously, he recalled what happened during the day, and sighed lightly: “I really didn’t see Gao Peng. It was so sudden. I didn’t even have a chance to react. Luckily, I wasn’t driving fast, otherwise…”

Lin Suiyan gave him another bowl of soup.

Su Yuli said, “Suiyan, I think I’ve had a lot of bad luck these days.”

Lin Suiyan hummed, indicating that he was listening.

“Look at me these days. First, I was in a car accident. Then I fell into some water and then I was nearly hit by a bottle of wine. Today, I almost crashed into someone. My luck is really bad. Why don’t we go to a temple one weekend to get rid of the bad luck.”

Lin Suiyan said, “If you want to go, just go.”

He thought that Su Yuli was either busy at school or in the company during this time. He was very busy. It would be good to go out for a walk and relax.

“Really?” Su Yuli’s eyes lit up.

Lin Suiyan said, “Where do you want to go?”

“Where do you want to go?” Su Yuli repeated in a low voice, seeing Lin Suiyan lowering his head to drink the soup. He didn’t know what to think, and a wicked look crossed his eyes.

Su Yuli looked around like a thief, and when Aunt Xu went to the kitchen, he leaned into Lin Suiyan’s ear and whispered, “Then let’s go to the Guanyin Temple1, I heard it’s very accurate there.”

Lin Suiyan: “…”

Seeing Lin Suiyan’s speechless appearance, Su Yuli’s eyes were full of a mischievous smile.

After being stunned for a while, Lin Suiyan also laughed, and he said warmly, “Okay, it’s up to you.”

Su Yuli blinked, “Ah? Are you really going?” He was a little confused, “But would it be bad for two men to go to the Guanyin Temple?”

His original intention was to tease Lin Suiyan, to let him forget about the car accident and relax.

Lin Suiyan said, “No, it’s fine.”

He also glanced in the direction of the kitchen, and his low voice held a smile made Su Yuli’s heart tremble, “Xiao Jin said this because he thinks he didn’t work hard enough as a husband, but before we go to worship Guanyin, we have to let her see our sincerity.”

Lin Suiyan gave Su Yuli a small milk-flavored steamed bun. “Eat more, and you will have strength later after you’re full.”

How could Su Yuli not be able to hear what Lin Suiyan meant? His ears were already red, but he pretended to be calm and said, “Ah, what do you want … to do? I… I don’t work.”

Lin Suiyan smiled slightly: “You’ll know in a while.”

The next day Su Yuli bared his teeth as he sat on a soft cushion drinking porridge, eager to go back to the night before and beat himself to death.

1.Guanyin is often worshipped as a fertility goddess who can give children to young couples.  According to Wikipedia: An old Chinese superstition involves a woman who, wishing to have a child, offers a shoe to Guanyin. In Chinese culture, a borrowed shoe sometimes is used when a child is expected. After the child is born, the shoe is returned to its owner along with a new pair as a thank you gift- this isn’t important. I just thought it was interesting.

TL: Anyone else sometimes forget that “Su Yuli” isn’t what the other character’s know him as? It’s a bit jarring when I see Wen Jin pop up…
