In the happy atmosphere, a down-and-out middle-aged man was completely out of tune with the entire restaurant atmosphere.

When Alvin was holding Ginny to make her happy, the middle-aged man leaned over, put his elbows on the bar, turned to Alvin, and looked at the lively crowd with a bit of loneliness.

“Bring me a glass of whiskey.”

The look in the man’s eyes was very familiar to Alvin. JJ’s eyes were like this when he first came here. They were not murderous but instead very numb. He looked like a corpse, more like a machine than a living person, and he was injured. Yes, there was a strong smell of disinfectant and blood on the body.

Alvin looked at him, in this happy atmosphere, and he did not want to spoil the fun and only beer was free today anyway. He took a glass and poured a glass of whisky and pushed it in front of him. With a smile, he said, “I hope you have a good night.”

The man shook his head with a wry smile and said, “Can we chat?”

“About what?” Alvin asked curiously.

The man sighed and said hesitantly, “About that child.” As he spoke, his eyes pointed to the ceiling.

Alvin was a little confused, and with a bit of alertness, he said coldly, “Who? Nick? Who are you?”

The man drank the whisky in the glass, covered his face in pain, and said, “Who am I? I’m a bad husband, an irresponsible father, and a fool who didn’t know what was the most important thing in life.”

Alvin looked at the man thoughtfully, and called Jessica over to take care of Ginny, “Ginny, play with Sister Jessica for a while, okay? Dad has something to do.”

Jessica ran over with a flush of excitement on her face. But she found that the atmosphere seemed a little wrong. Seeing the downcast man, Jessica said, “It’s you, you’re here again.” Turning to Alvin, she said, “He’s been here for several days, and I wanted to tell you this afternoon. He seems to have something to talk about.”

Alvin nodded to show that he understood, and handed Ginny to Jessica: “Jessica, take my princess upstairs and play for a while. I have something to do here.”

He kissed Ginny on the cheek and watched Jessica take Ginny upstairs.

“Let me guess, you are Nick’s father who only exists on the phone?” Alvin asked sharply, ignoring the man’s pain.

The man didn’t care about Alvin’s tone and said in a low voice, “Yes, I am that irresponsible father.” Then he pushed the glass to Alvin, “Please bring me a glass.”

Alvin poured him another full glass of whiskey and watched him drink it all without speaking. Alvin knew that the man had a lot to say, and he just had to be a good listener.

“I was the best special forces commander in this country! I was born and died for this country! I even gave up my family life! I didn’t even see for myself when Nick was born!” The man once again pushed the empty glass to Alvin.

Alvin could feel the anger in the man’s tone, some for himself and some for the country. He needed a little alcohol and a good listener. He shed a whole bottle of whiskey to the man, indicating that he was listening.

The man picked up the bottle and took a swig, “I was born and died for this country, but my wife and son were bombed. My wife died, and my son lost his left leg. Those damn politicians hid the bad news and put me on a one-year mission. These sons of a bitch just treat me like a machine and think our lives, our families are worthless! Those murderers, those Italian mafia sons of bitches. Yes, they were on the loose until I find them and put them in the meat grinder.”

Alvin swallowed his saliva. He knew about this matter. The Italian mafia “Cesare” family in the port area, a family of more than 40 people, were all killed, stuffed into a meat grinder, and ground into meat sauce. A large family was finally loaded into two coffins and were buried in a hurry. As a result, a guy came and told him that he did it! It was a little too exciting! There were no good people in the Cesare family, this was recognized! But the motherfucker even killed the cat and the dog, this guy was a living king of hell!

The man ignored Alvin’s slightly changed face and took a sip of wine, “What hurts me the most is that my former best comrade in arms also tried to hide the truth of the matter and tried to prevent me from taking revenge. Just told me that Nick was still alive and gave me the address here.”

Alvin complained in his heart, ‘Even I dare not tell you with your temperament!’ 46 people in the “Cesare” family, including bodyguards, subordinates, and 16 guests were all killed. Even a small war wouldn’t kill so many people!

“I’ve been here for a few days now, thank you! Thank you! Not only because you saved Nick’s life, but now that Nick is fine, I never thought Nick would be like this.” The man’s eyes glowed, “Although he is missing one leg, but he is still cheerful, sunny, with no inferiority complex. I don’t know how you did it, but thanks mate!”

Alvin waved his hand, poured himself a glass of whiskey, took a sip, and said, “Have your troubles been resolved? I mean troubles outside of the Cesare family. You know I think of Nick as my family, and you are just a former phone father, you only exist in Nick’s fantasy. If you still have trouble, I think I will stop you from approaching Nick. You must have investigated me, you should know that I am capable enough.”

The man glanced at Alvin, not angry because of Alvin’s threatening tone, but solemnly gave him a military salute, “I won’t thank you because of Nick. I can see that you get along like a family. I thank you on behalf of myself, you saved me from the pain of going to hell, and you saved the last ray of light in my life.” He raised the bottle and touched Alvin’s, and took another gulp. “No more trouble, remember the former comrade-in-arms I talked about. I made a deal with him, instead of going to trouble those sons-of-bitches politicians myself, he will solve all my current troubles for me.”

Alvin was relieved, he actually felt very contradictory. Even if this guy was full of trouble, could Alvin really stop him if he wanted to see Nick? He knew how much Nick longed for his father, who was a hero to him. Although Alvin mostly replaced his father’s role, he was not Nick’s real father. If this guy didn’t show up, maybe Nick would have forgotten about him after a while, but it has only been a year.

He didn’t want to admit it, but this guy was an amazing guy. If he was in China, he would be a model for the military, one of the top ten model workers. Although Alvin didn’t quite agree with his behavior, the kind that puts aside your own family to serve the country. But when such a person appeared in front of you, you had to give him a salute and say, “Thank you!”

Alvin raised his glass, “Can I take the liberty to ask, who your comrade-in-arms is? To have so much capability is impressive. The death of so many people is a big deal.”

The man picked up the bottle and clinked with Alvin, “Nick Fury, the current director of S.H.I.E.L.D..”

An image of an ugly black one-eyed guy instantly appeared in Alvin’s mind. Alvin took a sip of wine and asked, “Then your name is…”

The man looked at Alvin, “Frank” said, reached out and shook Alvin’s hand, and solemnly introduced himself: “I’m Frank Castle.”
