Today I took steps towards improving my gear by visiting a Blacksmith. The dwarf Stonekin Master Blacksmith was bordering on rude in his interaction with me, but that could be cultural difference in play. For all I know all Stonekin interact like that amongst themselves. I ordered my design for the Duel Disk to be made and then we signed 2 magically binding contracts. The first is so he doesn’t divulge the enchantments learned from my play mat for the next 5 years. I don’t plan on be here that long and anything that happens after I leave is not my problem. Not that the enchantments would cause trouble. I mean, how would other Summoners benefit from them, their contracts don’t disappear when Summoning? Unless I release a large amounts of Feather Blade cards and every Summoning contract turns into cards. But even then, these cards would be damaged without a Holder, so any damage would be temporary. The second contract is about revenue sharing. I found out there are no ball bearings in this world or they are not widely distributed, so I taught the Blacksmith the design. If he can find a way to create the item he can earn some extra money. I don’t expect a lot, but I can at least earn some lodging and food money this way, even if I don’t do quests in the guild And writing about the guild, I registered in one. I know it is cliché to register in the Adventurer’s Guild, but there are a lot of positives that come from it. Knowledge of dungeon locations one of them and decrease in the fee for entering dungeons. With my goal of conquering dungeons until I unlock a Booster Pack with the card I need to travel to other worlds, these privileges will come in handy. Now the registration process was pretty underwhelming, considering I only had to fill out my name and desired position in a party. They didn’t even check if my occupations will allow such position, but with how often I can change them and the possibility I have the skills, but not the occupations, it kinda makes sense. Not that I need a position in a party, being Summoner and all. I can play the role of an entire party just by myself. Now the assessment test was an entirely different thing. The instructor was a tall, broad and muscular man that conducted thorough tests of my fighting, throwing and Summoning abilities. I am not ashamed to write I performed terribly at the spar. I have absolutely no formal training in how to fight and no experience from brawling, so even when he was holding back his strength to my level, I couldn’t even touch him. In the end my rank was evaluated at E and I was recommended to become a Summoning Spell casting Rogue. Of course with my handicap of needing to keep one occupation slot as Traveler I will have to see which of the two occupations can function with only skills and which one requires the occupation itself. Maybe I need to be Mage level 10 to cast E rank spells like Cure or Fireball or something. Something else interesting that happened today was almost getting robed a few times. I must admit I am not as troubled at the thought of getting my money pouch stolen as I should be, because I already made a deal with the Blacksmith for money to be transferred to my bank account and there is also the card that rewards me with both Tokens and money for using it. I could probably get a few more of it if I spend the rest of my Tokens, so I am not exactly worried about petty cash. Money for improved equipment on the other hand, I am very worried about. I wonder, can I game the system in some way? I have to check if Monster cores are sold and at what prices. There was an attack on the town during lunch, but I don’t know how often there are attacks. And then the thing with probably the most relevance to my health and survival, I had an allergic reaction to something. Luckily it wasn’t severe like anaphylactic shock, but it was a waking moment for me. I realized I have been too lax with my vigilance ever since entering town, as if I wasn’t still in an unknown and dangerous world where any compound could be poisonous and everyone is a stranger that could wish me harm. Good thing I am reflecting on it and will strive to do better in the future.
