“Come on Theseus, really aren’t any other stories you haven’t told me?” Leo whined.

“Hmm, I think I’ve thought of one for you. It’s a story from Heaven, but don’t worry it isn’t sad.” Theseus smiled. The duo just finished closing a trade deal for Oceanus with a merchant from Jezebel’s territory. They were unsure about the political ramifications, but while the merchants finalized the contract, they were stuck waiting around.

Theseus started his story.

Heaven Floor Two.

“Alright, so for the next Heavenly Trial we face, we aren’t in any danger.”

“So, what makes it a trial then?” Ju Long scoffed.

“Are we sure what that book trial guide thing is even accurate?” Berringer interjected and nudged Ju Long.

“Enough. Please continue.” Alvaro glared at the two bullies.

“As I was saying, this is a trial of mental fortitude. We will be individually facing a Royalty Realm prophet named Delphi. Her prophecies are usually accurate, but she likes to play mind games to make you doubt yourself. If you don’t try to fight her, you should be fine.”

“Seems easy enough; is that why you chose it?” Astrid asked.

“Yes, this should be the easiest trial we will come across on my roadmap.” Theseus replied.

“Sounds good to me.” Hama nodded his head.

“Alright, then, let’s go.” Alvaro and Theseus led the way.

A small cottage lay nestled in the mountain.

“This must be Delphi’s residence.” Lydia remarked. Theseus nodded in agreement.

“I’ll go first.” Alvaro walked into the cottage and did not come out.

“Next person.” A shrill voice called from inside.

“Don’t look at me; I’m not going in.” Berringer looked at Ju Long, who was pestering him to go next.

“I’ll go.” Theseus volunteered. Looks of disdain and dismissiveness appeared in the party.

“Whatever, it’s your funeral.” Berringer rolled his eyes. Theseus ruined his joke.

Theseus walked into the cottage, and an old lady sat at a table. A crystal ball sat in the middle of the table.

“Welcome explorer Theseus.” Delphi smiled.

“Impressive. I mean unless you asked Alvaro about the party.” Theseus thought out loud. The old lady, who had long grey hair and a wrinkled face, laughed lightly.

“It doesn’t really matter what I say then does it?” She smirked mysteriously.

“Maybe, maybe not.” Theseus shrugged.

“Hmm, you are right, Alvaro did tell me. I use this artifact in front of me to read futures.” Delphi explained. This was something Theseus already knew from his research.

“Let’s begin, Skill: Communion.” Delphi’s eyes went white, and her pupils morphed into numbers, two in one eyes and a one in the other. Theseus was confused, but Delphi continued to use the crystal ball. It shined brightly and a masked figure appeared in the crystal ball.

“Who is that?” Theseus curiously asked.

A myriad of voice came out of Delphi’s mouth.

“When Theseus reaches the seal, the guardians will rise.

It will all rise in Chaos!

The First Deathless will disappear, and the Apocalypse shall descend.

Rise, rise, oh great Authorities.

Long live Heaven.

Long live Hell.

Long live Purgatory.

Together, the guardians will serve the great Prophet 21.

Long live Order, the first Authority.

Long live the Final Authority, the inheritor of Order.”

Delphi’s eyes returned to normal, and she spoke.

“Alright, are you ready to begin?”

“Huh?” Theseus was confused. Was that not the prophecy?

“Don’t look so confused. I’m just about to start. Let’s see here.” Delphi messed with the crystal ball, and map appeared in its clear texture. Theseus blinked. That first prophecy must’ve been the part to mess with his mind.

“It looks like this is the way you’ll go up the mountain. Floor Four?” She pondered.

“Fuck that! Alvaro, he really wants to continue climbing after the third floor.” Theseus cursed under his breath.

“Ahh I can imagine your anger…” Delphi heard the anger in Theseus’s voice. Her lips crept into a smile.

“You heard that?” Theseus was embarrassed, but it didn’t really matter. He would never see this old prophetess ever again.

“Kukuku,” Delphi laughed. “Are you prepared to die, young Theseus? Fayette is not an easy opponent.”

Sighing, Theseus was already semi-prepared for Alvaro to propose to continue later into the expedition. In the past, when Theseus created the roadmap up Heaven, he planned a false safe route in case Alvaro forced everyone further up the mountain.

“I have some ideas of how to beat her, but isn’t she a C Rank Goddess? Maybe I’ll just convince everyone to turn back somehow. Isn’t that the purpose of prophecy, to change the future?” Theseus wondered out loud.

“Some may think that that is the purpose, but prophecy is deeper than that. It isn’t just a tool but an art. As a prophet, I can change the future through my prophecies, but I wish to state the future as it is, not what I want it to be.” Delphi explained.

“Whatever, can I leave now?” Theseus grew impatient. Prophecy philosophy didn’t matter to Theseus. The longer he stayed here, the more confused Delphi could make him.

“Just remember, one day you’ll wish for hope, and none will come. Prophecy will not save you then. Floor Four will kill you, no matter what you do.” Delphi warned as Theseus got up. In a moment, Delphi used her Heavenly Authority to teleport Theseus elsewhere.

Laying on the ground, Alvaro stood over him.

“Wake up Theseus; we got work to do!” Alvaro yelled. He was going to prank the others when they arrived in the place Delphi teleported them to. Theseus smiled.

Heaven wouldn’t be this easy forever! He had to have fun with Alvaro while he could.

“What do you think about my story Leo?” Theseus questioned his friend.

“What do you think she was talking about before the real prophecy?” Leo asked.

“It sounded like vague mumbo jumbo to me.” Theseus laughed.

“When Theseus reaches the seal, the guardians will rise.” Leo pondered.

“Who knows, maybe we’ll find out one day.” Theseus was not too worried about it. The old prophetess was notorious for telling weird prophecies according to the legends.

“I’ll keep it in mind though.” Leo said seriously. He was growing more mature daily. Theseus was proud of him.

“Looks like the deal is made!” The head merchant of Oceanus Territory, Toby, walked out happily with Jezebel’s merchants.

“Send Jezebel my regards.” Theseus nodded to the merchants, who smiled back.

***

Jezebel was addicted to the rumors surrounding Lord Theseus. Her red eyes glowed lustfully.

“Zamani, do you think Lord Theseus will become my new husband? I even offered him up those merchants.”

“Lord Jezebel, you should go meet him yourself.” Zamani suggested. Lord Jezebel was borderline obsessed with Lord Theseus.

“A new Lord who isn’t afraid to break the rules. How attractive!” Lord Jezebel bit her lip.

“Zamani, I will give you a quick lesson. You already know this, since you taught me this, but it’s important for my next move.” Jezebel stood up. Zamani listened intently.

“There are Seven Deadly Sins in Hell who rules seven of the ten sectors. The Seven Suzerain Lords aim to replicate their depravity and perversion. The Suzerain Treaty was designed to keep the peace in the Oceanic Realm through their legendary examples.

Lord Virgo, representing the Deadly Sin Gluttony, Lord Virgo ruled harshly over a small territory and enacted his twisted sense of justice over his subordinates, consuming all who opposed him into his Shade Core.

I, Lord Jezebel, representing the Deadly Sin Lust, take and act how I please. For my own self appeasement, I will kill, fuck, and enslave any one I desire. There is no greater pleasure in life than self-indulgence.

Lord Achilles, representing the Deadly Sin Pride, Achilles thinks his territory is the best one, but his mismanagement has led to the decline of his territory over decades. If he stopped killing anyone who disagrees with him, he might get more done.

Lord Taurus, representing the Deadly Sin Greed, he’s been plotting for a long time now. He fits his sin; he is never satisfied with what he has. He takes from his subordinates, but never gives, unlike me. That old man’s time has passed, Zamani.

Anyways, Lord Scorpius, representing the Deadly Sin Wrath, he’s a war hungry Shade who invades his neighbors every spring, but never seriously. His temper is notoriously bad, and he acts like a child. How he became so strong is beyond me.

Lord Capricorn, representing the Deadly Sin Envy, is a beautiful woman. Screw her! If only I was half as pretty as her… Ahem, anyways, Capricorn uses her wealth to control the economy in the Oceanic Realm, but she is weak, and her territory is the smallest. Her strength lies in her power to manipulate the economy of the Oceanic Realm and not her personal strength.

And finally, Lord Darkin, representing the Deadly Sin Sloth, rules over the strongest territory, but he doesn’t do anything. Perpetually in seclusion, that Shade has been planning to become stronger to invade the entire Oceanic Realm one day. That bastard needs to stay in seclusion forever. This current power balance was the landscape before Lord Theseus.” Jezebel cursed Lord Darkin.

“Thank you for reminding me of such great wisdom Lady Jezebel.” Zamani bowed.

“You’re welcome my little Captain. Now, I brought this up because I think you’re right. We need to pay a visit to this ‘Theseus’. I will take him for my own husband, and we will rule our territories together. I will fuck him every single day; doesn’t that sound wonderful Zamani?”

“Yes, of course, my liege.” Zamani responded.

“Let’s go then. We need to create some alliances. As I explained, time is running thin. Soon, Lord Darkin will breakthrough to the C Rank, and no other Lord will be able to stop his rampage. Hundreds of thousands will die.”

Lord Jezebel foresaw a dark future where Lord Darkin sat upon a high throne with the six other Lords dead at his feet.

Although it was just a small difference in aura realm, Darkin was not interested in a burst of strength but in a firm foundation. If he was able to keep his aura realm stable in the C Rank for hours to days at a time, he could believably fight multiple Lords of the same realm at the same time by using consecutive skills of the C Rank. Most of the Lords were at the F Rank, so there would be few who could match Darkin at the moment.

Of the seven Lords, the ones who were his match were Lord Taurus and Lord Scorpius, who were in conflict with each other at the present. Lord Achilles was on the verge of a breakthrough as well, but even then, these three Lords didn’t stack up to Lord Darkin’s astounding power.

Jezebel knew the reality: Theseus and Aries were likely the weakest of the Seven Lords, but they had the most potential of any of them. If she could align herself with these new upstarts and perhaps two or three others, they could stop Lord Darkin before he broke through to the C Rank.

“Ready the chariot, we will meet Theseus, and he will be mine.” Lord Jezebel grinned lustfully, and her red eyes glowed as she licked her lips.
