Theseus sat at a long table full of the Elders and the important figures of the Oceanic Realm.

“After exploring the Desolate myself, I have concluded that defeating The Horror at this juncture is simply impossible. We can only overcome the Moirai Mountains, since the Moirai can be reasoned with, to an extent.” Theseus told the officials.

Rabble and conversations erupted in the meeting room.

“Enough!” Aries stood up, getting everyone’s attention.

“If the Zero Elder himself has confirmed that we must conquer the Moirai Dungeon, we have to do it. The only question now is, who should be in the Dungeon Party?”

Aries secretly wanted to be in the Dungeon Party, so he didn’t argue about the Desolate.

“I think we should have at least five Suzerain Lord level powers as well as a Captain for each of them. Only a group that is strong can conquer the dungeon.” Elder Taurus proposed.

“I agree.” Elder Virgo nodded.

The rabble stopped as soon as the Elders spoke up.

“Any volunteers?” Theseus smiled.

“I’ll go!”

The first one to volunteer was Elder Scorpius. After rebuilding his foundations and skills from the ground up, with Theseus’s oversight, he was confident in his new combat prowess.

“Obviously, Theseus and Leo will go as the party leaders.” Gemini said next.

“Any objections so far?”

No one said anything to Theseus’s remarks.

“Scorpius, who do you want as your Captain partner?” Theseus asked.

“I want Aries.” Scorpius laughed.

“Hey, I’m not a Captain!” Aries angrily stood up from the huge table. Was Scorpius insulting him?

Leo and Capricorn laughed.

“Sure, Aries can come, but you should bring a Captain.” Theseus knew Aries wanted to come.

“Humph, fine, I’ll bring my old Head Captain, Scylla.”

Scylla, Scorpius’s not so secret admirer, had a big grin on her face.

“Wait, who said I wanted to go?” Aries grumbled.

“Well, do you?”

“It’s not that I don’t want to, but if you’re that concerned about needing strong people, I will go.” Aries pretended not to care.

Theseus sighed at the tsundere.

“Who will you bring, Aries?”

“I would like to nominate Captain Centos.” Aries felt that Centos was reliable enough. Centos felt strange about Aries’s nomination. When he worked for Virgo, he had worked with Aries as a fellow Captain, but after Aries transcended to a Suzerain Lord’s level, the gap between them only grew wider. Centos was slightly touched that Aries still thought that well of him.

“We could use two or three more pairs for the party. Anyone feel like volunteering or nominating anyone?” Theseus asked, bored with politics.

“I’ll nominate Elder Taurus.” Elder Scorpius laughed, causing more trouble.

“I’m too busy.” Elder Taurus dismissed the nomination.

“Okay, then. Elder Taurus, who would you nominate then?” Theseus felt Taurus’s instant rejection to be a little too quick.

“I’ll nominate… the new strong Captain, Agamemnon.” Taurus smiled, wanting to cause a bit of trouble as well. It would be good if those who entered the Dungeon were all strong. That way, if no one returned, he would be in an even more favorable position. Taurus felt that Agamemnon was ambitious and talented, which made him a future threat. Although he was an Elder, he was prepared for Oceanus to fall. This same situation mimicked the same one that had happened to the Suzerain Alliance.

Taurus frowned. Oceanus was a nice place, but the outside world was unforgiving.

“I accept.” Agamemnon laughed sinisterly.

“Anyone want to be this Captain’s buddy?” Theseus almost burst out laughing. Agamemnon was likely the hardest Captain to work with at the moment.

“I’ll take the challenge.” Gemini bravely spoke out.

“Really?” Agamemnon couldn’t hold in his shock. He wasn’t alone. Capricorn and Virgo both looked at Gemini with curiosity.

“Ho ho, this will be fun.” Elder Scorpius heartily laughed.

“Any objections?” Theseus didn’t think Gemini wanted to come, much less volunteer to partner with the dangerous Captain Agamemnon.

Despite his shock, Agamemnon didn’t want to jeopardize his nomination by declining the young looking Elder, Gemini.

“Alright then, we could use one or two more pairs. Capricorn, Virgo, Jezebel?” Theseus asked the three silent Elders.

All three of them felt too inadequate to be of any help compared to the stronger Elders.

“I don’t feel strong enough, at the present,” Virgo declined going, but secretly he was training vigorously.

“Me too.” Jezebel and Capricorn both said. They were both afraid of the Moirai Dungeon.

“I think Jezebel should go.” Captain Zamani stood up.

“Zamani, stop!” Jezebel angrily whispered.

“Oh, how interesting.” Elder Taurus watched curiously.

“Why is that?” Theseus inquired.

“She is much stronger than she is letting on.” Zamani revealed.

“Oh?” Theseus smiled. He already knew.

“Stop! Stop!” Jezebel tugged at Zamani’s cloak while angrily whispering to him.

“I volunteer as a Captain for this trip as well, as long as Elder Jezebel goes as my partner.” Zamani stood like a dignified butler, but Theseus knew the truth.

Lots of different Captains and Elders had their own motivations, but Theseus knew from his Founder Skill the true progress of everyone’s individual trainings by the skills and aura they contributed to the skill. Instinctively, he knew Zamani and Jezebel had the highest growth rate of the current Captains and Elders.

“Sounds good. You’re both on the team.” Theseus smiled.

“No!” Cried out Jezebel in dismay.

“We’re going to die.” She pouted in despair. The other Elders snickered at her reaction.

“Anyone else? I can let another pair come, but no one else.” Theseus thought that anything more than twelve was too excessive for a Dungeon Party.

“What about two Captains? If the Elders are too scared, I nominate myself and Naiad!” Vodyanoi stood up aggressively.

“How arrogant.” Elder Virgo thought.

“Are you going to take that provocation, Elder Taurus?” Elder Scorpius taunted his rival.

“Humph,” Taurus grumbled but held himself back. He had nothing to gain by entering this suicide squad.

“I wish I could go, but I think I’m too weak.” Suddenly, Elder Gerald said something.

“Indeed.” Laughed Elder Scorpius.

“I do have a nomination though-” As Gerald was about to give his nomination, Ju Long stood up.

“I will go.”

No one spoke.

Ju Long was weaker than a Captain but knew Theseus in the real world. It was a peculiar position that allowed him to be in this meeting.

“Any objections?” Theseus grinned.

“I deserve it over that weak guy!” Vodyanoi yelled angrily.

“Tell me, Gerald, what was your nomination?” Theseus ignored the eager volunteers.

“I nominate Elder Taurus again. He is too strong not to participate. In his stead, I think that Captain Vodyanoi and Naiad should assist in running his territory while he is gone.”

“Absolutely not!” Taurus roared.

“Interesting.” Virgo pondered.

“Tell me why.” Theseus grinned even more. Gerald had told him about this proposition beforehand.

“Elder Taurus is the most experienced leader of anyone here, and his aura realm is firm despite the huge change in his skillset after the fall of Darkin. Taurus has one of the highest potentials of any Elder simply because he is an experienced leader. There is no one more qualified than him.” Gerald described Taurus accurately.

Taurus couldn’t sully his reputation by disagreeing, but he desperately didn’t want inexperienced Captains running his territory.

“I propose Elder Taurus partners with Ju Long. If you are really that experienced and talented, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?” Theseus grinned manically. Taurus fell right into his trap.

“So, this proposition was all planned out?” Elder Taurus inwardly cursed. He was set up!

“I can’t agree to this. My new skillset is still fermenting, and I can’t allow random Captains to oversee my large territory, much less babysit someone weaker than a Captain.” Elder Taurus explained, staring at Ju Long.

“I disagree.” Elder Gemini looked at Taurus, who stared back at Gemini meaningfully.

“Your territory’s foundations are deep, so your absence shouldn’t faze your hardened and experienced Captains. With the extra help, your territory will have no problems, and this is also a good opportunity for you to prove yourself as an Elder by protecting Ju Long.” Gemini locked eyes with Taurus.

“Very well. I will accept, for your sake, Gemini.” Elder Taurus cared the most about Gemini because of the battle they shared. It would indeed be bad if Gemini perished in the dungeon as well.

“Then it’s decided. The Dungeon Party that will conquer the Moirai Dungeon is:

Leo and I.

Scorpius and Scylla.

Aries and Centos.

Gemini and Agamemnon.

Jezebel and Zamani.

Taurus and Ju Long.”

Any objections?”

No one wanted to go against Theseus, for he said at the beginning that it was already decided. Neither Naiad nor Vodyanoi could miss out on the opportunity to help run an entire territory, so they didn’t protest. Theseus was after all, the savior of the Oceanic Realm.

“Well then, let’s conquer the Moirai Dungeon!” Theseus declared.

The twelve made preparations and appointed substitutes for their clerical roles, and a week later, they met at the entrance of the Moirai Dungeon.

“Are you all ready? Some of you might not be coming back.” Theseus sternly lectured the duos, especially Ju Long. By appointing partners, it encouraged the party to stay unified as whole while having a strict buddy system, but the risks were very real.

Scylla was nervous, surrounded by the strongest forces of Oceanus.

“I’ll make sure everyone survives.” Scorpius boasted and reassured Scylla.

“It’s good not to promise something you can’t deliver on, Shade.” Aries nudged Scorpius, causing Centos to laugh.

“I’m serious everyone. We don’t know what kind of trials the dungeon will pose, and we know that the Moirai are all high-ranking Deities. No one in Oceanic Realm history has conquered the dungeon before, but there was also never a party like this one. Are you really prepared not to come back?” Theseus looked at Scylla and Ju Long, the weakest members.

“I- I’ll try my best!” Scylla felt flustered, but for Scorpius, she couldn’t fail.

“Let’s hope I don’t die; I’ll haunt you for dragging me into this.” Taurus muttered under his breath.

Ju Long had passion in his eyes. Although he was the weakest, he didn’t want to be a burden, and he had to talk to the Moirai to discover his fate. Unlike some of the others, Ju Long’s motivations were among the firmest for entering the Moirai Dungeon Party.

“Then let’s go.” Theseus led the way with Leo.

***

The First Moirai Mountain, Floor One.

The party entered the dungeon, and it was apparent that the first section or floor was spider themed.

Spiders and spiderlike beasts spun webs everywhere making it hard to see. The First Floor appeared to be an abandoned mineshaft.

“What is this crap?” Agamemnon waved the spider webs away and turned to look at Gemini. The kid had resolution in his eyes. When he first saw the kid in the borderlands between the Oceanic Realm and the Desolate, he thought the boy was a pushover, but after seeing him bravely explore the dungeon as well being the Desolate Party, Agamemnon swore not to underestimate him, even if he was young. He could be as strong as him, maybe.

Spider beasts occasionally swarmed the party, but they were so weak that it made no difference to anyone, even Ju Long. Since about half of the party was at the Royalty Realm, this first floor was a little underwhelming.

“Guys, I found something.” Jezebel found a gateway. The whole first floor was designed like a mine, and miner’s materials were occasionally scattered about.

Theseus looked at the gateway’s sign’s description.

“Clotho Mountain, Floor Two.” He read aloud.

“It seems like the first sister’s trial is Clotho.” Gemini deduced, writing it down. After his brief experience with the Moirai, Gemini swore he would return and face them again bravely. They were overwhelming, but if he just had to face their trials and not them, he wanted to prove to them and himself that he was not just a second fiddle to Theseus. When he met the Moirai, they ignored him, only thinking about Theseus. These Deities were extremely powerful, and Gemini didn’t want to let his guard down.

“Come on then, let’s go up to the next floor.” Theseus laughed with Leo, and they went up the stairs to the next floor.

Despite the Moirai being real pains to deal with, the Dungeon was looking fun to clear. Theseus thought that the dungeon would get progressively more difficult, so the first floors were going to be easy. It was a calculated bet, and Leo was on board.

“Don’t go off on your own like that!” Taurus shouted, but the duo was already far into the second floor.
