I felt my body melting from the heat and the exhaustion. There was only a little abuse the body of a young kid could take.

I let the hundredth punch on the sandbag that hung in front of me, making sure to punch it straight on the upper left.

<<Kickboxing (E)>>

I was heavily disappointed when I got this skill.

Kickboxing has been a very popular sport and fighting style in this world, especially among young men.

It is a good style, a strong style to be honest.

But there was a reason I was disappointed after I received this skill.

Rotating my body at an incredible speed, I did a roundhouse kick straight to the top of the sandbag with my entire strength.

Kickboxing was great, but it was not the skill I was trying for.

"The Bolozodic Arts."

The most lethal fighting style developed by the third king of Bolozodia, the kingdom that fell to its ruin in my reign.

My Kingdom.

The style focused on targeting the most vital organs of people and destroying them. Either from sheer force or by puncturing the vital organs from the shockwave.

Humans did not have any special ability even in my world, but in comparison, the humans of this world are physically much weaker than mine.

Which is mostly because of the lack of immediate threat.

My people trained their entire lives in the hopes of survival, but here people barely have to worry about survival.

At least in the sense of physical threats.

The amount of obese people in this world is terrifying. In mine, they would be either imprisoned or executed for bringing down the army force and morale.

Obesity was not something we could afford. We had people strong enough to burst the heart of Orcs with a single kick.

And all that was thanks to the Bolozodic Arts.

But given how weak this body is… It only registered my attacks as kickboxing.

Not even Muay Boran or something lethal.

Shaking my head, I decided to not worry about it. As long as I persisted, I was going to succeed one day.

But for now, I had to do with what I had.

"Issei!" I heard my mother exclaim at the top of her lungs. "Please come down, dear."

Sighing from within, I walked down from my room.

But not before taking a quick look at my current skills.

[Skills: <<Bolozodic Language (B+)>>

<<Advanced Literature (E)>>

<<Royal Mannerism (E)>>

<<Kickboxing (E)>>

<<Boxing (E)>>]

Not the worst, but I can improve.

But there were some other things that could be improved as well.

Namely, my room.

My room was small, and I had to do a lot of work to fit all my training gear inside it.

Not to mention how much I had to plead to my parents to allow me to join a martial arts school and thanks to that I was able to install a few training items in my room.

I had to find a way to make money… and I had to do it fast.

As always, my mom sat in her room.

Today it was only my mom as my dad was out working.

"Issei darling, please sit down." She said with a bright smile, but surprisingly I could sense a bit of sadness in that smile.

"Your teacher just called."

"Oh?"

This surprised me a little.

"Did she complain about something?" I asked and surprisingly, it made my mother laugh.

"Complain? No darling, it is the opposite." She immediately dismissed my theory. "Instead she called to congratulate."

"Congratulate?"

I think I knew what it was about.

"She said that this time she made the examination paper more difficult than usual, saying that it was to teach the kids a moral lesson that not everything in life is easy."

I listened to what she said.

"But even after that, she was shocked that you obtained the highest marks in class." She shook her head happily. "Not just the highest, but the full marks"

She was gleeful.

"I am so proud of you son."

She said with watery eyes.

"I knew you were smart."

I wouldn't call myself smart. After all, no matter how difficult the teacher made the paper –there was only little she could do.

"But…"

She sounded worried.

"She said that you have not made any friends in class."

Oh no…

"Is everything alright, Issei?" She asked, worried. "Is someone annoying or making you do things that you do not like?"

I felt myself putting on a comforting smile as I heard her say that.

What a cute way to ask about bullying.

"No mom." I shook my head. "No one is doing anything that I dislike. I just wanted to get good marks to make you and dad proud, so I mostly focused on studies."

This made her smile a little, but she wasn't really happy.

"That makes me glad, Issei." She said. "But making friends and being in a good company is just as important as studies, if not more."

She explained. "So, please have a little fun, son. Go out, make friends."

It was easier said than done.

I was thirty-two in my past life, and that makes it nearly impossible to interact with kids.

My body grew smaller and younger, but my mind didn't.

In all honesty, I did so much training because there was not much to do in this life.

This world was safe and comfortable but I could not enjoy it much before growing older a bit.

So, I spend most of my time training.

And the voice from that time kept me motivated to improve and with the Empyrean system… that desire just grew stronger.

But I did not want to hurt my mother.

I never got to experience the love of a mother or a father in my previous life. So, this was a dream come true.

It was not easy to think of them as my parents, but given how much they care about me… they have grown on me.

They have a special place in my heart.

Five… No, it's nearly six years.

Six years is not little.

They have loved and taken care of me without expecting anything in return, which has been a first for me.

So, even if I cannot think of them as my real parents yet.

They are people that I keep close to my heart, and that feeling is only going to grow stronger as time passes.

And I know, I will be able to think of them as my true parents one day.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow.

But in time, I will.

Not wanting to make my mother sad, I put on my brightest smile.

"Do not worry, mom." I said. "I will make a lot of friends."

It was not easy to act like a kid, but in front of her… it was easier than ever.

She seemed happy. "I know darling." She said. "I know that you will make a lot of friends."

Parents…

Are truly the biggest gift a child can have.

In a neighbourhood entirely away from Issei's home, a man stood before a massive cross.

"Sir Touji, it is time you make a decision."

The man sighed as he heard the words that came from behind him.

"I know it is time." He said, sounding both sad and tired. "But I am not ready." He exclaimed. "May the lord in heaven forgive me, but my heart is not ready."

The one standing behind him kept his calm. "Sadly time waits for none."

"I know." Touji sounded broken.

"If you do not make your move, the Church of England will. And if the Church gets involved, things will get messy."

Touji clenched his fists.

"You want me to kill the boy I trained, just because things will get messy?" He sounded enraged. "It is a person's life we are talking about."

He was furious.

"Especially one as bright and talented as Masaomi."

The other person did not say anything for a while.

"If the Church gets involved… it will not be messy just for Masaomi, but for your family as well."

Touji glared at the man.

"Is that a threat?"

In a fraction of a second, a sword lay next to the man's neck –yet the man remained calm.

"No. Just a warning and a hint to an old friend." He said in the same tone. "Do not forget that the Church operates under its laws and not ours. There is only a little we can do."

Touji gripped the sword tightly, before losing his strength and dropping the sword lower.

"Tell me what can I do?" He asked, no he begged. "What choice do I have?"

At this question, even the man's face faltered a bit.

"Nothing." He sounded a bit sombre. "Follow the protocol."

Touji was silent for a while.

"If I do… No harm will come to my family, right?"

He asked.

"Yes. I promise that." The man assured.

Touji had a daughter, one that was barely five. And he wanted no harm to ever come to her.

'She has yet to make friends.' He felt sorrowful. 'I cannot let her childhood get ruined.'

Touji made up his mind.

"I will follow the protocol, but if any harm comes to my daughter… Things will go down."

His sword glowed with his words.

"And that is a promise."
