There was a rumbling sound.
A tank with a thick gun barrel drove across the sand, leaving behind two wide, straight tracks with its caterpillar belts. Sand and dust rose to the sky as the engine roared.
The tank drove past a small dune to find a sizable military base. The camouflaged soldiers guarding the top of the gun towers patrolled from side to side with their guns, patrol cars with machine guns were driving back and forth through the base, and there were even several armed helicopters.
“This is my dream. I built it from my memory on a military base.
“Master Ji, what do you think? Do you need me to change anything?”
Cobb seemed very proud of himself as he spoke to Ji Ye, who had just gotten out of the tank.
“Not bad!”
Ji Ye nodded and looked intrigued as he examined the heavily armed military base.
Although Cobb had lost his memory, he still remembered his background. Inception was based in Ameagle, and of course, he built the military base from Ameagle.
Ji Ye wasn’t a military fan, but because SkyNet had all the military data of Ameagle, he knew the names of a lot of things here.
There were the M1A2 tanks, M3 cavalry fighting vehicles, Apaches, and Viper helicopters.
Although it was only a base of a few hundred people, it had all types of major weapons. In the Land of Inheritance, they would be enough to annihilate a less advanced alien settlement.
“Look!”
“What’s going on in the sky?”
While Ji Ye was still talking to Cobb, the dream suddenly changed.
There was a buzzing sound.
The bright sky darkened as if a sand storm was coming.
Gray fog appeared in the sky and around the perimeter, and it was quickly approaching the military base.
Roar, roar, roar!
When they were about 5km from the base, swirls appeared on the surface of the fog. Strange things roared, and creatures of all shapes and sizes emerged.
There were red-eyed boars with iron spikes growing out of their bodies. There were thousands of sonic bats that batted their wings. There were also highly poisonous lizards that moved quickly through the sand.
There were even nearly 100 mammoth-like ancient beasts and dozens of enormous pterosaurs with sparks and smoke coming out of their mouths.
“Sir, there are monsters!”
“Quickly, call the command center.”
“Kill them! Don’t let them get close to the base!”
Cobb, who dressed like a major general, gave the order.
After the fog and the monsters showed up, the military base panicked a little, but they soon took action.
The siren rang, and everyone picked up their weapons. M1A2 tanks charged at the mammoth beasts. The Viper and Apache helicopters all rose to the sky, intercepting the approaching pterosaurs.
“Everyone in this military base is transformed from my subconscious.
“Once my dream is changed by external interventions, they’ll all aid me,” Cobb explained.
Guns started firing.
The M3 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle hit the spiked boars on the back, and blood gushed out of the holes.
Sand and dust flew everywhere as they fell to the ground.
Boom!
Even the mammoths that were almost as big as the tanks had half their heads blown off when the shells of the M1A2 tanks hit them.
Pop, pop, pop!
When the Viper helicopter opened fire, the sonic bats were blown to pieces.
The holes in the pterosaurs’ wings were the size of human fists, but because they were big and powerful enough, they were still able to fly.
“That is to say, strictly speaking, this is a battle between two minds.”
Ji Ye thought for a moment.
“Yes. The stronger a mind is, the more likely it can be transformed into powerful defense and attack abilities.
“That way, there are more projections in the dream and more powerful weapons.”
While Cobb was speaking…
Boom!
A soldier picked up a one-man missile known as a “poisonous spike”.
After the missile was fired, it rushed up into the sky with a stream of smoke behind its tail, directly hitting a pterosaur’s wing and blowing up a small part of its body instantly. It turned into a fireball and fell to the ground.
“Yes. Although the power of the dream depends on the creator, usually, the more powerful a creature or object is in reality, the more powerful they will be in the dream because it’s a projection of the subconscious,” said Cobb.
Boom!
A surface-to-surface missile whistled into the herd of mammoths that were charging toward them and exploded with a boom.
At least a dozen mammoths fell to the ground, collapsed, and turned into gray crystals.
Cobb was a Transcendent Rank-1 Commander hero. Theoretically, he could even build nuclear weapons in his dreams. Of course, that was when he could concentrate most of his energy.
Because he had spent most of his conscious power on building the military base and the combat personnel, the most powerful weapons on the base he could come up with were missiles that could blow up Extraordinary Rank-9 beings.
However, as a creature that used dreams to fight, the Dense Fog had a powerful mind as well.
Moreover, if they could defeat other races and even advanced creatures like the unicorns, they had to have something up their sleeves.
Squeak!
After the armed helicopters blew up some of the giant bats, the bats soon gathered together and turned into a close-packed group. Then, they emitted high-frequency sound waves in the direction of the Viper.
Buzz!
The air “boiled” like water.
The soundwave immediately shattered the bulletproof windows of the helicopter.
“Ah!”
The pilot of the helicopter exploded as well.
“Hoooo!”

And that wasn’t the only thing that had happened.
Over a dozen pterosaurs also gathered together and formed a giant black dragon about 30m tall. Each of its scales was as big as a shield, and there was a circle of spikes growing out of its neck. Its red eyes glowed viciously, and the energy it gave off reminded one of the Transcendent power.
Hum!
After that, it charged toward an Apache that was firing at it, opened its mouth, and spat out a red ball of flame the size of a human head.
The flame followed the helicopter despite the fact that the pilot tried to evade it. In the end, the helicopter melted down while it was still in the air.
What was left of the helicopter fell to the ground, and the impact killed two soldiers.
In this dream, the soldiers weren’t immune to damage caused by their companions.
“Oh no. There’s something strange about the minds of the Dense Fog race.
“They can concentrate their mental power to exert the power of the Transcendent level!”
The look on Cobb’s face changed.
To some extent, the Dense Fog race was more “advanced” than the yakshas and unicorns.
Because the ability to enter a dream was a Transcendent power, this meant that they could be considered as a race that was “naturally Transcendent”.
Of course, to be Transcendent didn’t necessarily mean that they were powerful. When compared with races like the Metal Men and the yakshas, the Dense Fog didn’t seem all that intelligent.
However, they could concentrate their mental power in a dream, which was very effective in battles. It meant that the Dense Fog could build all kinds of Transcendent beings to surround Ji Ye and Cobb.
Cobb, on the other hand, couldn’t build Transcendent defense units because he had spent his energy elsewhere.
However, Ji Ye could.
Because his mental power had also reached the Transcendent level, and because before he entered this dream, he had learned Inception as well.
“Roar!”
While the black dragon was attacking the helicopters with its flame, another dragon roared, and a Buddhist Heavenly Dragon over 300m long appeared in the sky. It was emitting intimidating energy.
The Transcendent western dragon only had a wingspan of 30m. Compared with the oriental dragon, it was as weak as a child.
Thud! Thud!
Immediately, the two “dragons” charged at each other.
In a matter of seconds, the red dragon whimpered and was torn to pieces. It turned into a fist-sized gray crystal when it fell to the ground.
“Hoooo!”
On the other side, another black dragon appeared, destroying the giant bat that was attacking with its soundwave.
Boom! Boom!
After the two dragons appeared, even the sky and the ground of the military base started shaking and began to crack and collapse.
“Well…”
Cobb looked surprised.
He was the engineer of this dream, which meant that the dream’s capacity was also the upper limit of his mental power.
Ji Ye’s Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon could make the sky crack, which meant that Ji Ye’s mental power was no weaker than that of Cobb, who was specialized in mind-related combat.
In fact, it was indeed so.
In the Land of Inheritance, mental power was divided into two categories.
There was the quantitative aspect, which was represented by the weight of the object that the mental power could lift.
And there was the qualitative aspect, which was shown in the form of will and prospect,
In terms of the first aspect, since Ji Ye had just reached the Transcendent level, he was inferior to Cobb. Although he had learned Inception, he wouldn’t be able to build a military base and soldiers of this scale.
But in terms of the quality of the mental power, Ji Ye was as good as the “Master of Dreams” himself.
And he might even be a little better.
Because in the Land of Inheritance, although Fusion and training with EXP only seemed to take a few hours, in fact, they were equivalent to a few months in real-time.
With the great number of skills Ji Ye had learned and the objects he had fused, his mind was already very resilient.
Although in the film, Cobb was lost in limbo for decades, he might not have a tougher mind than Ji Ye.
Even some of the heroes, such as Gongsun Sheng and Wu Song, who constantly trained themselves with their EXP points, might have tougher minds than Cobb.
“Roar… Roar…”
Ji Ye’s great mental power also meant that the Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon was frighteningly powerful.
The battle didn’t take long. The great dragon killed nearly half of the pterosaurs, and the rest had to fly further away.
The dead pterosaurs turned into gray crystals when they fell to the ground.
“Yes, the gray crystals!”
When Ji Ye picked up the gray crystal dropped by the first dragon, the attribute he sensed surprised him.
[Dense Fog Crystal]
[Level: Special]
[Rarity: Refined (Offering)]
[Description: When members of the Dense Fog race died, they would drop the crystal. After fusing the crystals, one could gain some of their abilities.
[Note: The Dense Fog race has the ability of “sharing minds”. Because of that, their crystals could to some extent fuse with one another and become offerings of higher levels.]
The Dense Fog offerings could actively fuse with each other, and when there were enough of them, the final offering could become a Special one.
That was to say, theoretically, they could use these crystals to summon Transcendent heroes in the same way they used the objects dropped by the five Yuan kings and the Yuan emperor.
Of course, it wouldn’t be as good as the Perfect Snow Spear, Thunder Halberd, or Water Stopping Stone.
But they were greater in numbers.
Based on the numbers and levels of the monsters transformed by the gray fog, they might even be able to obtain 10 Special offerings.
That was equivalent to 10 Special Transcendent heroes.
The Dense Fog had brought a more pleasant surprise to Dragon City than the yakshas.
Talking about the yakshas, they had also obtained two Transcendent-level Souls of Civilization during the process of destroying the yaksha settlement.
“Let’s retreat now. The two of us alone aren’t enough to handle the Dense Fog. We’ll need to summon a few more people.”
The creatures had joined together, forming giant mammoths and Transcendent boars the size of houses. Seeing the stream of creatures coming out of the gray fog from all directions, Ji Ye chose to retreat for the time being.
“Yes, sir!”
Immediately, they faded from the military base before they were completely surrounded.
