Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Regression

"So this is the end huh..." I said to myself as the snow started to fall slowly, right now I am in the one hundredth floor of the Terra tower, you might be wondering why is it snowing when I'm inside what seems to be a building, I even called it a tower. 

Well basically, every floor of the tower has some sort of like pocket dimensions, here in floor 95 to floor 100 its called the permafrost, with temperatures reaching negative 100 degrees Celsius, wait why am I explaining this again? 

*clank*

I let out a big sigh as I relaxed my body prompting it to lose all the remaining tension and fall down. 

"It's finally done... I fought him for three whole months and finally... I've come out victorious!" 

I have just defeated the 100th floor boss <Former Hero: Cid> after three months of nonstop battle.  

"But at what cost...?" 

It's the ultimate goal of humanity... But why do I feel empty...? 

It might be because I am the only one left on the said humanity, all of them have died... except of me. 

Tears burst out from my eyes as I remember all experience I've been through and all sacrifices that was made just to reach this moment. 

I took out my favorite pomeca wine from my inventory and at the same time I also removed all my armor and stood up. 

"Ugh... this sucks, here's to the strongest human being who crying alone in the snow cheers!" 

As I was fooling around, I saw a glimpse of shiny on the side of my eye, it turns out the chest was still there unopened

With my body freezing cold, I walked towards the glowing chest and got out the boss clear rewards

-Letter

-Philosopher's stone(?) 

-Seed(?) 

"Haha.... HAHAHAHA! A hundred floors and the reward is just a flimsy letter, a seed and a stone?!" 

As I was about to go insane from frustration a system prompt opened before me. 

<Do you want to open the letter?>

<Info: A letter from the <Former Hero: Cid>, Who knows what it's contents are? >

"Hero? Hell yes, let's see what this fucker's letter is" 

<Congratulations! If you are reading this then it must mean that you have defeated the remaining half of me>

"Half?! That monster is just a half of you?!?!" Hell nah bro! Don't tell me I have to fight another half of you?? I'm literally dying right now because the storm is coming and I don't have heat buffs anymore. 

<Now that you have completed the tower, I will put my whole trust in you as the guardian of humanity, I don't know if you who are reading this are a good person or not, I wish it's the former but since I'm dead now, I'll just send you this>

How dare you call yourself the guardian of humanity?! Because of this goddamn tower the humanity fucking perished!

Your story better make me cry, if not I'll kill you again even though you're dead already, It's the least I can do as the last human remaining

But more that that, what the hell are those monsters... 

Those fuckers has no forms they're just- I don't know how to explain it! Are those the real nature of the constellations?? 

Before when there are still people roaming terra and the tower, there are beings called constellations, they are kinda similar to the system but they noticeably more... how do I say this? Alive? Because unlike system they communicate and give abilities to the adventurer, meanwhile the system is just a menu that anyone has to customize their stats and put in their stuffs. 

Getting back, here's a short summary of what I saw in the Hero- Cid's memory

Basically the hero was the first human to reach and defeat the tower's 100th floor boss, and after that he discovered that there are monsters out there that are far more dangerous than the monsters in the tower, deeming the humanity unready for this kind of threat he closed off  the <Gate of Beyond> sacrificing his body in the process. 

And before he perished, he casted a spell that made him an undead, after that he sacrificed half of this soul to create the philosopher's stone for the worst case scenario, and the remaining half of his soul lost its ego and became the new 100th floor boss. 

Now I know that Cid the hero really is the humanity's guardian, and that he wasn't a villain at all. No I'm not crying, you are!! 

<Thank you, It's finally my time to rest.> 

With that as his final words, the letter burned and was turned into ashes

"Salute to the hero!" 

After finishing my Salute to the hero I buried his remains and I went down to my base in floor 99.

It's been a few days since the final battle has concluded and I really can't get it out of my mind

It's too bad that the humanity that the hero worked hard to preserve went nearly extinct with me being the last remaining specimen. 

But I'm amazed that the hero even thought about that and made the Philosopher's stone for the worst case scenario. 

But now I'm in shambles because I haven't decided on what to do yet. 

<Philosopher's Stone> The legendary stone that can reverse time. 

<Seed(?)> ??? 

Yeah so basically I-

"What the hell was that?" 

That was loud as fuck, it came from above in 100th floor

<Teleport>

In a rush to see what the commotion was, I used my teleport skill and just like that I'm immediately in 100th floor

And after just arriving, I immediately noticed something different 

The gate of whatnot was opened, actually its more like someone blasted the hell outta it and the followers are flooding in

Seeing how dire the situation was, I immediately opened my inventory skipping the equipment section

What? You think I'll fight those monsters?? I don't even have any weapon, my last sword broke days ago when I was using it to dig the grave of the hero

Anyways I skipped through the equipment section of my inventory and went straight towards the consumables

<Use the Philosopher's Stone?>

"Damn Yes get me outta here!"
