A multicolored flash of light reached the surface of a purple planet in an unknown galaxy. The multi-colored halo flew over the glass buildings and surprised many people who happily proclaimed:
—One more!
These people were of different shades and each one wore a different precious stone on his forehead. They were male in appearance; their bodies varied in size and musculature, but they were separated by groups, so there was some uniformity about them.
The orange-skinned ones were tall and athletic, the red-skinned ones were smaller, though muscular; others had mottled or striped skin, and so on with each group.
The flash reached the largest palace on the dwarf planet, entered through a hatch at the top and crashed into a sophisticated forge of great size, capable of housing an individual. This was controlled by two men, whose skins and hair had different shades.
—Finally, a sinless soul —said one of them, who sported golden skin and fiery hair.
—He is perfect to be our brother —said the other. His complexion was platinum and his hair was white.
The soul kept its stillness inside the cubic forge.
—How long did we wait for this? —asked in a low voice the one whose skin was as radiant as that of a sun.
—Millions of years. When we thought Carbon would form like us, it was dispersed throughout space due to the Big Bang, which led us to wait a long time for intelligent life forms to develop.
—Silver, it is time for our unborn brother to appear.
—It's a given, Gold.
Beams of energy shot from their foreheads in the direction of the forge.
—Carbon, you loved the Earth so much that you put all your energy into the creation of humans —said Gold, his eyes reflecting an ethereal light.
Silver stood by his side and, their greatness coming together, they gave life to a new being.
And that being opened its eyes as its body finished forming.
The cubic forge opened a hatch, out of which came a thick cloud of smoke, but also a life form. Crawling like a baby, a young man of androgynous appearance, pale skin and black hair, found himself vulnerable in front of his benefactors.
—I am alive...
His voice was soft, but soon broke, and he began to cry.
—From today, you will never have any difficulty again —said Silver, lifting the young man gently.
—But... What am I?
—You are our brother, one of the noblest beings in the universe, a Carbon. Before you there were several candidates, but no one had the qualities you possessed —said Gold, placing his hand on the boy's left shoulder.
—Carbon?
The black-haired one looked carefully around him, then looked at his nakedness... there was nothing that could classify him as human; his private parts had disappeared.
—Don't worry about that —said Silver—, soon you will have the ability to shape your body as you please.
—My name is Gold and my brother is Silver, we are the children of everything, we are elements. We are the ones who saw the birth of the universe. From us comes every valuable thing in the cosmos.
—But from me... —whispered Carbon.
—From you comes life.
Then, the new specimen was welcomed in a warm embrace.

The passing days no longer meant much to Carbon, but being once again on Earth, he felt the warmth of life.
He was in front of a huge cathedral in Venezuela. Life around him was humble, even for the clergy, who lived on what the church gave them. It had taken him a long time to return to his home planet, not because he didn't want to, he just wasn't ready.
But now he was different, he even looked like someone else.
He was dressed in a suit and the black stone on his forehead only gave him an additional air of elegance. On top of that, he wore a brown trench coat.
He entered the church with briefcase in hand. It was empty as usual; the only man there was a priest, Father Amador. He was an old man, very different from how he remembered him in the past.
—Father.
—My son, have you come to confession?
The older man had his back turned, arranging the altar for the coming Mass.
—I want to make a donation.
Amador turned around to look at the owner of the voice.
—W-Who are you?
—A long time ago a young man died unjustly on the streets. You were the only one who cared for him while he was alive.
The priest raised his hand and refused to receive any compensation.
—It is not necessary.
—God's work cannot build itself, sometimes it takes more than just faith.
Carbon walked to the altar and put the briefcase on the floor.
—You're not from here —said Father Amador.
—No, not anymore.
The clergyman's countenance was one of pure surprise, something about the boy seemed strange to him.
—Did your parents baptize you here when you were a baby?
—I don't have parents.
—And then...
—I only had one, but that's not important right now.
Father Amador swallowed his breath and said:
—I insist, there is no need for such generosity.
—The church has lost faithful in the last few months, hasn't it?
—The west is opening up to other thoughts that do not necessarily have to do with a god.
—Many people see faith as something bad and irrational. I don't believe that, because that's what shaped me.
—You don't see as someone who is religious.

—I have my doubts, but in this world of indecency and criminality, I think faith is very necessary. —Carbon squatted down and opened the briefcase. —Just as I believe this will be of great help to you and the mission you have with God.
The content of the briefcase were precious. It illuminated the priest's eyes, so much so that it was a bit blinding. There were a few bars of silver and several bars of gold, enough to build three more cathedrals.
—Please, I can't take this!
But when Amador looked up, there was no one there.
He hunched over, clasped his hands together and looked at the ground with his pupils on nothing.
—Miguel...

The protocol suit worn by Carbon was too tight for his taste.
While Gold wore radiant golden armor and Silver a jewel-encrusted long robe, the newest member of the royal family was wearing something that resembled a full-body lycra.
The only good thing was the design: prominent onyx crystal shoulder pads, the vector of a diamond on the chest and knee-high boots. In addition to that, a black cape.
That last was good, because most of the suit was of various shades of gray.
He arrived at Orplacar in his high-tech ship; that was the name of the planet he habited. A rule had been imposed on him, as long as he was outside of orbit, he could dress as he wished, but once he entered the sight of the people, he had to change into his royal family attire.
He had learned that even though the elements boasted of being intellectually superior, they sinned in vanity.
Carbon entered the huge room he shared with his brothers. The room was triangular, each point was a bedroom and the center was a beautiful glass table.
Gold and Silver rose from their seats at the table when they saw the youngest enter from the widest side of the triangle.
—What took you so long? It was only a delivery!
That was the voice of Silver, who raised his tone as he almost never did.
—Silver, relax. The important thing is that you are here just in time for the celebration of the Palladium 0600 colonizer —said Gold, welcoming Carbon with a tight hug.
—Thank you for... — poke the black-haired one, but soon his air was compressed by the addition of Silver in the embrace— waiting for me.
—Silver, you're going to drown him.
—I'm s-sorry!
A blush appeared on the white-haired man's cheeks, then he said:
—Whatever, I think it's time to get everything organized. Soon 0600 will be here and we have to welcome him like the hero he is.
Carbon frowned trying to remember the feat of that Palladium everyone was talking about, but he gave up, so he asked his brothers:
—What's the reason for so much adoration towards that guy?
—Have you forgotten him already, Carbi? -asked Gold. The space navigator, Palladium 0600, finished his colonization work on a primitive planet, helping the natives to develop faster.
—I remember now, sorry guys, it's just that being on Earth has stirred my thoughts.
Silver smiled calmly.
—It's okay, but we'd better hurry.
The sun of Orplacar lasted in the sky for thirty hours, at nightfall, the moon rose and stayed there for at least fifteen hours, making each day longer than normal.
At the last minute of sunset, a ship arrived at the palace esplanade.
It belonged to the soon-to-be-awarded Palladium.
There were important people there: high-ranking volframians, neons from the local training world, and noble bismuths who held office within the elemental rulers' household.
The rest of the crowd was scattered outside the containment fences.
And at the highest point, three thrones lay in front of a long red carpet; Gold occupied the place in the center, Silver was on the left and Carbon on the right side.
All three watched intently as the ship descended.
The trumpets blared as people threw yellow petals everywhere.
Finally, the ship's legs touched the ground.
A little dust rose, but it was not so much as to ruffle the hair of those present. It did, however, bring the trio of siblings to their feet.
Something strange happened, though. Even though the hatch had opened to make way for the hero, no one came out. For a good while it stayed that way, until a familiar smell permeated Carbon's sense of smell.
—What...?
The red-haired man's nose wrinkled in disgust. He realized that none of his brothers perceived such a stench, and that was because they did not know death.
Palladium's corpse was thrown from inside the ship roughly. The elemental stone on his forehead lay broken and irreparable, as did his body, which looked as if it had been torn to pieces by a hungry beast.
The crowd was speechless, but those who could, raised their weapons against the danger.
A group of ten people came out in uniform. Each was different, but not in a good way. Their colors radiated a single word: death.
—It took us a long time to plan this," said the leader of the group.
—Who are you people!? —Silver shouted with stern rage.
—Don't you remember us anymore? We were your first creations.
—Gold, what is the meaning of this? —asked Carbon.
Gold took a closer look at the invaders.
—Francium, Beryllium, Fluorine, Rubidium, Arsenic, Polonium, Mercury, Radon, Uranium and... Plutonium.
With each name the flame-haired one dictated, Silver's expression declined more and more.
—We were used and then discarded. All of our kind live on a shitty planet that you ignored once our essences were scattered across the universe. —The leader touched the stone on his forehead—. It is time for retribution.
A green light drawn from the element he possessed, materialized a sword with several spikes on the blades, specially made to shred the flesh of whoever was his victim and then bring it to a state of incurable putrefaction.
—0600 was killed by conventional weapons. I wanted this to be a surprise.
—Plutonium! —Gold shouted, illuminating the element on his forehead, and then expelled a deadly beam of energy.
However, the attack was repelled thanks to the inadvertent reaction of Uranium, who, making use of his elemental stone, pulled out his weapon; a reflective shield. The beam that was aimed directly at Plutonium was deflected towards the innocent people behind the fences, leaving a trail of grim death.
With a slight nod of his head,
—This time it will be our way.
