Elijah and David snuck in to the manor at midnight, entering through the main gates after having knocked out the gate guards.
Entering through the door, they traveled to the dining hall.
There was no one there, and they may have moved on to check where everyone left it not for the obvious trap for in the middle of the room.
Elijah and David travelled down the staircase, which was so dark that evil Elijah couldn't see infront of him, which should have been impossible. Then Elijah realized what it was.
"Do you know what the black fog is?" Elijah asked.
"I've seen it a few times, mostly when dealing with the church of the Evil god, it appears occasionally when some relatively weak evil being that seeks to destroy everything is neat as they can't hide their presence very well."
"Have many times have you fought the church of the evil god before?" Elijah wondered.
"To oppose the seventy saints of Firglory? Of course not! Why would you imagine such a foolish idea!?"
Elijah was confused. "I thought you said you exterminated them?"
"Nonsense, no such words would ever leave my mouth. I've dealt with them, on many occasions I've assisted them against evil. They lead many fighters that are strong beyond measure."
"And they aren't evil?"
"EVIL!? Boy, if they're evil, I'm the pool of sin in the abyss! Why would you profane the good name of Firglory?"
"So why do they worship the good of evil?"
"What!? What would you say that!?"
"Then who do they worship?"
"Why the Evil god of course!"
"Yes... Of course,"Elijah was even more confused.
Then he heard a chuckle, as David's helmet echoed it and made it sound as though he were speaking in a hole.
"I love telling people of Firglory, they get so flustered they don't really know what to say. The reason people confuse them is that the deity they worship is unconventional two say the least. But I'll explain later, for now, we've reached the end it would seem."
Elijah immediately hid, sneaking his way around the other side of the room unnoticed.
The room was not that big, like a gathering hall of sorts that was a little too cramped. There were well over a hundred bodies, only twenty of which alive. The sight was sickening and even David who had seen genocides was disgusted.
"Ah, David!"
"Lokurt, you bastard, you're really bad at hiding how much you stink. You should cleanse more in holy water."
"Well, it seems I should try to kill you harder next time, filth," Lokurt sneered at David, ridicule prevalent in his face "I had wondered where you had run off to, as I couldn't find you among the bodies," Lokurt, he who hosted the event said, "but no matter, as soon you'll be among them. AHHH!"
"What are you doing!?" David thought that he had summoned some demon to take over his body and enable him to fight, until he noticed the rapier sticking out of his chest.

Elijah tried to dislodge the rapier, but after one tug it didn't come out, so he left it there and jumped back into the shadows, almost sinking into them. Lokurt turned around too late to see him vanish.
Angrily he shouted "start the ritual, now!" Turning to David he said "if you'd have made it earlier, you might have had a chance to stop the summoning, but you can't halt it now!" A disturbing smile spanned his face.

Ten of the cultists present applied something to their ritual, which activated it and a portal appeared.
Now, Elijah could have done the smart thing of killing a cultist, preventing them from completing the ritual and stopping whatever was supposed to come out of that one-time one-direction portal. But he had a 'better' idea!
Is that the nether realm calling for me on a field trip to a burning hell of adversity, hardship, danger and extreme mortal peril in the name of fun and exploration? Sign me in! "Geronimo!" And jumping into the portal, Elijah disappeared, causing the portal to collapse behind him.
Everyone present stood there motionless as they gazed blankly at the empty air.
"...F***," Lokurt said.
David was at a loss- he had asked Elijah over to come and help him so he could experience evil at work, to know what he'd face in the future. Someone so good would inevitably face evil sooner rather then later. He knew Elijah was slightly rash, but did not realize how reckless he was until this very moment. And David's to blame for what happened, he felt.
He shouted and charged at Lokurt, who fell to the floor easily as he was already wounded. With one hand holding down Lokurt, he grabbed a pinch of something similar looking to salt as he chanted something and did some flourish as an invisible wall surrounded him.
"WHERE IS HE!?" He shouted.
Lokurt was shocked and discoherently answered "he I ah dadon't'"
"ANSWER!"
"He's probably in one of the HellScapes by now!"
"Which!?" David shook Lokurt.
"I don't know! It was a random gate that should've summoned some devil that would serve as a vessel of destruction! No one was supposed to enter as they would use all the spell components.
David gritted his teeth, then smashed his fist into Lokurt's face. Getting up, he let the spell he cast dissipate as he went in a massacre. When he finished, he panted heavily, the answer and helplessness not leaving his heart.
He turned his head as he heard footsteps approaching, and he used his ability Divine Sense.
It was a faint note that reached his ears, and a half-elf that came into his vision.
Assured, he lowered his weaponry, sighing.
"Where's Elijah?" The half-elf demanded.
"Gone."
"Gone?"
"He jumped into a portal that the cultists had activated, and stopped it from summoning whatever demon they intended."
"What!? But that would mean..."Ferwen trailed off.
"I'm afraid so, if he can survive is now up to him."
"That idiot! I can't believe he... D***it."
