Convert: Wheelchair.” The bracelet on Kye’s wrist transformed into a wheelchair. She had been stuck in bed for days and wanted to go do anything else.

“And what do you think you’re doing?” Hannah asked, glaring at the bedridden blonde.

Kye gestured to Liliana to come over. “I’m sick of this bed. I’m going outside!”

“As your doctor, I cannot allow you to leave that bed.” She turned to Liliana and shook her head.

Liliana had mixed feelings. “I... I cannot go against the orders of my lady.”

Hannah smiled at her. “Are you sure about that?”

Liliana was unsure what to do as Hannah and Kye argued. Michelle suddenly burst in, having overheard some of the argument. She quickly looked around the room before silencing Kye. “Put it away. You’re not going anywhere.” She sighed as she walked over. “Jeez, you are a handful.”

“I want to go outside! This bed and this room are driving me nuts!” Kye rolled over pouting.

“You should only need another week or so to recover well enough to not need healers. I mean, look, you’re already back in a regular bed.” She climbed onto the bed and laid next to Kye. “I understand how strong your soul is, but you need to let your body recover.”

“Knowing all that doesn’t help the part where this is driving me insane. I hate this.”

Michelle leaned over and kissed Kye on the cheek. “You’re cute when you’re frustrated.”

“Oh ho.” Hannah smirked as she watched.

“I won’t fall for your tricks! But, thank you.”

“You two sure have gotten close in the past two weeks.”

“We were close before.”

“Sure, but now you’re going as far as lying there and kissing her, even if it is only on the cheek.”

“Yeah, Mimi, what’s gotten into you?” Kye rubbed it in. “You’re acting as bold as a certain pink-haired girl.”

“Oh, shut up.”

“I remember in our first class together you were super skeptical of me.”

“I was right, though, little miss white mage.”

“Heh, yeah.” Kye gestured at Liliana again. “Help. I still wanna go outside. To the food court even.”

“Absolutely not!” Hannah argued. “We’ll have your meal brought here.”

“Okay, why not? I’m not in as bad of shape now. The pain is mostly gone. I’m still sore all over, but my bones are healed and the rest are mostly healed. I’m in well enough shape to walk, but I’m trying to compromise by using a wheelchair.”

Hannah sighed and called Layla. They quickly caught up her to speed. “Do you really want to be seen in public in a wheelchair?”

Kye was dumbfounded. “Uh... that is what you’re worried about?”

“That and your physical recovery.”

“Okay, those are great arguments and all... but...”

Michelle sighed. “You are a Royal Heir, married to a Royal Candidate, dating another Royal Heir, and dating another Royal Candidate. You of all people should not go out in public in a wheelchair.”

“Okay, so I can accept the arguments about my recovery, but I’m feeling well enough to walk so I’ll push back on that anyway. But this public image thing I don’t care about.”

“Royalty has a reputation to uphold,” Layla explained. “We have to-”

“Goddess, this world and its societal rules.” Kye facepalmed. “Let the people see me in a wheelchair. After that battle I fought, there’s not a single damn person that will think negatively about me needing some recovery time. Like, holy shit, do I have to teach this world how to take risks?”

Layla sighed. “Just looking at you, it’s easy to forget what you are. Okay, tell us then. What is it like in other worlds for world leaders?”

“In one world, there was a leader in a country that was in a wheelchair. There was a scientist in that same world that was in a wheelchair and couldn’t move anything but his fingers... he couldn’t even speak, yet both were renowned as great men.”

The shock on all their faces was evident. “Unbelievable...”

“The list goes on. I’ve come across a few worlds that are obsessed with public image like this one is, but most worlds didn’t think twice about disabilities.”

“We should really have a longer conversation sometime about your past experiences.”

“Maybe, we’ll see. I’ve lived millions of lives so I’ve seen some shit, a lot of it I’d rather forget. But, anyway, if you’re so goddamn worried about me being seen in a wheelchair then I’ll go on foot. I can walk well enough to get from point A to point B. If I go to the food court, I can sit and be fine.” She returned the wheelchair to bracelet form.

“I still say no,” Hannah said.

“I also say no.”

“Alright, you know what?” Kye vanished.

“...”

“...”

Michelle was laughing hysterically. “Haha, holy shit she just straight up teleported.”

“Find her at once!” Layla said, looking at Liliana.

Liliana had a wry smile. “I probably don’t need to look very hard... I’ll go check.”

“Hang on, I’m coming. I could eat, too.” Michelle jumped up and teleported with Liliana.

“Food court?” Layla looked at Hannah.

“Food court.” Hannah sighed. “May as well tell the others and make it a proper outing.”

“She was never this rebellious when she was young.”

“I’d blame it on the teenage years, but considering she’s a few billion years old... or whatever ridiculous number...”

“She’d have to be at least fifteen billion years old. She’s older than our world.”

“Who knows.” Hannah shrugged.

“Aneue!” Yami called out as she ran up to Kye. The twelve-year-old, legally thirteen, white-haired girl jumped into the now healed Kye’s arms as soon as she returned to the palace in New Tokyo. “Welcome back!”

“I missed you, Yami.” Kye held her younger sister tightly. “I’m home.”

Nearby, the king pushed his bashful son toward the sisters. “Go on.”

Empowered, the year-older black-haired boy ran up and joined his sisters. “Welcome home!”

“I missed you, too, Zen.”

Alethea smiled warmly as she watched the scene between siblings unfold. With them were Liliana, Aliana, Astraia, Astarte, Doran, and Michelle. The two Atlantis sisters formally became attendants to Kye and Alethea.

“Who are your friends?” Yami asked.

Kye stepped aside so that the visitors could introduce themselves. Astarte stepped forward first. “Greetings. I am Astarte Atlantis of Terra, attendant of Alethea Atlantis.”

“I am Astraia Atlantis of Terra, attendant of Kye Akari.”

“I am Doran Maya of Drachenheim.”

“I am Michelle Maya of Drachenheim.”

“Oh my! Greetings! I am Yami Akari of Nippon Sekai.”

“I am Zen Akari II of Nippon Sekai.”

Kye sighed. “Doran, Michelle, you forgot something.”

“Huh?” “What?”

Kye turned back to her sister. “Yami, Zen, I am dating these two. Please treat them well!”

“Huh?” Yami was taken aback. “But, Aneue, you are already married!”

“Yes I am.”

“Are you gonna marry them, too?”

“Ah, well...” Kye glanced over at the two in question. They didn’t know how to respond, so Kye turned back to Yami. “Yami, that’s quite rude.”

“Oh, I’m sorry!” She bowed.

Michelle ran over and hugged the younger girl. “You’re so cute! I could hug you all day!”

“I... ca... breath!”

Kye grabbed Michelle and pulled her away from Yami. “Sheesh.” The king was standing there holding back laughter the whole time. “Okay, Yami and Zen, you should go back to your studies now. I need to talk with our father.”

“Okay!”

After Yami and the young Zen ran off, Kye nodded to the king and they joined him in his study.

“You’ve had quite a time these past few months. I’m told you’ve discovered the name of the world.”

“Yes. I was quite surprised to find out.”

“What are your thoughts now that you know?”

“What comes to mind first is a question. Why do the people of this world make so little use of the system’s functions?”

“What do you mean?” Astarte asked. “I thought we used it to its fullest extent. The system tracks our worldly contribution and the archive. It makes spellcasting possible. It even displays a numerical value on our abilities, though only Administrators can view that at the moment.”

“There are many more things you don’t realize.” Kye looked to Alethea. “Are you aware of the system’s functions?” Alethea shook her head. “I see. I’ll explain some of the basics. There are four user tiers. The System User, System Administrator, System Operator, and System Creator. I, as Elysia, am the Creator. There are currently no Operators, and there are a handful of Administrators. The Administrators can do a number of things, including viewing contribution, adding to the Spell Archive, and adding to the Skill Archive. Operators can enable, disable, edit, and remove all of those things. That tier only exists for emergency cases and will automatically apply to an algorithmically selected Administrator if the system deems it necessary. The Creator can freely do literally anything to the system.”

“So, then you could make changes whenever you want?” Zen asked.

“No. My user account is that of Kye Akari, not Elysia. I am a standard User and as such, I currently have no power over the system.” She turned to Astraia. “Would you mind bringing up your control panel so that all of us can see it?” Astraia nodded. “Okay, top left. Access that dropdown and you’ll see a number of options. Go to Custom Command Input.”

“We were told never to mess with that,” Astraia said.

“By whom?”

“The Operator that assigned all of us to Administrator a long time ago. I don’t know their identity.”

“Hmm... so there is an Operator. Let’s talk about that later. For now, open it. It’ll be fine.”

“Well, okay.” Astraia selected the option and a keyboard with a single input field above it appeared.

“Type this: ‘SysAd.user.KyeAkari.elevate’. It’s case sensitive. Father, Astarte, do the same. I’ve already had mother, James, Allison, Hannah, Ginchiyo, Alexandra, and Edward do this. When submitted by an Administrator, it requires ten to execute. Doing so will elevate my account to Administrator.” They nodded and followed her instructions. Soon, Kye was able to open the control panel herself. “Okay, now that I have access...” She pulled up the Custom Command Entry and began furiously typing ‘SysAd.soul.evaluate’. Once she finished, a simple circle appeared on the screen and her body suddenly glowed in radiant gold.

“Soul Aether?” Alethea said. “What are you doing?”

“Promoting myself.”

“Uh...”

Kye placed her hand on the circle and allowed her aether to flow into the screen. A female voice suddenly began speaking. “Aether identified as match for System Creator Elysia. User Account Kye Akari may be elevated to System Operator. Yes or no?”

“Yes.”

“Command accepted. Elevation complete. Loading System Operator controls... complete.”

The screen changed significantly. Kye quickly navigated the panel and found the settings for the spell and skill archives. Spell Archive was listed as enabled, but Skill Archive was disabled.

“Skills weren’t enabled. What? It should have been enabled with spells.” Kye formed a katana out of her aethersteel bracelet. “Seiken.” Her blade glowed with light aether. “Observe. No change to the blade itself.”

She flipped the switch for the Skill Archive and the system voice spoke, “Enable Skill Archive? This requires three Operators to revert once completed. Yes or No.” Kye confirmed it. “Command accepted. Enabling Skill Archive... complete. Examining Spell Archive entries for skills... complete. Moving skills from Spell Archive to Skill Archive... complete.”

Kye used Seiken again. The blade itself began glowing a bright yellow. “See how the blade changed color? Not the aether around the blade, but the blade itself? That’s what you get with a skill.”

“““Ooh.”””

“I don’t know what to say,” Zen said. “...this is revolutionary.”

“Indeed,” Astarte said. “This will change the world.”

“There are a few other things that we can change, but considering the general populace is unaware of the system’s existence, I’ll hold off. Unless the system is announced, significant changes should not be made close together.”

“I agree. Skills alone will upend things quite a bit.”

“Yes. You should be able to browse the Skill Archive now. Take a look sometime.”

Astarte nodded.

“We’ll discuss this in the next council meeting,” Zen said.

Kye closed the system screen and began typing on her NeuraPhone. She sent a message to Layla, James, and Allison about what she’d done. “Speaking of the council, what of the instructor topic?”

“You will not become an instructor this year.”

“The reason?”

“Your pregnancy. No other reason.”

“I see. Very well. I do not disagree with that.”

A few weeks earlier, after Kye’s battle on Atlas, Shiro met with his subordinates in the purple and black mansion overlooking the sea of purple.

“HOW DID SHE SURVIVE?!” Shiro was angry. Not only did the target survive, but an S+ Class beast was killed. He took a deep breath and let it out. “It seems I have to approach this another way. That she was able to survive is ridiculous enough, but she single-handedly killed it?! How was she able to wield that much power in a sixteen-year-old body? It’s unthinkable! Elliot, have you reviewed the fight?”

“Yes, my lord.”

“What did she do?”

“Before the fight began, she uttered the words ‘Aether Drive’ and ‘Awaken’. Her power increased dramatically. During the fight, she casted the ultimate-tier spells Detonation and Kami Ikazuchi, the epic-tier spell Seiken, as well as an unknown spell called Light Nova.”

The blood drained from Shiro’s face as he remembered the very spell that killed him in his past life. “L-L-Light N-Nova?”

“Yes, my lord.”

“W-what the...? How? She was able to reproduce that ungodly technique here? That woman is beyond dangerous. We must redouble our efforts. Triple even. Elliot, wake my pet. Have it strengthen the existing S and A beasts.”

“Yes, my lord.”

“I don’t know what ‘Aether Drive’ is, but ‘Awaken’ is trouble. That’s the command to activate the awakened state when wielding a soul weapon. This allows the wielder to properly wield the weapon’s power as their own. Detonation, Kami Ikazuchi, and Seiken are new spells, probably her own creations. In the meantime, I will continue my research. I believe it would be best to keep a low profile. Abandon all projects involving that woman. Do not get involved with her any further for now.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Shiro turned away and headed for the door. “I must find a way to the remaining universes.”
