After getting properly clothed, each wearing one of Kye’s spare academy uniforms, Kaylie and Layla hugged their mother.

This is so weird.

The twins were beyond ecstatic to be with her. “I’m so happy to see you again, mom!”

Layla nodded. “Yeah! It’s been sooooo long!”

“Yeah...” Kye was still wrapping her head around the idea that she had just given birth twins that were Elysia’s daughter and that one of them used time magic to grow up in an instant. “So... we’re gonna have to go out to that party sooner or later, but I really don’t want to explain this.”

Kaylie shrugged. “It’ll be fine. Just tell them the truth. You’re weird enough already in this world.”

Kye sighed. “Yeah, well... we should definitely not just up and-” She stopped short when her surroundings suddenly changed. Kaylie had subtly teleported the three of them to the party, front and center. “Okay.” She facepalmed.

“Where’s the...” Doran started to ask where the twins were, then laid eyes on them. “What the hell?!” His eyes widened so much that one could think they’d pop out of their sockets.

King Zen was next to him. “Who are they? And where are the-”

““Hi, Daddy!”” The two jumped at Doran, who was so shocked that he didn’t react.

“‘Daddy?’” the King repeated, very confused. He looked over at Kye, whose face was still buried in her palm.

“Hey! Get off my brother!” Elizabeth ran up and pulled Kaylie away, and Danielle pulled Layla away.

“Hey! Let go!” Kaylie struggled, but they only had the physical strength of sixteen-year-old girls. They couldn’t break free from their aunts, who had the better part of two decades’ worth of mana training behind their grasp.

Kye appeared next to them and gently separated them all with white mana. “Okay, calm down. We need to-”

“Kye, who are these girls and why did they call my brother ‘daddy’?” Danielle asked frantically.

“Where are your babies?” Elizabeth added.

“Hold on, calm down and let me-”

“Doran, what the hell, man?” Even Michael jumped into the mix.

“Hey, don’t look at me,” he said. “I’m waiting for-”

“Are they his concubines?” said somebody.

“Who are they?” “What is happening?” “Where are the babies?!”

Kye was growing more exasperated by the second. Atalante was standing near the back and was growing equally annoyed. She began to weave a rune spell to silence everyone, but Kye acted faster. Silvery white chains of aether wrapped around every person who could not resist them. Only the elder royals, who were patiently waiting for the explanation Kye was attempting to give, were excluded from her spell.

“Shut... the hell up... and let me speak,” Kye said coldly. “This chaos is unacceptable and I will not stand for it. Now, calm down and listen.” Before she explained, she quickly connected to Alethea and Michelle through her NeuraPhone so they could hear the explanation as well. After she gave everyone the news, she gestured at the twins. “Go ahead.”

Kaylie stepped forward and curtsied first. “Greetings, everyone. I am Kaylie Maya of the Atlantis Empire.” The crowd gasped. She eyed Atalante and added, “I apologize if that’s a little too forward, but considering that we have citizenship with Terra, Alcanus, Drachenheim, and Nippon Sekai, I just felt it best to roll it all up into one.”

Atalante shrugged. “Smart. I approve.” Kaylie stepped aside and everyone moved their attention to her sister.

Layla curtsied and said, “I am Layla Maya of the Atlantis Empire. It’s my pleasure.”

Kye smiled. “Happy birthday, girls!”

“I swear, I leave you alone for five minutes and something crazy happens...” Alethea sighed. “So... you’re Kaylie and Layla?” The twins nodded. “You’re also immortals?” They nodded again. “And you’re Elysia’s daughters?” Another nod.

“I don’t believe it,” Michelle said bluntly.

“Believe it,” Kye said. “Girls, tell them what your Radiances are.”

“Time and space,” Kaylie said. “Or rather, collectively, Spacetime! That’s how I warped our bodies from birth to sixteen.”

Michelle was beyond skeptical, but listened.

“Mine is Creation and Destruction,” Layla said. “I can... uh... do those two things with pretty much anything. Our powers are kinda broken, right?”

Michelle just gave them a blank stare. “Broken doesn’t even begin to describe it.”

“Can you prove yourselves?” Alethea asked. “I’m hesitant to believe you. I didn’t even know Elysia had daughters, and I’m-”

“Maya the Second,” Kaylie finished. She then pointed at Doran and Michelle. “Adel the Third, Adara the Fourth.” The other children were also in the room listening to the story. “Azalea the Eleventh, Kaede the Twelfth, Ariel the Thirteenth, Adriel the Fourteenth, Anna the Fifteenth, Eve the Primordial-” She froze, as did everyone else.

Evelyn had simply appeared in the room, and she was angry. “What have we here?”

Their eyes widened. Kye had been in a constant state of exasperation since the soul dive conversation. “So, Evelyn, will you confirm it?”

Evelyn smiled and glared at the twins. “You two have been here for less than a day, and you’ve already made a mess. What am I going to do with you?”

“Okay, look, I know you said not to say anything about-” Kaylie began.

“Yet you did anyway. And you even used your Radiance to skip right to sixteen years old.”

“Hey, what’s done is done!” Layla said. “We didn’t want to have to grow up the normal way again!”

Kye and Evelyn shared an exasperated glance. Kye felt a tug on her sleeve. She looked down and saw Joey. “Me, too.”

“Yeah!” Kaede said. “Us, too!”

Kye looked around at the three small redheads. Each nodded. Lastly, she looked at Rei, who just shrugged. “If everyone else is gonna do it, I don’t want to be the only one left this size.”

“Kaylie, can you?”

She gave Kye a thinking face. “I think so, yeah. It’s not exactly mana intensive. The spell will use their own mana to work.”

“Okay.” Kye cleared her throat. “Are you all wearing your aethersilk bands?”

“I am!” “Yes!” “Me, too!”

Kye turned to Evelyn. “What do you think of this?”

Evelyn was exasperated with the twins, but she wouldn’t go as far as reversing the spell, since it was already in place. “It’s only fair. Kaylie, you know the restrictions on time magic. You’ll be careful?”

“Of course!”

“Restrictions?” Rei asked.

Kye nodded. “Time magic can be dangerous. Kaylie?”

“Yeah, so...” and Kaylie began explaining. There were many restrictions on time magic. Time travel was possible, but strictly prohibited without permission. Reversing time or adjusting the speed of time was prohibited. Time magic could not be cast on another person without their approval.

What exactly could a time mage do, then? Any of those things, but not without good reason. In her original body, Kaylie could do anything she wanted so long as she had a reason, except influence people more powerful than herself. She could not time travel back before Elysia existed, for example, and influence Eve’s decision.

In her mortal body, she was limited by the amount of mana she could channel. She could still view the past and future. In a fight, she could easily dodge attacks since she knew where they would hit. She could also augment the speed of her perception, a skill she called Thought Acceleration.

There existed several combat spells that could manipulate time in a controlled space, and Kaylie could easily use those. Kye and Alethea used one in the battle above Arslade in her first year called Temporal Barrier to slow time so much that she virtually froze a demon beast in place.

“My magic will rapidly age your bodies. I added sixteen years to myself and Layla. I don’t want to make anyone as old as Aunt Yami, so I won’t advance anyone beyond that.” She began channeling and soon all six of her targets’ bodies began emitting mana of their own. “This spell will draw mana from your soul, and it will only function if you allow it. You must will it to work. Your minds will not perceive the time passing, though your bodies will experience the dozen or so years in mere seconds. I suggest taking it slow when the spell is over. Is everyone ready?” She looked around and received a nod from each. “One more thing. This will only age your bodies. Your physical strength will reflect that, but your mana output will not change too much. It will increase proportional to your mass, but no more. You’ll have to train on your own to catch up. Here goes...”

She paused for a moment and took a deep breath. “Target: Kaede; degree: 4452. Targets: Rei, Joey; degree: 4717. Targets: Ariel, Adriel, Anna; degree: 4900. Time Dilation.

Each of their bodies began glowing the color of their soul and quickly grew too bright to see. When the light faded, all six of them had grown to the equivalent of sixteen years old, with their clothes adjusted to their new sizes. Rei and Joey grew to be five feet and three inches tall. Anna was the next at five-six, Ariel at five-seven, Kaede at five-eight, and Adriel at five-eleven.

“Hey, what? No fair!” Rei said. “I was five-nine when I was Suzuka! Why are you three so tall?!”

Joey hugged her fraternal twin. “I wanted to be taller, too.”

“Joey! We’re so shooooort!”

Kaylie and Layla were both five-eight, the same as Kaede. The older Layla, Allison, James, and Hannah teleported in, having sensed the spike in mana and were concerned.

“So it’s true...” Hannah mumbled.

“The hell?” James said.

“Kye?” older Layla asked.

Allison said nothing. Nothing surprised her anymore.

“Kye, what happened?” Her mother looked around at the now-grown children. “Did all of you...? Kye?”

Kye was looking at Rei with a tear in each eye.

“Kye?” Layla stepped closer and saw her tears. “Sweetie?”

Kye stood up and buried her face in her mother’s chest. “My kids are all grown up!”

Doran was just sitting there quietly, staring at his now-grown kids, and Alethea was staring blankly at nothing, as though the life had drained out of her.

“I think I’m getting that empty nest feeling...” Michelle said. “Is this one gonna do the same thing?” She had a tear in each eye, too.

After a few minutes of crying into her mother’s chest, Kye pulled away. With her eyes red and still watery, she angrily looked at all eight of their now-grown kids. “Hey. All of you! I’m training you hard! You wanna skip your childhood? Fine, okay. We’re gonna put a whole childhood’s worth of time together by the end of the year, then you’re all starting school! And you’re all gonna have me for mana class!”

“And me for magic!” Alethea said, jumping up from her blank state. “I’m starting as an instructor next year, myself.

“Hey Allison, can we do a specialty class for sword training?” Doran asked. “I think I have eight students lined up already.”

“Yeah, sure. I’ll make that happen.”

Michelle smirked. “And they’ll also take a staff class with me.”

“Whoa, all four of you are gonna be instructors?” Kye’s mother asked.

Kye pounded one fist into another and smirked, her red eyes finally dried up. “Get ready kids! You just ripped your parents out of eight childhoods! We’re getting our dues one way or another!”
