Chapter 18: (S1) EP 16|Mari And Joseveth

“Xy, you really need to let go of me sometimes. I could’ve handled them for you!” Zao exclaimed in frustration.

“Now is not the time, you will have your chance.” 

“Who even were they?”

“They must be fellow Hunters, I could sense an aura from them that seemed a lot like ours.” 

“Ah, right. Speaking of which, I’ve heard some tales regarding the hunting.” Zao said resting the back of his head on his hands.

“Like what?”

“I’m sure we both thought that the “tests” the Celestials would give you were just ordinary tests or whatever. Well, apparently they are not.”

“What do you mean?” Xy replied.

“You know Alex, right? Apparently, he knew Yehuda.”

“You mean THE Yehuda?” Xy replied in awe.

“Yes, the Terminator.”

“Why would Yehuda even associate himself with, well… Normal people?”

“Hey! Alex is not an ordinary person, he went through a lot!”

“Anyways, Yehuda would also often leave his dragon at this keep.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, apparently he had collected his fourth essence right here, in birane, and decided to stay here for a while.”

“Alex told me that he seemed like such a calm person, yet holding a presence that could make anyone fall on their knees. Yehuda was not blood-related to Sun Lee, yet he seemed like absolute royalty.”

“I mean, I understand that…”

“He told Alex about the tests he had been going through, it was at that point in time when he had collected four out of the seven essences”

“Yikes, I don’t think anyone had ever gotten past the three essences…” Xy replied.

“I know, right? Well, he told Alex that the tests depended on one’s life experiences or something.”

‘Life experiences…’ Xy thought.

“That’s all that Alex told me.” 

“Why didn’t you ask Alex earlier…” Xy said palming his face.

“I don’t know, it just popped into my head!”

“Well let's visit him tomorrow and ask him about it, we’ve arrived anyways.”

Upon arriving at their house, they realized they forgot their keys at home when they left.

*Knock knock knock*

Fortunately, their mother opened the door and resembled happiness upon seeing her two sons.

“My boys, welcome back home!” 

“Hello mother, sorry we made it so late.” Xy replied.

“It is okay, dinner has just been finished anyways. How was it?”

“How was what?” Xy replied.

“You know, the Shaman? Zao told me about it last night.”

“Oh! Well, it did not go too well, we were planning on looking for another Shaman.”

“Yeah… Seems like he was not much of help regarding his hallucinations.” Zao replied.

“Well let’s talk about the details later, but now it’s dinner time!”

There was some backstory behind this specific family tree.

Xy was adopted by the woman he refers to as his mother, Mari, the same goes for his father, Joseveth. 

Joseveth and Mari's origins of their Nations are unknown.

However, it was known that they both were situated in the Black Dragons nation and lived in the same place Xy and Zao now live in.

The couple was living a rather peaceful life until a fateful night occurred.

On one day, they were having a delightful dinner with their selves. The fun went on until they both heard knockings on their front door.

Joseveth opened the door and saw a person who was completely covered in a black cloak, and had their entire body covered to the point of the only visible aspect being their eyes, however, it was hard to detect exactly what color their eyes were.

The person held the small body of the newborn Xy , he was wrapped in a white cloth, and appeared to be asleep.

“Who are you? What are you doing at my house?”

“Please… I beg you. Take care of this child.”

“What?”

“Joseveth, what is happening?” Mari said walking towards her husband.

Crying baby noises

“Oh shoot, Zao got awake, thanks!” Mari exclaimed to the person holding Xy.

“I’ll go take care of Zao.”

“I’m sorry bu-”

“Please! Save this child.”

“Why do I need to save him?! Get out!” Joseveth exclaimed afterwards shutting the door.

‘What a freak.’ He thought.

“Mari, you alright?”

“Yes, dear! Just give me a second.”

“Who was that at the door, Joseveth?”

“I don’t even know…-”

*Knock knock knock*

It was the same person standing in front of their door.

“Listen, buddy. If you won’t leave in ten seconds I will make you leave!” Joseveth shouted.

“Dear, you’ll wake up Zao. Please, what is the matter?”

“Please… Take care of this child... He is in great danger. I leave him in your hands, only you can take care of our saviour.”

“Your saviour?”

“This child will be in great danger and face many casualities, but, I know that he will find me. One day, he will return to me.”

"We are not nor is there any better suited place for him..."

The person’s voice softened deeply, and tears started falling from their eyes.

“Fine. We will take the child.” Mari said.

“But dear! We don’t even know who they are, what is this child’s name even!”

“I feel like we have to, besides, Zao will finally have a brother!”

“You shall not speak of his name.”

“Well, what is it?” Mari replied.

“Do never, speak of the name of...

...

“What happens when we do?” Mari asked.

“His death would be inevitable...”

“What did you make mother?”

“Pork cutlet bowl!” 

“YES!” Zao shouted in joy.

“I could already smell the deliciousness of the pork!”

“I know it is your favorite, dear!” Mari replied.

"Atleast the day has been payed off well, right, Xy?" Zao joyfully said.

"Indeed it has." Xy replied with a smile on his face.
