[Quest Achieved Successfully. Rewards: 250 Karma Points, 30.000 Experience Points, 8 Stats Points, 3 Skill Points]

I've killed so many humans, but I didn't feel anything. Not because I saw what they were doing and I felt justified in my actions, that was just the motive of the killing.

Even when I killed those Mandrills there wasn't any emotional turmoil about the killing aspect, I felt complicated because I wasn't sure whether I was doing the right thing or not.

For me the right thing is very simple, a decision without any emotional interference.

I couldn't help but wonder if this was the only way? I do not want to be self-delusional, I know how easy it is for us to make ourselves believe something just to avoid feeling guilty.

So even though I had to kill a lot of humans today, it didn't make that much of a difference to me. As for the process itself, it wasn't hard.

At the end of the day, our biology plays a big part in how we think, feel and act. My biology now is that of a monster, I can say without any shred of shame that the killing aspect was very enjoyable not because I chose for it to be so, we have no control over our emotions and I'm no idiot to run, change or suppress something that is beyond my control.

First, because I'm a predator, seeing those helpless little prey getting pecked to death by me, the cries of pain, the blood, and everything was something that my bestial instincts craved. Second, I just saw them gang-raping several defenseless young women, so there was definitely that psychological element of the hero with all of the self-righteousness.

Again it wasn't something that I was actively thinking of, thinking just happens and I was simply aware of it happening. Finally, the notification sounds, this was a big factor as to why it was enjoyable, with every death there was a Ding sound, and with every Ding, there was a strong feeling of improvement and progression.

Still, I was always questioning the necessity of death. I could have let them go, but to do that I'd sentence a lot of other people to death and torture. So letting them go was even more twisted and immoral than not letting them go.

I could have captured them, but what would I do with this many humans in the forest? Teach them the moral ways and make them change their ways? It was even more ridiculous. I also didn't want to keep with me that much trouble knowing full well how intelligent and cunning humans can be.

Maybe if I had a portable prison with me, I would just imprison the shit out of them and let them repent or something.

But for now, the only rational, emotional and moral decision was death, and with that conclusion a literal blood bath began.

I killed the stronger ones, mainly the Peak stage with wind blades. As for the others, it was either a direct blow to the head with my beak or squeezing their head with my claws until they explode.

Needless to say, I instantly killed everyone I laid my eyes on.

There were a lot of bandits, around forty! I couldn't kill all of them in the camp, and a lot of them ran away the moment they realized the hopelessness of the situation. However, I had my map ready covering a range of 600 meters. I can say with absolute certainty no one survived, I killed every single one of them.

I'm certain because I made the system calculate the dots when I first arrived, I then calculated the notifications afterwards.

Seven Peak, twelve High, and nineteen Mid rank. So thirty-eight to be exact.

The moment I killed the last one, I received my Quest Reward and I directly used my first-time discount and bought the divine cultivation manual.

[Stygian Tempest Heavenly Arts] Price: 10.000 Karma Points. (Discount -90%: 1.000 Karma Points.)

[Congratulations! You have met the required condition to unlock a new System function!]

[Inventory is now available]

A new very useful system function. I can store anything I want in a void-like space in the depths of my mind.

I don't actually know how large it is, but I've returned and brought back every single body that I killed.

I then looted the four big Foundation Establishment guys, only the leader had something truly worth noting.

He had a ring on his finger with an inventory inside of it, it was simply bonkers!

I thought the system was crazy as it is, but even this guy had something as magical as that.

When I first saw him grabbing things out of thin air, I thought he was like some sort of void magician capable of opening portals and shit.

I also remembered the pill bottle, that's why I went to fetch it. I noticed that the long blonde curly-haired woman was on the verge of death.

So, after killing everyone, I stored their bodies to feed the kids. I won't eat them of course, that's too cannibalistic for my taste with zero rewards. Though technically I'm not human anymore, emotions don't care about technicalities. I've been a human for more than twenty years, while I was a monster for no more than two weeks.

To be fair though, I would eat a human if offered a worthwhile reward. Let's say 5 Stats a body, I would happily devour all of them. But Alas! I only stand to gain a bit of nutrient to overcome a huge psychological obstacle, not worth it. I can always hunt and eat without feeling like I was Hannibal Lecter.

I then brought with me the bodies of the leader and his three lackeys, with their heads of course. I placed them on top of the grill that they were using to roast meat with, I wasn't going to make roasted human meat.

I was preparing a sort of small psychological treatment for the women, I thought maybe seeing the bandits in this state would hopefully help in some way? It just seemed like a good idea.

First, I went towards the one closest to death, I guided the pink pill with my Mana into her mouth. Then I gently cut the steel rope with my claw and removed the cloth from her mouth because she seemed to be on the verge of suffocating to death, veins bulging and she looked blue all over.

This one also happened to be the one with the strongest will to live, the others looked so broken but with good reason of course.

She was also fast to adapt to the situation, even though I talked with her she didn't seem to be surprised at first, but then when I said 'If you say so she was so shocked that she fell.

"Why are you surprised now and not before?", I asked puzzled. I was getting used to Leria's universal language, I bought its scroll from the shop with 50 Karma Points. Leaving me with only 100!

She was shocked for a long while, then after she calmed herself down, she stood up looked at me, and replied "How can you talk?"

"I learned the language of course.", I said as if it was a matter of course, but I knew how strange the whole situation is.

"I thought you are the spirit pet of a beast tamer, that's why I was surprised when you spoke again," she said with a confused yet scared look.

"What's a beast tamer?" I asked even though from the name I could tell what it was, I just wanted to say something because I was feeling strange.

This girl is definitely around my age but she looked at me like how one would look at a pet or a monster, I couldn't help but feel complicated. However, it wasn't the time for that right now. I ignored it and looked at her.

"It's someone who has beast-taming skills and can control demon beasts to a certain extent", hearing her answer I gave an understanding look.

Maybe she noticed something off about my expression because she asked "Is there something wrong?"

After thinking for a while, I said, "No I was just thinking that to not scare the others it's better if you tell them that I'm a spirit pet and the beast master left leaving me here to protect you. Needless to say I will not kill you, you don't have to worry"

She seemed to be caught off guard by my answer and said Ok. I gave her a bit of time to calm down and comforted her a bit, just making sure to appear harmless. After that, we got out of the room and I told her to follow me.

Seeing the camp filled with blood, human arms and legs lying around she was shocked, and almost vomited. There was also a strong pungent smell of blood permeating the air.

"Is this your first time seeing blood", I asked confused. I thought this world would be bloody but her reaction seemed a bit out of the ordinary. Maybe it's the emotional reaction because they were her tormentors?

"No, I just don't like the smell." is what she uttered. I was observing her reaction and she seemed to be going through a lot of emotions at the same time.

I was going towards the edge of the camp, there was a big wooden two-story house. I broke down the door and told her to go upstairs, and I followed her.

What we saw was something that shocked both of us to the core!

A short black-haired girl with a revealing gown was unconscious on the ground, but the shocking part was the fact that her whole face was disfigured and her hands were filled with hair and blood.

Her previous silky hair was no more, and she looked bald with only small hair patches here and there.

She was lying unconscious in a puddle of her blood, so much blood. All of that blood was the result of her trying to mutilate herself.

*Thud*

The curly-haired girl dropped to her knees with tears falling like a river. She looked so shocked and she could barely voice out with a quivering voice "Cai Yi..."
