Chapter 1: Sacrifice

On a stormy night where explosions can be heard surrounding, a man and a woman who seem to be fighting an army of dark figures.

"We can't go on any longer, they're gonna catch up to us soon!" - The woman said.

"You can run from us for a moment but not forever!" - One of the figures chasing exclaimed.

Suddenly a spear is thrown from the group and pierced the fleeing man in the shoulder. "Ha! Let's see how you can continue running from us now!" - said the dark figure that had thrown the spear.

The man looked back but the spear was already aiming straight for his shoulder, and with the army chasing him, he was filled with openings.

"ARGHHH" -The man screamed as the spear pierced his shoulder like silk. The fleeing man is now in a devastating state with his shoulder bleeding furiously, and his bloody body full of wounds. "Even if I die I will bring all of you to down with me!"

"Pyro storm!"

A hurricane starts to form as it gathers strength from the storm, but instead of attacking the man was using it to stall out with its strength. The heat radiating from the storm was strong enough to even melt metal, but to the dark figures, it was nothing.

"Hahaha. What can you do now with the state of your body?" - The man who seems to be the leader of the army overwhelmed the storm with an amethyst amulet.

"No, that can't be... that amulet... h...how do you have it?"

"Hahaha, this amulet was lent to me, since the king knows that you have methods to escape."

"Leader, why do we have to go through all this? Can't we just dive in and capture them? Even his high-tier spell was destroyed like nothing."

"Shut up, you know nothing that spell he used wasn't for fighting us, but rather to stall for time. Am I right?"

"To think that a mere commander of a group like that, to be this smart, seems like this will be a hard situation for me to get out of."

Two bodies fell right as the Pyro Storm dissipated. The leader's face frowned at this sight. "How?" That was the only question wavering in his thought as he watches the two bodies fall to the ground. The Leader was very curious since this is the squad personally trained by the second prince.

"That amulet... you got it from him right?"

"Seems like you've figured it out. That's right the second prince gave me this to ensure that I capture you two at all cost."

"I see, even though it has been many years, he still hasn't forgotten about that day."

"I've already answered you, it's your turn now." The leader was now getting impatient since he doesn't know what else the man was planning, as the time ticked slowly.

"Hahaha, you want to know how I did it? How about you come here and I'll tell you."

"Humph, do you think I'm that stupid? Fine. If you don't want to answer me then be prepared for the consequences. You guys go surround them, they're exhausted they won't be able to resist."

The army full of dark figures starts to form a circle around the exhausted man and woman. The two were now on their last leg since they were chased for many days, and even though they tried to fight back it was too difficult since they were outnumbered.

"Hey, leader that woman has a great figure, you don't mind if we play with her for a bit right?" As the man licked his finger and stared at the woman's body, with saliva dripping down the side of his mouth.

"Ha! Do whatever you want, but remember that we must bring her back in one piece." As the leader said this, the group of dark figures seems to be even more excited, staring at the woman with eyes full of lust.

"Scumbag! Even if I die I won't let you touch me!" Said the woman that is filled with wounds and fresh blood flowing down her arms, that seems to be holding a basket.

As she was running, the dark figures continues to throw out spears, and many other unclassified weapons.

The storm continues to rage on as the two figures fight back, but everything spell they used was useless in front of the amethyst amulet.

"Now that it has gotten to this point, just give up, it's meaningless to continue this game of tag." - The leader said with a serious expression.

"Hahaha! Did you really think that we've been running with no plans?"

"Astro Field!"

A barrier starts to form around the two and the mana around them starts to shiver. The barrier was enough to cover a colosseum was formed.

"Everyone! That's a high-tier array we have to find its cores and break it! Anyone who locates it first will be rewarded handsomely."

Many dark figures went out and starts to send out mana waves to locate the array's cores. With the array being a high-class tier it wasn't an easy task to find the cores, let alone break them.

Meanwhile, inside the barrier, the man is now trying to make a portal to send them far away from the army. "Just a bit more and I can get us out, trust me!" The woman looked at the man who is filled with wounds trying his hardest to open a portal.

"It's fine I will hold the array in place, take your time don't hurt yourself." She walked to the center of the array, and send mana to all the cores while looking back at her husband worriedly.

'With the portal, I've set up last time I went here it should be possible for me to open another one connecting to it! With her holding the array down I now have enough time to connect it before they locate all the cores."

The array was slowly weakening, but with the array being a rare high-class one it had 128 cores. The dark army had already wiped out 76 cores. Since the array was set up in a hurry they were able to smoothly locate all of it, when suddenly the cores seems to be powered by another source of mana fighting back against them.

"Bunch of useless fools. Step aside I'll show you how what they mean by the weak can only be cowered by the strong."

The leader soon went in front of the barrier and brought out the amulet that is now radiating a golden light that pierces a hole through the barrier.

'Impossible! Even though I set it up in a hurry, it shouldn't be this easy even for that amulet'

"Wait... no.. don't tell me he also took part in this..."

"Hahaha! You see, the second prince isn't the only one that wants you. *Sigh* Even I feel bad for your fate having them as your enemy."

The ray of golden lights is now dissolving the barriers and all 128 cores were cut off from its source. The woman that was supplying the mana for the cores, is now in an even worse state after losing a large amount of mana.

Out of nowhere violent mana starts to disturb the space in front of the man and a portal was formed. From the leader's perspective, he thought that the couple was trying to end their lives before they could capture them.

He quickly dispersed his thought after remembering what was in the basket.

"Hey, just come back with us quietly, even though you'll be punish it's not like your gonna die, why are you being so stubborn?"

"You know nothing... going back there is like giving up my life... I would rather die than go back to that hell."

"I guess it's useless to persuade you now, but I will still give you this one last chance since that thing inside your basket is the reason why you're refusing right?"

"..."

The leader was met with silence as he stared down at the figure in front of the portal. He feared that if the man somehow escaped, his head would fall off the moment he step back into the domain. Seeing that the two were trying to stall for time the leader decided to act.

"Humph! It's useless to try and fool me now this is your fate, now follow me back!" As he starts to dive toward the portal.

Right as he landed in front of the portal, the two that were surrounded vanished in a blink of an eye.

Swoosh....

Clank!

The thunderstorm continues to rage on, while the face of the leader darkens.

"Why are all of you just standing there? GO CHASE THEM DOWN!" - The leader exclaimed trying to calm himself down.

'No, I've to find them or he will surely kill me!'

With that, the army split up, and start pursuing the man and woman.

In front of a small house, two figures appeared out of nowhere.

In the basket that the woman was holding, there was a baby that was covered with a dark aura, making the baby seems almost invisible.

The woman has a worried expression on.

"There's no more time we can't delay any longer!"

"No, you can't it's too dangerous!"

"It's our only choice, he has to live, he's my son!"

The woman started to perform several hand signs, as the man watched her helplessly.

Clank!

The man's heart was racing each time the thunder struck, he felt like he has been watching her performing the spell for centuries.

As the woman continues to perform the spell, her life energy seems to be draining every second. Right, when the life energy completely dissipated, she fell to the ground, and her body starts to become dull every second.

The man helped his wife up as she watches the child whom she has sacrificed her life to save become more vivid, as the aura wears off. "I did it, I've fulfilled my duty as your mother, now I can leave this world in peace." The woman thought out loud with a smile on her face.

Thud!

She lay lifelessly in her husband's embrace and till the last moment, the smile never left her face. The man's face was filled with rain, but if someone was there they could tell the man was drenched in tears.

He muttered something quietly and the woman's body disappeared, now leaving the father and the son in the basket.

'Alice, I swear that I'll bring you back at all cost trust me! Even if I have to give up my soul I'll bring you back, and let them feel my wrath after doing this to us!'

The anger has now overtaken him, and his expression right now was no less like a wild beast!

Creak!

The door from the small house opened, and a scared couple could be seen coming out.

"W-who are you? What do you want from us?"

The couple was very frightened since they have moved to an unknown place to avoid trouble from outsiders and the man's expression.

The man took the basket and handed it to the frightened couple. "Please take care of the baby, his name is Zin."

The couple was confused as they stared at the mysterious man who disappear right after handing the basket to them.

Looking down at the basket there was a cute asleep baby boy in there.

Even though the couple was confused they still took them in, since the couple was living alone and, the baby was like a God's gift to them.

"Let's go inside the storm is still raging, it would be a problem if he wake up now."
