Eon went in a different direction and left the group behind after the long hunt and while the Peasants carried their catches for the day. As the sun began to set on the horizon, Eon returned to the path that led to his chosen home. To easily track his path back, he transformed into his Slug form, which made his journey much easier than it would have been in Peasant form due to his wider range of sight and smell.
As he approached the Red Island's boundary, which he had been using as a route for days, the sun had already set and darkness had taken over. Eon was only a few minutes away from home; all he had to do was cross the river's shallow path... or so he believed.
Eon took a long pause, his gaze wandering around the vast river in front of him. He made his way back home, and the familiar scenery of the forest across the river greeted him. The shallow section of the river, however, had vanished for reasons he couldn't fathom. In front of Eon was a raging river with violent water flowing through it. The river had changed so much that there was no longer any trace of the path he had taken just the morning before.
The once-shallow river was excavated so deep that swimming through it was nearly impossible. One could try, but they would have to fight against the crashing waves.
Eon crawled forward, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing, but rushed away when a ball of water surged toward him.
It was not a warning; it was an attack with the intent to harm. If that attack managed to hit him, it would be devastating.
As his gooey eyes darted to the monsters swimming in the river, Eon growled.

A single level 3 Gerolak Tadpole emerged first, moving smoothly in the middle of the river's raging waves, unaffected by the powerful current of water passing through. Then, an army of 15 level 1 Gerolak Tadpoles appeared and raised their heads. The designated gatekeepers were re-stationed as the water in this section of the river returned to its normal state.
None of the Gerolak Tadpoles attacked; instead, they swam silently and watched Eon, waiting for his next move. They were waiting to see if he would continue to try to cross and be crushed by the gatekeepers' assault, or if he would back away and return to where the Peasant evolution line dominated.
The Kanundra Hell's gate had finally been closed, and leaving the Red Island was no longer permitted. Attempting to cross the river would result in death.
Eon's gooey eyes traveled across the river to what he thought was the safest place in this forest. The sun was eventually devoured by the black sky, and the entire area became blindingly dark. Eon growled one last time before crawling away from the river and abandoning his plan to cross. The raging river was a difficult hindrance in and of itself, but the addition of Gerolak Tadpoles attacking anyone who dared to swim across exacerbated an already difficult situation.
He was trapped.
The river paths were no longer an option for getting out of the infamous Red Island.

The entire area was pitch black, with only a sliver of light coming from the sky as the cloud roared and unleashed thunderstrikes in various locations throughout the forest. The towering trees were swaying to the harsh music of the wind.
Eon, who was caught in a storm after being forbidden from crossing the river, hid inside the trunk of a dead tree. The ravaging freezing wind was hitting him, while the rain kept him and his makeshift shelter wet and cold. His Slug body curled as he hugged himself in an attempt to relieve the intense cold; it worked, but the difference was so subtle that it was unnoticeable.
As he shivered, Eon's retractable eyes hid in his head. He was out in the open, getting whipped around by the cold wind, and he stayed that way for a few hours. It was the coldest he had felt since arriving in Giera, and unlike his crystal ball form, which could not feel anything even if bombarded by a raging storm, the Slug form felt everything, and all he could do was endure until it was over.
He waited for another morning to arrive, and it did.

Birds chirped as the bright rays of sunlight passed through the leaves above. As the plant and leaves danced in unison, the damp area became brighter and warmer.
Life began to move around the Red Island, with birds casting shadows as they flew around, groups of Slugs feeding on the algae left behind by the heavy rain the night before, and Diviar Wolves trapped inside the place patrolling for a way out, which they would never find.
Eon, who had curled his entire body, raised his eyes and looked around. He could smell his surroundings, and after confirming that there was no apparent danger nearby, he paused for a few seconds before finally moving. He crawled out from the dead tree's trunk, and as he did so, he began to feed on the algae stuck to the stones in his path.
After he'd had his fill of the algae, he embarked on his day's journey, heading straight for Death Canyon. He couldn't go back to the other side of the river for the time being because he'd be attacked if he did.
He didn't need to go across, though, because he had everything he needed in this place. He was well aware of the opportunities available to him on this island.
He pushed his body forward, hiding between tall grasses and narrowed stones, ignoring the group of monsters he passed.
[Deceitful Shapeshifter has been activated.]
Eon began traveling in Peasant form after reaching a certain distance from the Death Canyon. After a few hours of following the same path, he arrived at Death Canyon once more.
Despite the powerful storm the night before, the Peasant evolution line colony was just as active as it had been the day before. The army of peasants was patrolling the colony's territory, and massive crowds were seen leaving and entering the territory. Before Eon could even reach the Death Canyon, another group of 30 Peasants led by a level 2 leader passed through; it was a different group, but it made no difference to Eon.
Eon marched with the 30 new peasants, who, like the others, had no reaction to his presence.
Another hunt was about to begin.
Even though he was stuck in one place, his goal remained the same, and the situation he was in was never a hindrance; in fact, it provided Eon with a significant advantage in achieving his goal of becoming stronger.
The truth was... On this island, Eon was not stuck with the feared Peasant evolution line... On this forbidden cage-like island, all of the inhabitants were trapped with him.
Eon's exploitation was about to begin, and like the storms that constantly raged through Kegali's great forest... He'd be unstoppable and merciless.
