The raging storm that had raged throughout Kegali's great forest all night came to an end, and the sun rose again from the horizon. The sunlight passed through the thick leaves of the trees that covered the area, bringing dim light to the humid environment.

The sounds of birds celebrating the arrival of a new morning, singing in unison, along with the sound of the nearby river, became nature's soothing music.

A pair of gooey eyes poked out from the pile of stones and roots that served as the walls of a chamber within a tree. The gooey eyes wandered around the area before finally emerging, revealing a fully healed body with no trace of the suffering it had endured the day before.

Eon crawled out of his hiding place and into the wet tall grasses. He moved his eyes in the direction of the river, constantly moving them to look for any nearby creatures.

The overflowing river greeted him, the raging water passing through with a strong sound, pushing anything in its path. Massive logs and tree branches were floating down the river. Crossing would be extremely dangerous.

After a few seconds of staring at the river in front of him, Eon began to crawl and explore the area on his side of the river. And, as before, he was hiding between tall grasses, stone piles, and thick trees, looking for any opportunity in his path.

The forest of Kegali after a powerful storm was peaceful; there were almost no creatures lurking nearby, and the place was dominated by silence, with only the gentle wind echoing throughout.

Slugs, Diviar wolves, and peasants were among the most common inhabitants living in lands in this part of the forest. The Slugs, which took advantage of the algae left by the storm, were the ones Eon encountered the most while traveling for hours. However, they were all part of a group, and lone Slugs like himself were extremely rare. Diviar wolves, on the other hand, were not active during the day, and Peasants were monsters he avoided at all costs; fortunately, he had not encountered a group of them again.

Eon went to the river's edge while crawling away from the group of Slugs, which consisted of six members. The deep sound of a storming river echoed, with the occasional slap of water reaching the river's edge. The riverbank was no longer visible; what could be seen was the deep water that ran throughout.

Eon came to a halt right at the edge, under the cover of the tall grasses, his gooey eyes fixed on what was going on in the middle of the river.

A massive log of tree passed through the river, accompanied by a group of peasants struggling to hold on to the log with their mandibles as they were pushed by the water and would soon drown. Floating around them were the bodies of Peasants who died on their journey, which began in the upper reaches of the river.

Those Peasants were attempting to cross the river to hunt for food as usual, but due to the powerful wave of the water, the massive logs they were using as bridges were washed away, or so it appeared at first glance. The sudden change in the water's wave was insufficient to cause this tragedy. It was orchestrated with great care.

Another log passed through, and like the previous one, it had a band of Peasants clinging to it as the merciless river slammed into them, forcing them to let go. Then there was a barrage of Water Balls thrown from the river, shooting the Peasants until they lost their grip.

What emerged from the raging river was an army of water dwellers, the ones responsible for the logs used as bridges by the peasants being crushed by the river's raging water. Peasants could be said to be the dominant inhabitants of the lands, but this was not the case in the deep merciless rivers.

Every time a Peasant army attempted to cross the river, they all emerged to hunt. Like water hawks swooping down on helpless prey.

The Gerolak Tadpoles were shooting the trapped Peasants in the water with synchrony and ferocity. And once any of the Peasants let go or died from assault, they used their racial exclusive skill, Long Jump, to catch their target, which was not only useful for jumping in lands, but it could also make a Gerolak Tadpole propel in the water without the need for any resistance to start up their jump. Most of the time, there were multiple Gerolak Tadpoles fighting over one Peasant, resulting in the Peasants being torn apart with no way to fight back.

A massacre that the land's inhabitants could not even imagine fighting back against; all they could do was hold on to the log that was carrying them through the water until the end of their lives. Even if they tried to swim toward the riverbank, they would be eaten or killed before they got halfway through the raging river. Even one of the Peasants was unable to return to the land.

However, even an army of Gerolak Tadpoles could not launch such a massive and fruitful attack; after all, an army of Peasants was considered dangerous. It was led by a more powerful Gerolak ahead of the river, a Gerolak so powerful that even an army of Peasants couldn't defeat it. That a terrifying band of Peasants whom Eon regarded as extremely dangerous was nothing more than food for its offspring. They were attacking the army of the Peasants in order to feed them to the next generation of their evolution line.

Eon wasn't even prepared to face it yet, but only time would tell when he did.

It was, however, nature's way of balancing. If Gerolaks were not present to eliminate the Peasants attempting to cross the river, especially a massive army of them, they would cause disaster on the other side, destroying the balance in Kegali's forest. The Gerolak evolution line was one of the monster species that stood in the way of the Peasant evolution line, and they did an excellent job of it.

Eon was watching the massacre of the ferocious peasants when he was interrupted by a ball of water rushing toward him. He moved away, and luckily, it didn't hit him.

When he shifted his gaze to the river's edge, he was greeted by three Gerolak Tadpoles floating in the water, their eyes fixed on him. Nothing came after the first Water Ball, but more would follow if he did not leave the area.

Eon simply growled and crawled away from the scene, the Gerolak Tadpoles following him, watching his gooey eyes fade into their view. This was not a fight Eon was willing to take on, at least not yet.

As the sun rose higher in the sky, Eon began to wander again, looking for any opportunity that might present itself.

And it certainly would... Just up ahead, after the ferocious giant amphibian's destructive attack on the army of Peasants attempting to cross the river, what would be left would be scattered and scarred disposable soldiers struggling to survive without an army on their side.
