As another morning arrived, the sun rose above the great forest of Kegali, and nature began to make sounds along with the windows of sunlight passing through the dimly lit and humid area. A certain river that separated two areas finally calmed down, making the water passing through more gentle. The stones that had been used as bridges reappeared and paved the way to the other side of the river.
This section of the river used to be a deep and violent river through which no monster could pass.
Eon, in his Slug form, passed through the river, his seemingly misplaced red mandibles closing and opening repeatedly. He was gripping the stones with his newly acquired mandibles as he traveled, making his crossing much easier than before.
He had no idea that as he crossed the river, a certain pair of eyes had been watching him and had been watching him every time he crossed. It hadn't moved in months, just stood there watching from the depths of the river. But it eventually began to move, closing the temporary entrance it had opened in the infamous Kanundra Hell's gate.
When he got to the other side of the river, he went in the direction he knew. He hid under grasses and dried leaves, and he avoided the section of the river where the Gerolak Tadpoles were. Even though he had only traveled this path twice, he was already familiar with it and could easily find the right direction he wanted to go.
He came across groups of Slugs crowding together as they ate algae on the stones and wood, but he chose not to approach them and continued on his way, paying no attention to the groups. The groups of Slugs, on the other hand, could only stare at him as he passed through them, staring at his unusual massive mandibles dangling from his smaller head. It wasn't every day that one came across a crawling Slug with disproportionate mandibles dangling from it.
Eon crawled for several hours until he reached his desired designation. He poked his head through the tall grasses and wandered his eyes, which could smell and see at the same time, though the smell function was more powerful than the seeing function. His gooey eyes darted to the familiar spot, where he had last seen the five Slugs and where they had been attacked by an army of Peasants.
He remained motionless, his eyes darting around, looking for a hint in the air but finding none. He emerged from the grassy cover after a few moments.

Eon walked forward on his six legs, his head moving left and right as he struggled to see what was around him. Unlike the Slug form, which had a wider range of vision as well as an impressive sense of smell, the Peasant form had a very limited line of sight due to the placement of his dot-like black eyes on the side of his large head. He had to move his entire head to look around. His antennae moved, but they were essentially useless to him because he lacked the racial exclusive skill, Sensory Antennae.
Eon tilted his head forward, moving slowly at first because he was still getting used to his six legs, but after a few seconds, he began to accelerate.
To see properly, he could have used Slug form's eyes, which were far superior to Peasant's, but doing so would have jeopardized his mission.
He followed the path where the army of peasants emerged and climbed to higher ground. He walked in one direction, hoping to see any signs of Peasants ahead, and after a few hours of searching, his eyes were finally drawn to something familiar.
RACE: Peasant [Level: 1/10].
HP: 10/10
MP: 10/10
First, he came across a group of ten Peasants who appeared out of nowhere from the thicket of grasses. They had seen him coming from afar as expected, using their racial exclusive skill, Sensory Antennae, which Eon lacked. The army of ten did not even approach him after seeing him and correctly reading his heat signal, which was identical to theirs. They were Peasants assigned to patrol the area, and they would only react if there was a sign of danger or unwelcome intruders... They considered Eon to be neither of the two.
Eon walked forward without hesitation, passing by more and more Peasants along the way. Hundreds of them were scattered around the area, hidden in the grasses, stones, on top of trees, and everywhere else.

As he progressed deeper into the territory of the Peasant evolution line, he encountered more Peasants carrying various monster corpses in a specific direction. Their levels ranged from the weakest level 1 to much higher level ones that Eon couldn't imagine fighting against just yet. He was quickly surrounded by red knights measuring 16 centimeters in length. He was a lone tree in the middle of a red, never-ending desert.
Each of the passing Peasants was not even paying Eon any unnecessary attention; they were all moving with such haste, synchronized and swift. They were working nonstop; after all, that was why they were created.
And after traveling a little further forward, he came to a halt and darted his gaze down where a scene was taking place beneath. A massive, waterless canyon lay beneath the edge of the soil where he stood. A canyon 50 meters tall and 60 meters wide, with walls made of red, hard rocks carved for many years by the Peasant evolution line. Thousands of Peasants were passing through the canyon. Many of them were banding together to transport the corpses of various monsters, ranging from small Slugs and birds to giant red frogs and Diviar wolves.
The thick crowd of vicious ants huddled inside the massive canyon was like a massive endless parade, but the display was their food. A 100-meter mountain-like anthill stood at the canyon's end. The entrance to their underground lair was fully guarded at the bottom of the anthill. An empire.
The only members of the Peasant evolution line that could be seen at the time were the Peasants, who were the lowest in their hierarchy and the species' working class. The stronger evolutionary lines were hidden or could not be seen joining the weaker Peasants. Their preferred prey were far more powerful than Peasants could ever hope to defeat.
One of the most dangerous species of monsters in Kegali's vast forest, not only because of their individual strength, which was already impressive on its own, but also because of their terrifying number, which no other species of monsters in the forest could even compete with.
With such an infamous territory, it was widely known even by the nearby human kingdoms, who were also strongly advised not to enter. The Peasant evolution line's lair, also known as The Death Canyon... located in the heart of the infamous Red Island, home to the most populous aggressive monster of the Kegali forest.
The only thing keeping them from engulfing the entire forest were the rivers that surrounded the island where the canyon was located. And the monsters who lived in the rivers and across the lands, their main job being to keep them from spreading. They would never stop attacking any army of Peasants attempting to wreak havoc on the other side of the forest.
The best they could do was keep them inside the island, but their numbers would soon become too great for the other monsters to handle.
Eon walked back slowly, his gaze fixed on the overwhelming scene beneath his feet. As he turned his head, he noticed Peasants moving their antennae or mandibles in every direction.
A Peasant army of 20 passed through him. His gaze was drawn to the 20 Peasants, and when he noticed them marching away from the canyon, which meant they were going hunting, Eon moved his legs and followed them.
Even though Eon had just joined the group, the Peasants who were members of the group had no reaction, just like the other Peasants who were not paying him any attention. They all simply let Eon join the hunting party. Because they saw Eon as one of them, peasants tended to work together, and each peasant had no identity of their own; they were all just disposable soldiers whose sole purpose was to hunt and feed the citizens of their evolution line.
Eon would no longer need to hunt on his own now that he had infiltrated the Peasant army. He finally had disposable allies at his disposal.
