In this world there are several gods that people worship, but recently the people believe that the gods abandoned them. Not a single oracle has been passed down since ancient times.
“The gods of this world don’t…hic… do anything for us.” Even though it was a bastard saying it I am afraid I have to agree. The gods of this world were pretty laissez faire.
Oh by the way my name is Eterna, and I am a cat beastkin, which is kind of rare here. I have had to deal with all sorts of troubles since I showed up in this kingdom. From racism to people trying to proposition me for funny business.
“This drunk bastard really doesn’t fear divine punishment.” Someone else exclaimed from inside the bar.
“Well, yeah…hic…my wife left me…hic…I don’t give a…hic…about the gods.”Isn’t that just his own problem, and not the gods?Apparently another guy thought the same thing.
“That is just your own fucking problem old man!”
“Oi, you got a problem with me, youngster?”
Hey, is anyone gonna stop these two idiots from fighting? I looked around to see if there would be anyone, but no one was moving. I’m a scholar not an adventurer. Please someone stop before they throw fists at each other. My prayer was answered apparently.
Before anyone could move there was a large roar outside of the bar, followed by the screeching of people. I quickly ran towards the window trying to get a view just like everyone else, but when I got to the window my entire body started to shiver. Outside was a beast that everyone from Amorig to Veline knows about.
Its body was full of dark red scales, and as it descended to one part of the city flames spurted out of its gaping maw. Even children know of the creature before us from the fairy tales, but what is that bastard doing here? Someone else yelled the same question.
“Why the hell is a dragon here!? This is too much for a D-rank adventurer like me! I am not supposed to die like this.” Immediately he ran outside bursting out of the back window, but as he did the dragon descended again. The next sight caused my legs to almost give out.
I watched in horror as the dragon bit down on his torso literally ripping him in half in front of my eyes. I was too scared to move as the dragon inhaled then exhaled a flame towards the bar.
In the center of a burning building I was still there unmoving. I just sat there weeping as the dragon torched its surroundings. I wept and wept even as the dragon flew off outside of the city. It took a while, but eventually I fell down weeping. The gods really don’t care. They don’t even care about a person like me. If I were a god I would tear down this reality. That was my last thought before I died as the fire consumed me.
