Some scholars say that the monster dungeons were left by the lost Arnean races. They were powerful  entities who ruled the planet before the legendary Eternion Champions liberated humans from slavery. Some say they were made by the Champions themselves as a legacy to train and empower the humans of Arnea—so they could fend for themselves in the absence of their ancient liberators. It seemed to Klay that his childhood friend might know more about the truth of these theories than the pompous scholars who gossiped and schemed in front of brothels after their weekly debates. He had sold them herbs once in a while and he had managed to gather some news from them in their brief interactions. The ancient ruins and passages found in seemingly random places around the world were a frequent topic amongst them.
