The next day, as we had agreed, my black rabbit and I were to go into town together to help me buy a new dress.

I arrived ten minutes before the scheduled time, and was waiting for the young man at the school gate.

Deciding not to worry too much about my appearance, I got ready as simply as possible. I left my hair loose, and chose a simple beige dress with a matching hat and sandals as my outfit.

However, when Blake saw me from afar, he smiled and said:

"You look very pretty today."

"Thanks. You look really good too."

Blake was dressed in a casual white shirt and slacks that fit him perfectly. The young man's black hair was pulled to one side, and the blue pattern on his shirt accentuated the color of his eyes.

As we drew level, Blake asked, "Where do you want to go?"

"I'm going to buy a dress, "I said, "there's a banquet coming up, and I want to find something suitable."

"Hmm... I think I can help you with that," he said thoughtfully, "there are several aristocratic boutiques in Atlas, and the most popular one is run by Madame Iris. I'll take you to her."

"Oh, okay," I said happily, "then can we go now?"

"Of course."

Having previously informed the guards of the purpose of our visit to the city, we were released with a warning to return no later than nine in the evening.

We descended the hill and passed through another gate, entering a crowded Atlas Street.

At first glance, it was a beautiful city of the advanced Middle Ages, which almost exactly repeated what I used to see in historical films.

There we one-story houses with red brick roofs, narrow streets, and people scurrying back and forth on their own business. When I saw all this, I really experienced an unprecedented delight as a child in the first few minutes.

Blake, watching my reaction, asked, "What's the matter? You've never been to Atlas before?"

I nodded my head.

"Well, then this will be your first time," the young man smiled, "I hope it will be a memorable one for you."

"With your help, it probably will," I chuckled.

After a short walk around the city square, Blake and I went to Madame Iris's clothing boutique, which aristocrats ordered from all over the country, according to the young man.

It didn't take long to get there, since it was also located in the center, and soon I saw a nice two-story building with a sign that read "Atelier Madame Iris."

We went inside, and a pleasant floral smell immediately hit me. The room was bright and cozy, with mannequins and ready-to-wear hangers everywhere, as well as pink couches and chairs for visitors.

Since it was still morning, there weren't many other customers, and we were immediately approached by a plump, cute woman dressed in a dress and apron. I could immediately tell that she was the owner of this place.

"Good afternoon, would you like to buy something? What is it?" she asked.

"Are you Madame Iris?" I asked.

"Yes, it's me. I have the best outfits in town! Tell me what you need, and I'll be sure to find something suitable for you."

"I need a dress for the occasion," I said, "something to wear to the banquet. But preferably not too fancy."

"Hmm... I have a lot of suitable options for you. Please follow me."

Madame Iris took me to the fitting room, then checked my parameters, and showed me at least a dozen different types of dresses, among which I involuntarily fell into a stupor.

Blake followed me obediently all this time, and sometimes gave me advice when I asked for his opinion.

"What do you think about this...?" I asked, pointing to the full lemon-colored dress.

"To be honest, I think all of this will work for you... I'm not very experienced at this, because I've never chosen a dress for a woman," he said guiltily.

"But, nevertheless, which one do you think will suit me best?"

"Mm-hmm... I think you have beautiful hair, and you need a dress that accentuates it," Blake pointed out.

"Really?"

My hair was a platinum-blonde color, and there weren't really many clothes that went perfectly with it.

So, in the end, I decided to rely on my own preferences.

While trying on a bunch of different dresses, my eyes finally fell on the last one, hanging most inconspicuously on a hanger.

It was a snow-white dress with lace ruffles and a collar, elegant and simple at the same time. After trying it on in the fitting room, I realized that it would be the best choice for this occasion.

Moreover, it went well with my hair, and highlighted the color of my eyes. So, after only a second of hesitation, I decided to buy it.

Madame Iris praised my choice and packed it several times so that I would carry it safely and the dress would not crumple on the way.

After saying goodbye to the woman, Blake and I went outside before it was even mid-afternoon.

Since we finished our business early, we decided to take an extra walk, taking into account the good weather.

Having fun and eating street sweets, Blake took me around the city for several hours, telling me its history and showing me interesting sights.

Eventually, we came to one of the longest streets, where there were tents and shops with various goods.

Walking past them, in the middle of the path, the young man suddenly stopped when he saw the fortune teller's tent not far away. A crowd of onlookers gathered around it, but few people went inside.

"Why don't we go in there?" he asked suddenly.

"There?" I was surprised, "Why?"

"I think it would be nice to know our future," Blake explained with a smile.

I snorted.

To be honest, I considered fortune-tellers and other harbingers of the future no more than charlatans. At least in my past world, that was the case.

"Do you really believe that...?" I asked skeptically.

"I don't know," the young man shrugged, "but I don't think we'll lose anything by just looking? Besides, I don't think we'll be here again anytime soon."

"Are you sure?"

"Hmm... I think it will be an interesting experience," Blake said simply.

I sighed, feeling a dreadful sensation in my chest as the black rabbit and I headed to this strange place.
