Recollection Part 1
When I was a slave, my house was a hut next to a stable. It was a really small room and it smelled like a disgusting beast.
There was no floor and instead just soil.
All that was in the room was my large sword and my crappy futon.
“Be able to swing this big sword, full swing, by tomorrow.”
That was the first order from my Master.
Is it possible to swing down a sword that is larger than my body?
I was dragging it until I brought it here. I had thought it to be unreasonable for me to wield this big sword. But I had to do it. I was a slave. Slaves only obey orders. Decided, I held the handle of the big sword.
Defeat the quest of the big sword and perhaps my life’d be that much easier.
“Gununu!”
It was no good.
The big sword had risen a few centimeters and fell.
It’s not the weight that a child can carry.
“Ahhh.”
I have to find a way to lift this
“GAH!”
“Wow!?”
Suddenly I heard a high-pitched voice from behind me. It sounds scared.
Looking back a black-haired girl stood, shorter than I.
“Um… who are you?”
“I… I am Henri!”
Henri…. Oh, I heard that my Master has a daughter named Henri. Is this her?
I realized that she was like my own owner and created a smile.
“Well, how do you do, young miss?”
I speak using honorifics, taught to me by slave traders.
“Oh? I’m just Henri?”
She didn’t know the word lady.
“Lady Henri, what do you seek?”
“I’m not Lady Henri! I’m just Henri!”
“I see..”
How old are you?
Is she about 5 years of age?
I was smart for my age.
That’s why I thought she was younger because she didn’t know such simple language.
“Henri, how old are you now?”
“8!”
“Eh? Same age!?”
Henri turned her head and looked like she was about to cry.
“Charles… not…”
Charles?
Who is that?
No, this bad. If the young lady cries here and the master rushes in, it will be blamed on me. I don’t know what kind of punishment is waiting…
I decided to comfort her.
“Lady Henri. Please don’t cry because I’ll help you look for Charles.”
“Charles isn’t there anymore. He’s dead \…”
“Is that so……”
“When I went for a walk with Charles, the car drove onto Charles! So he died! Higu!”
Charles is probably a pet such as a dog or a cat. Maybe this hut where I am was Charles house.
The inside of the hut has a faint smell of a cat.
“Higu! Wow…”
“What should I do?”
There is nothing I can do about the dead one.
But I don’t want her to cry here.
So I–
“Henri! I’m Charles.”
At this time, I abandoned my true name.
“Charles is me!”
“Eh?”
“Dead and reincarnated! I’m human!”
Close my eyes and dispel embarrassment.
I raise my eyelids lightly.
Henri’s face, which looks small, is laughing brightly like the sun.
“Charles! I was born once again!”
“Wow!”

Henri dives vigorously into my chest.
I quickly hug her.
“Thank you again! Charles!”
“Yes. Nice to meet you, Nya …”
I still remember how I felt when I hugged her.
It was fluffy, soft, and light enough to break if you hugged it strongly. And above all
-Her body was warm.
The memory of my encounter with her, I can still vividly remember it.
From that day, the days of Henri and I started, the happiest time in my life.
It was a long time ago.

“Get up!”
When I opened my eyes, I saw the book was still open.
“So is this the last book?”
“Yes, I managed to finish reading it.”
Vice-Principal Harman puts the pile of books into the magic frame..
“Get ready. I’m leaving.”
“… It’s pretty early. It’s still 5:30.”
“Yunferno Darts waits for no one
“I’ll bring the house to the school while you grab your blade and some clothes.”
I wear a long green coat over a simple shirt.
One hour after the preparation started, when I jumped out of the world of painting, it was a warehouse I had never seen. There are mops everywhere.
I haven’t been out of the picture since February 1st.
Vice-Principal Harman probably carried it quite a ways while I was in the world of painting.
I push the picture frame aside and leave the warehouse.
There are many groomed people here and there. The noise that reached my ears made me realize that there was a train nearby.
[TL Note: Do not think of Hogwarts, it will ruin the image.]
“Is this a train station?”
While my emotions swirl and swell, Vice Principal Harman points to a room.
“It’s a magic elevator. Get on it.”
“That’s.. It moves you from floor to floor.”
“I think the results of your studies are coming out right away.”
Vice-Principal Harman did not go in front of the elevator and hid herself behind a nearby pillar.
I also hide myself.
“What are we doing?”
“There’s a person in front of the elevator. They are no good.”
What’s wrong?
When they leave me and the Vice-Principal make a mad dash to the elevator.
“Well, what floor?”
I listen while being amazed. It’s my first elevator, so I’m a little excited.
“20th basement floor.”
“No such floor”
There is only the 1st floor, the 2nd and 3rd floors, and the 1st basement floor.
“If you enter your password, you can go to the 20th basement floor.”
Vice-Principal Harman pressed the buttons in the order of 2-1-2-1-2-B1-B1. Then the elevator shook and started to move straight down.
“We use a magician-only magical submarine train, a train that runs through the seabed. When you press the buttons in a fixed order, the elevator instantly shifts and guides you to the location of the submarine train.”
For a moment, I felt a floating feeling as if gravity had disappeared. My floating feet quickly touch the ground.
“When you get off the elevator, the train is in front of you, and if you take that train, it’s a straight line to the Academy. I’m heading to Academy by another route, so I’ll say goodbye here.”
“I see.”
The momentum of the elevator is weakening. The destination may be getting closer and closer.
Vice-Principal Harman holds a cigar between her fingers. I found in the last two months that when this person speaks without a cigar, it’s time to talk seriously. Her face screws up.
“I don’t think it’s something that I need to say, but don’t kill people.”
“I see.”
“I’m sorry. I was able to find out why Henri Sanson was put to death. She was a good person.”
I stare at Vice-Principal Harman.
Vice-Principal Harman laughs at my gaze.
“You are less resistant to murder than others, doomed to emotion, especially when it’s a criminal being put to death.”
“That is… I can’t deny it.”
I don’t want to kill people.
But that’s what most people take for granted.
Compared to the majority of ordinary people and me, when asked which one has resistance murder… I can’t say I am. The pure fact is that I’m used to murder.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Vice-Principal Harman tapped my back and went outside.
Looking back at the elevator, Vice-Principal Harman was waving with a smile without holding a cigar.
The pure smile was beautiful. For the first time, I felt that she was a normal beauty.
