Chang Ye gasped. He opened his eyes to greet an unfamiliar ceiling. Where was he? He wondered. Chang Ye coughed, his head hurt a little.

"Where am I?" He said out loud. Chang Ye jumped back at the sound of his own voice, which was not what he had expected. It was unfamiliar and scratchy, like the voice of a person who didn’t drink enough water. “Where am I?” He repeated to himself, then looked around.

Chang Ye found himself lying in a comfy bed in a foreign room. Was he kidnapped? No, that couldn't be it. The room was way too nice for that. The room was a decent size. It was way larger and way more comfortable than the cramped apartment room he called home. No, there was no way a kidnapper would take him, useless as he was, and there was no way a kidnapper would put a captive in such a good room. He stood up.

It was humid and hot. That was weird. It was winter, but it was so hot at the moment, as if someone had turned up the heater to maximum power. What a waste of electricity. Cheng Ye's body felt uncomfortable. He stumbled, feeling heavier than usual for some bizzare reason. Chang Ye inspected the room some more.

It was of classical Chinese style, he thought. A cool, elegant style. There was a thin layer of dust on the furniture, and there was a small vase in the corner. It was empty. Chang Ye shook it upside down to confirm it, then rummaged in the antique wooden drawer underneath the vase for any clues. The drawer was also empty. A small mirror was in a corner of the room. Chang Ye looked into it absentmindedly.

There was a fatty reflected back in the mirror. Chang Ye turned his head to look behind him, to see there was nobody there. Confused, he faced the mirror again, then let out a yell.

The fatty in the mirror was him? He was… a fatty? Chang Ye thought in disbelief. He barely earned enough money to buy a cup of ramen for every meal. Just when did he eat enough to become so fat? And his face was completely different! His eyes were small and squinty, and his nose was large like a potato. He was so... ugly. Chang Ye felt light-headed, as if he was about to faint.

The doors burst open.

“Young Master?” Chang Ye turned right towards the direction of the sound. A young girl in traditional Chinese attire rushed into the room. She looked at Chang Ye, then doubled back in surprise. Chang Ye watched as she collapsed onto the floor, his mind filled with disarray. What was happening? Young Master? He wasn’t a young master!

The girl started to cry. Chang Ye had no idea what was going on, but he ran forward to reassure the delicate girl. He hesitated before hugging her. She had a sweet scent. Chang Ye suddenly felt a little embarressed and quickly let go. The unknown girl hiccuped.

“I… have to go tell the Master.” Chang Ye helped the girl stand up upright. After one last sob, the girl rushed out of the doors of his room as if she had been possessed. Chang Ye watched her leave. His eyes widened as he studied the world outside his room.

He must be in another world.

The sun was beating down on the ground. Outside his room was a very small empty courtyard. There were no plants and no animals, only sand and stones. The door to the courtyard was wide open; the girl must have opened it. Chang Ye stepped forward.

The sun was hot. The courtyard was hotter than inside his room. The sun's rays were directly beating down on him. Sweat beaded on his forehead, but Chang Ye kept moving forward. He was in an ancient Chinese setting. His courtyard, Chang Ye discovered, could be considered small. The courtyard next to it was larger, with several cherry blossom trees. There were paved roads and stone stairs. The rest of the courtyard was neatly filled with well-maintained grass.

The buildings around said courtyard were also large. They formed a square shape. Chang Ye realized he must be looking through a side door of the courtyard. There was a seperate main gate. People who appeared to be servants hurried back and forth with pails of water. One such servant was sweeping the paved stone floors.

Beep.

Chang Ye jumped up.

“System starting.” A feminine voice said mechanically.

“System greets Host, Chang Ye. Congratulations, host, welcome to the new world.”

“System? New world?” Chang Ye repeated.

“Yes, dear Host.” The voice was cold and stiff. “You have been transmigrated in a new world, with a new identity. Do you wish to check your current status?”

Chang Ye nodded.

Chang Ye's eyes widened. A rare spiritual root and a trashy body. That was disappointing. He had hoped for a much better transmigration. It was like a game system, so Chang Ye assumed it was possible to level up, or, judging from the system description, rank up.

What a horrible transmigration. At least he had a system. Though he was transmigrated as an ordinary fatty, maybe he could change that with the help of the System. Chang Ye studied his other stats. He didn't know how much strength was the average, so he couldn't tell for sure. But his strength was the highest stat in his status. Chang Ye felt offended by his low Charisma score. And why was his luck so bad!

His Qi stat was 0. It must be because he didn't start cultivation yet. Chang Ye started to feel excited.

Before he could get carried away with his cultivation fantasies, however, the silver-voiced System interrupted him. Her voice would actually be cute, he thought, if it wasn't so emotionless.

"Issuing Tasks." The System said blandly.

"Your first task: Have a 10 minute conversation with Chang Ye's mother. (However, do not let her find out your true identity.)"

"Reward: ???, Penalty: Death."
