Day-Time.
a day later, Ethan woke up near the balcony of Castle Mona which overlooked the city below. with his helmet on his head and his sword next to his hip, he got up and looked back where he last stood. the statue was repaired.
just as he thought his days were about to get better they got worse. Ethan sensed an army was coming as he looked back at the fields that he and his demon army crossed. there in the distance, he saw over a hundred thousand men marching towards the city, one that rivaled his demon army. the annoying Empire of Fia, another pest he failed to exterminate.
judging by the flags they carried they weren't the only ones who led this massive army. Ethan was surprised that the Yi Arma was still strong and willing to fight, the soldiers were easy to recognize. to think that the army he just fought returned for another bloodbath, it's either their heads are extremely dense or some other thing Ethan didn't know about.
well if it isn't Regalia, Fia's finest... Ethan thought to himself as he watched the woman in golden armor approached the city's now repaired walls. in the game, she looked exactly like his cousin, if not just older and more cautious.
the woman wore too many fancy designs, a medal here and there, rare feathers on the shoulders for no reason, and especially that massive crest on her armor which provided next to no protection apart from intimidation.
Ethan then noticed that Regalia was looking at him, so he replied by giving a death stare, one that immediately made the woman think twice before looking at him as she turned away. and as the army neared the gates of the city, Ethan ordered his demons to surround the army, but to think they increased by twice the amount in a single day.
the soldiers of the army panicked as the demons surrounded them, horses neighed and panicked in fear while the soldiers on foot shook in their heavy armor. unsurprisingly though the Knights of Fia did not, one must wonder what kind of training they have to not fear getting torn to shreds by demons, or whatever worse fate that awaited them.
Regalia dismounted from her horse as she proudly walked towards the massive gates of the city.
Lady-Regalia: open the gates! I wish to speak with King Ethan of Estera!
the gates remained closed, Ethan leaped from the balcony before landing right in front of Regalia, creating a shockwave that shook the ground as he landed. Ethan looked at the woman who stood in front of him, he saw fear.
Regalia took two steps closer before introducing herself, but she didn't know that Ethan already knew her.
Lady-Regalia: your highness, King Ethan... I am Regalia of House Rein, I hope you may pardon my improper behavior but matters of great importance are to be discussed in Tower's Peak, the queen herself wished to see you.
Regalia said as she placed he hand on her chest in a swift motion.
Lady-Regalia: we are to depart immediately, please understand why I have brought a larger escort... it was quite difficult to pass the demons' territory without proper preparation, our numbers dwindled due to the recent attacks... we hope you understand our majesty's sincerity, she wished she could meet you on more calmer circumstances...
yeah right... like I'd believe that but who is this queen anyway? I've only heard about her through the updates. Ethan thought to himself but ultimately decided to go with Regalia to satiate his curiosity, and so he nodded.
Lady-Regalia: *sigh* thank you for your understanding, your highness...
Ethan ordered his demons to disperse while Ignis landed behind him. Ethan created a ring to satiate the hunger of the demons for centuries and beyond, the Ring of Gluttony. he handed the ring to Ignis before walking towards the carriage at the center of the army, and so their travels began, passed the mountains and towards the port next to the open sea.
hours turned to days, days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to a month. Ethan then boarded a ship and set sail towards a nearby continent, it took yet another month until he arrived. throughout his journey, he was given plenty of food and wine, yet he did not accept any of them, for he did not need to eat nor drink. all this, in just seconds until he woke.
we're here already? wow this trick sure is neat. Ethan thought to himself as he walked out of the ship's cabin, there on the horizon a city that nearly rivaled Estera's fortress city stood like a lump on the continent, Ethan waited for hours until the ships reached the mainland, the ship he was on docked on a personal harbor next to the castle.
Lady-Regalia: welcome to Tower's Peak, the jewel of the kingdom.
Regalia said behind Ethan, but he paid no mind as he quickly left the ship and walked towards unknown territory. unlike the cities of Estera, this place was vibrant with color, the streets filled with art and their artists, businesses blooming on every corner, there was not a single crime in sight. and no corruption, a rare kingdom indeed.
Regela along with other knights escorted Ethan directly to the queen, passing hundreds of hallways all guarded by royal guards in golden armor before finally reaching a magnificent garden filled with various vegetation, mostly flowers. and at the center of the garden was two chairs and a round table, and on one of those chairs was the queen herself.
Lady-Regalia: my queen, I have brought King Ethan as requested.
Ethan looked at the woman seated on her chair, it was none other than his aunt. Queen Helena, Tigress of the East. Ethan knew he was in for it now, he remembered this was the new update that the devs announced just a month before he was transported into this world, by what he could recall, this woman is a sharp blade, and a venomous snake.
dark brown skin, long black hair and purple eyes. unlike the trailer, she wore a simple dress, all white.
Queen-Helena: you are dismissed Regalia, let me speak with my nephew.
Regalia bowed as she left the two along with the other knights. Ethan was now alone with this dangerous woman, even with his cheats he knew in terms of health he was an insect, but he had to act tough. he had cheats, and he planned to use them.
Queen-Helena: please, take a seat, Ethan.
Helena gestured towards the chair on the other side of the table as she waited for her nephew to take a seat.
Queen-Helena: oh please, it's just a chair.
Helena taunted Ethan, but he reluctantly agreed to sit on the empty chair.
Helena crossed her legs and looked at both of the marks on Ethan's armor, surprised to see two of the most powerful marks in the world on her nephew. she sighed as she leaned forward and rested her head on her left hand while tapping the other on the table, all the while Ethan was thinking of a way to beat this powerful boss.
Queen-Helena: what's with the silence? has your marks taken hold of your soul?
Helena said with a smirk while Ethan remained silent.
Queen-Helena: look I know how hard it is to run a kingdom when your enemies are everywhere, *sigh* but the problem is your kingdom slowly fracturing from the inside, hmm, what to do... what to do...
Helena leaped into the air like lightning before landing a dozen feet behind Ethan with her legendary sword, Kingslayer, but it had only tasted the blood of dragons, not kings, so the name might be a mistake.
Kingslayer, even I can feel it from behind me... but it stands no chance against the Dull Sword. Ethan thought to himself as he stood up and walked to the side before looking at Helena.
Queen-Helena: up for a little spar nephew?
wow, she sure is smug, and bold... that wasn't in her description. Ethan thought to himself as he took out his sword from its sheath and took a stance made for offensive purposes. with both hands on the grip and the sword facing the enemy, the body slightly leaned forward. Ethan stood there like a statue, his body bearly even giving a hint of any motion.
Queen-Helena: oh? prepared already? then let's start.
Helena dashed as she swung her sword wildly but with each strike, Ethan blocked and parried every attack without budging an inch from where he stood. showing no signs of weakness or exhaustion.
Helena made her blows faster and stronger to the point that every time their blades would clash a shockwave would blow on the nearby furniture and vegetation. but even that didn't make Ethan budge. after nearly an hour of fighting Ethan sensed a moment of weakness as he quickly parried an attack before driving the blade of his sword deep into Helena's chest.
Queen-Helena: *cough* *cough* *cough* heh, impressive...
Helena tried to inhale air but blood flooded her lungs and throat. Ethan then pulled his sword from Helena and sheathed it as his aunt healed herself with magic, though she lost a lot of blood already.
Queen-Helena: hmm... very impressive Ethan, you didn't hesitate unlike before, *cough* you sure have changed...
as if nothing had happened Helena returned back to her normal and relaxed posture as she wiped the blood from her mouth and neck, but her dress was drenched in it, at least the front and back of it were.
Lady-Regalia: my queen!
Helena and Ethan looked at Regalia as she rushed towards them with a dozen royal guards and her knights.
Queen-Helena: please Lady Regalia, I'm fine, it was a little spare is all...
Helena paused for a moment as she looked at Ethan before continuing.
Queen-Helena: plus, if he had truly intended to kill me this city would no longer exist.
Helena said with a smile before turning back towards Regalia.
Queen-Helena: kindly find me a new dress Regalia, I doubt my personal knight would find Ethan with his sword covered with my blood amusing... and tell the maids to clean this mess, I need to bathe...
Helena slowly walked towards the entrance as she told Ethan where to meet her.
Queen-Helena: oh, and meet at the diner hall Ethan, I'll have Sir Roland escort you later.
the royal guards left and returned to their posts while Regalia looked for maidens along with her knights, leaving Ethan alone as he walked towards the pool of his aunt's blood and stared at it for a while.
???: if you would excuse me your highness.
Ethan quickly turned to look at the woman who spoke only to find a maid slightly shorter than him.
holy... a DLC character is here too? Ethan thought to himself as he looked at the maid. blond hair, green eyes and white skin, and the signature emerald necklace on her neck. it was Ella, a maid from a powerful background, her blood is directly connected to an angel's, and from a dominion at that, one of the far stronger types of angels.
Ethan stared at the very soul of Ella, her heartbeat increasing slowly the longer he stared. but then walked away so as to not actually antagonize the dormant powers inside her. especially if god was going to be involved.
King-Ethan: *sigh* that was scary...
Ethan murmured to himself as he slowly passed hallway after hallway, navigating through the enormous castle, passing garden after garden after garden, room after room, until he reached a wide and open area that looked more like an arena.
You are reading story Fallen Legend at novel35.com
there he saw dozens of trainees sparring with each other in full armor but without helmets, however, among them there was one man who stood out like a diamond in the rough, the face looked familiar but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Sir-Roland: enjoying the view your highness?
Ethan turned around to see the knight in silver armor himself, Sir Royland of Tower's Peak. one of nobility and honor, the second problem when it came to fighting with Helena. Roland, as Ethan had remembered from the trailer he wasn't one for violence and had more sense than the other crazy people around him, and the one made to be a hero.
the knight took off his helmet to reveal his face, he looked exactly like the one in the trailer, with a few scars on his face, brown skin, black hair, black eyes, and a black short beard. especially that mildly irritating smile.
Sir-Roland: ah, I nearly forgot... her majesty wishes to see you diner hall correct? please follow me.
Ethan followed Roland towards the diner hall, passing multiple hallways once again, some more familiar than the other.
Sir-Roland: I've heard tales of your conquest from the bards your highness, and I must say I am impressed... the way you slew the legendary frost dragon, an unimaginable feat, I have no doubt her highness could compare.
Roland said with a smirk.
Sir-Roland: she is your aunt correct? I had my suspicions when I heard it from the maids but to think the queen herself confirmed it... the fact you're here is proof of that, some nobles might sway to your side... the continent of Vira truly is a world of fantasy, and to think one of its legends now stands in Fia's capital, it truly is an honor to have met you.
wow... I'm famous on another continent? that wasn't in the story before, I'm barely even famous in my own continent. Ethan thought to himself as they arrived at a wide and spacious hall.
at the very center was a long, long table, longer than a hundred feet. and at the very end was Helena, once Ethan was in her view she gestured to the empty seat on her left, in which Ethan once again reluctantly sat on while Roland sat across him. Helena then started as she took a small sip from a wine bottle.
Queen-Helena: I've noticed nephew, why don't you take off that helmet of yours? it must be very hot in all that armor... you've been silent the entire time you arrived here, afraid I might spill your little secret?
oh she's annoying... I'm only here because I want to know where the hell this story is going, I haven't even played this far and don't know what the hell is going on, maybe Atea has the answer, I heard their pope could summon a being from another world... I'll have to lay siege on the Holy City later... Ethan thought to himself as he remained silent.
Queen-Helena: fine, I'll get straight to the point... I want you to bring me Duke Alton of Everwind, he is a renegade duke who disobeyed my orders during the assault on Highpoint, however, he is in your territory... therefore I humbly ask you of this...
Helena paused for a moment before continuing with a smile.
Queen-Helena: if you do as I requested... I will join you in your second conquest to unify your kingdom, and I will personally see to it that your subjects stay loyal to you, a fair deal is it not?
Helena took out a contract with her royal crest already stamped on it before placing the piece of paper on the table near her nephew... Ethan was quite tempted but hesitated nonetheless, then he remembered he had to leave this world and return home if he could, if he could. and so he used a spell to sign the contract, in a flashy way.
purple and blue fires engulfed the bottom edge of the contract before forming into a completely different version of Ethan's royal crest. instead of an eagle behind a shield surrounded by grain and flags, Ethan instead formed it into a dragon's maw, and inside that maw was a flaming orb surrounded by swords to make it look like rays of light from an eclipse.
after the fire dispersed, the deal was signed.
Sir-Roland: well... that was quite the show.
Roland took a sip from his mug while Helena smiled and took the contract before folding it.
Queen-Helena: you really are an interesting nephew Ethan... you'll begin at tomorrow dawn, Sir Roland will accompany you in your journey, along with Commander Hex and his men, I do hope you find their company rather... interesting.
Ethan took the contract and placed it beneath his armor while Helena continued.
Queen-Helena: for now please enjoy yourselves, after all... tomorrow will be quite a busy day...
Sir-Roland: why not go hunting? I do wish to see the legend himself in action.
Helena's eyes widened in surprise for a moment as she smirked.
eh, why not? I could use some experience... and I certainly don't want you to get any stronger. Ethan thought to himself as Helena nodded before turning towards him with an expectant look on her face.
Queen-Helena: that could work... but what say you... your highness?
Ethan nodded before they all stood up.
Sir-Roland: then I shall take the lead, there are a few bandits just outside the city in the Hollow Woods, we should be able to find them as long as we stick to narrow roads.
Queen-Helena: then get to it, I always wanted to hunt with a distant relative.
the three then walked out of the dining hall and towards the exit, after half an hour of navigating through hallways, they soon left the castle and towards the nearby stables before riding their horses, except for Ethan who had none.
Sir-Roland: ah, you make take a horse of your choosing from a stable I'm sure the caretaker won't mind.
King-Ethan: Summon Demon Hound.
a red magic circle appeared in front of Ethan as a red, furless wolf with horns slowly rose from the ground. when the summoning was finished the demon stood as tall as the horses Roland and Helena rode on, shocking the nearby horses.
Demon-Hound: *growl* *hiss*
Queen-Helena: not bad for a ride, perhaps my dragon may compete.
Ethan then sat on the back of his new ride as they soon headed for the gates of the city.
Queen-Helena: may the best be triumphant.
after yet another hour of riding, Ethan, Roland and Helena finally found themselves a group of bandits, though these bandits were sort of busy trying to fend off something else.
Ethan was quick on his feet as he leaped from his Demon Hound and decapitated the first four bandits his blade could reach before quickly hacking away at the ones that still remained standing.
Sir-Roland: impressive! I heard he was as fast as the wind! who knew that the bards spoke true of his tale.
Queen-Helena: that's what surprised me Sir Roland, who knew his abilities were this powerful.
Ethan looked in front of him to see a wyvern twice his size while Helena, Roland, and the Demon Hound quickly approached him. but with a single swing, he sliced the wyvern in half further impressing his two companions.
the three that approached Ethan stopped just a few feet away as Helena commented on the severed corpse of the wyvern while the blood was being drained by the Demon Hound next to her.
Queen-Helena: at this point he will surely surpass even King Atlas...
Roland laughed and responded to Helena's comment.
Sir-Roland: really? even King Atlas? the last time you met he was but a child and he still bested you in combat.
wait what!? King Atlas!? is he some sort of DLC character I didn't know about!? oh hell no!!! I'm not going to meet that guy until I get myself an army! and a very big one! Ethan thought to himself as he slightly shivered. luckily though none of the two noticed, who knew what rumors would spread if King Ethan shivered in fear at hearing the very name King Atlas?
Ethan quickly got back on his Demon Hound as he continued on the road, followed by Roland and Helena who were close behind. this time they were deep inside the Hollow Woods.
the three rode fast with the sun slowly setting in front of them, there was no bandit in sight for miles, and not a single one was waiting for them. the day turned to night as the sky quickly darkened, their horses were exhausted, except for Ethan's which was not a horse and never felt tired, the small group was forced to rest near the trees as they dismounted.
Ethan lit a fire on a lump of wood he found while Roland gathered more branches to burn and Helena gathered fruits from the nearby trees. once they were all gathered near the fire the horses rested and ate the grass around them.
the three sat on the grass they found comfortable as Helena handed out the fruits she gathered, but Ethan, who didn't feel hunger or needed to eat refused the offer as he remained sitting there silently.
Ethan then rested his back on the tree behind him before closing his eyes, but just as he was about to do so trouble brewed in the distance. witches, sorcerers and necromancers all watched from a dozen miles away. aware of the beast that gruarded the second knight in darker armor, and with devilish smirks they waited.
