The next few days after that, preparations for the festival commenced. Both students and Professors were excited for what was to come, while one student dreaded the idea of it.

Fortunately for her, Aurora switched to working backstage. All she had to do was pass out drinks and snacks to the audience.

The Professor in charge of the play said Aurora was a lost cause, and there was no hope for progress.

As for setting up a stall by inviting a vendor, she planned on pushing it to Beatrice and Anya...but it did not go well. These were their ideas for what vendor to invite:

Beatrice ----> "Bartender."

Anya -----> "....????"

Aurora. *facepalm*

If she refused to participate, Aurora faced having her laboratory privileges taken away. It was the same with the Maze Challenge held every day. She did complete her summoning array, but she was currently waiting for essential materials for her research to arrive.

Thankfully, her two saviors appeared.

“T-then, can I help?” Griselda suddenly voiced out her idea. "Princess Estelle has a friend who recently opened a shop that sells ready-made clothes."

"You mean for commoners?"

Princess Estelle shook her head no. “The materials used for the clothes are just as high quality as those used to make custom clothes for aristocrats. The pricing is not as expensive, and commoners can also afford it. I am sure the other Nobles will like it as well...but..." The Princess glanced at Aurora nervously. "Is it okay for Tristian to join us?"

'Tristian? Who?'

Aurora blinked her eyes as she tried to remember. If it is someone close enough to the Princess for her to call him without title then...one of her guards?

From what she knows, one died and the other...

[ "How dare a lowly person like you address our Crown Princess in such a way?!!” ]

Ah. Right. The one who insulted her the moment they met. Tristan Sinclair.

Honestly, Aurora wanted didn't want that man to approach her at all. The Knight did not say a single word to her since their first meeting. However, he would glare at her once in a while from a distance.

In the first place...

Aurora looked at Griselda and then glanced at the Princess. ‘What is this Princess up to? First, she warned me about Lillian, and now she’s helping me despite purposely provoking her before?’

“Sure.”

‘Well, it’s not a bad deal for me.’

It was after this time she received two crucial pieces of information.

The first was a decorated card with the following words written on top. 'Maze Challenge'

And inside the card it said this:

And the second piece of news also came in the form of a letter.

Aurora unknowingly smiled as she saw the crest stamped on the envelope.

“Duke of Rizar, Lucius Rizar.”

[ I have received your report. Congratulations on completing
your research. Leave the rest to me and enjoy the festival.
I will send a carriage to pick you up on the last day. ]

Aurora experienced a sudden sharp and aching pain in her chest.

Honestly, she did not know what to expect. Was she disappointed that the letter was so short? Or that he would not come for her himself? She thought maybe he was still angry at what she said to him that night.

Either way, Aurora thought she would be able to clear her head by keeping herself busy during this time apart, but all it did was strengthen her emotions for him and continue to overwhelm her.

With these thoughts in her heart, the festival quickly passed. Besides helping with modeling a few outfits, Aurora mostly stayed inside her lab.

As the Princess said, the clothes made from high-quality fabric had interesting designs. Unlike other high-ending clothing shops, the shop had pants outfits for female customers to wear to formal events.

And then...the night before the last day of the festival approached.

While sleeping, a gold ring surrounded Aurora. It was similar to the gold spirit ring that appeared during the Duke’s summoning ritual.

“Mhmm.” She made groaning sounds as she took short, labored breaths.

In her dream, Aurora found herself at that place again. That place was devoid of light, sound, or any other senses, and even her form was shrouded in darkness. It felt as though she was being devoured.

It was the same dream she had almost every night since finding herself in this timeline. And every time, it ended with her seeing a faint light, unable to get near it no matter how hard she tried.

But this time was different.

In that darkness, she saw something. She saw herself running. She wasn’t running away from something this time but running towards someone. And she yelled at the top of her lungs with all her might.

When the her in that vision saw a body covered in blood lying lifelessly on the ground, she fell to her knees and clutched her chest. Aurora saw the five deep gashes on his chest, and when she noticed that he wasn’t breathing, she sobbed.

‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry.’ She kept repeating. ‘I’m sorry.’

While lost in her grief, the light that was usually unreachable moved closer to her. That light enveloped her. It was a golden, warm light.

As Aurora kept dreaming, the gold ring lost shape as the light gathered into one place and hovered above her. Two small white hands popped out from the light and touched her head.

Without knowing if it was a dream or reality, Aurora felt a gentle kiss on her forehead as an indistinguishable voice whispered in her ears.

“Wake up and protect him. Protect the one tied to your fate before it’s too late again.”
