Poison or not.

Lucius refused to let anyone touch or hurt her without his permission.

Jarvik clicked his tongue. He was just like his Father, stubborn as a mule. Although his Father, the previous Duke tried his best to hide it from his family, he was the same as his son. “Then, at least take this with you.” He said as he tossed a young boy to the Duke.

“HAH?!” The boy, Vale, yelled out. “Wait…Grandfather??!”

Lucius caught the boy with his uninjured arm. Vale hung like a broken doll from the Duke’s arm. When Lucius was about to refuse, the Doctor interrupted him.

“What if she ends up injured or sick? He’ll come in handy.”

Lucius nodded his head. He turned towards his Knights.

“Halon, bring my horse. Siathrich, come with me. The rest stay here and protect the City.”

Raya opened his mouth intending to ask to come with them, but the Duke shook his head. “No argument.”

The Knights all kneeled and answered simultaneously. “Yes, Your Grace.”

Sia and the Duke left the mansion. Halon was waiting for them with two horses. The moment the Doctor’s grandson was settled on Sia’s horse and Halon left, he went down on one knee.

With his face serious, it gave him a different impression from his earlier playfulness. “I have something to report. Forgive me for not telling you this earlier.”

Lucius Rizar looked at his Knight with knitted eyebrows. He knew Siathrich well. When he shows this expression, it was important. “Talk.”

“I was able to find out the name of another person involved in this, but as his status is too high, I need your permission to question him.”

“…Who?”

“It’s…” Sia paused.

“Hurry up.”

“It’s General Lasage.”

Lucius clenched his teeth. “Are you sure?”

Siathrich nodded his head. “The Captain of the West Gate said his name once. When I asked him what he meant, he kept saying it was a mistake and he didn’t mean it. I couldn’t get anything more out of him.”

Balian Lasage. He was a commoner who used his strength and intelligence to become a Knight. He worked for Lucius’ father for years and was eventually promoted to General.

There was only a total of five Generals in the Empire, each one stationed at a Dukedom, and the last at the Imperial City.

General Lasage was recommended for promotion from a Captain by Lucius' father. But there were rumors about how he was the cause for Alphonse’s death due to escaping on his own and not sending reinforcements. Because of this he was at risk for losing his current rank. However, since it was only a rumor and there was no evidence, the investigation came to a stop.

"We'll deal with him later." Lucius never believed Balian would do such a thing. He clearly saw how much Balian struggled to reach his current status. His dad and him both respected the General in the past. However, now that his name has come up in this situation, he didn't have a choice but to pursue it.

“There’s one other thing.” Siathrich interrupted the Duke’s thoughts and called out.

“What is it?”

“It’s about the arrow that pierced through your shield. There was a rune on the arrowhead.”

The Duke’s eyebrows scrunched. “A Regalia.”

“Yes. And it’s a powerful one.”

A Regalia was the only thing capable to break past his shield. It was a weapon inscribed with a special type of rune. But it was nearly impossible for a Shadow Knight from the Epheria Empire to get his hands on one.

After all, only the Imperial Family and a few nobles of the Tamriel Empire used this type of weapon.

And there's no way they'd easily give it away.

Aurora was lying on the ground, her face ashen and covered in sweat as she muttered to herself in a daze. "W-why? Why...Father?" She kept repeating in hysteria. Suddenly, she gave a shrill cry, sat up, and opened her eyes all at the same time.

She had a nightmare of the day her own Father had her killed. Right before the spirit beast burned her alive, she jolted awake.

After recovering her senses, Aurora finally realized that they were inside a dim cave. She didn't remember around when he fell asleep, only that assailant kept running in the forest with her in his arm. She was exhausted from being held in a horrible position and seemed to have lost consciousness at some point in their journey.

Aurora stood up and looked around her surroundings.

“You’re finally awake.”

The voice of a man said in front of her.

One was sitting up and watching Aurora closely. He stared at her with lustful eyes, as though he was licking her from head to toe.

It made her quiver in disgust. While she was used to seeing such a perverse look, they were usually restrained. This was because those people knew they couldn’t touch her so easily. But this man was ready to pounce on her.

“Who are you?”

One stood up and walked closer towards her. She was able to see his appearance better. Short brown hair and eyes, with what women would call a pretty boy. But compared to the men she knew in her past life and Lucius Rizar, he was low class material.

He smiled but didn’t answer her question. “You’ve been asleep for almost two days now, how do you feel?”

“T-two days?” If that was the case, a frightening thought rose in Aurora’s head, causing her to break out into a cold sweat.

Were they already out of the Rizar Dukedom?

“Yes, we’re in the Etern mountains."

Aurora sighed in relief.

Mount Etern...short for 'eternal' due to the eternal snow that covers it all year long, it is located on the border of the Rizar Dukedom. After passing the snow-covered mountains is when you'd enter the Blaise Dukedom. That goes to say, Mount Nix was still the Rizar Dukedom territory, so she still had a chance.

Seeing this, he chuckled. He knew what she was worried about. This girl was intelligent. She didn’t seem to be only 15 years old. If it was any other young lady, they wouldn’t be calmly analyzing their situation right now.

"If you're trying to kill Duke Rizar by using me, you're making a mistake."

"What my Lord has planned for you, is my Lord's own business." One forcibly tugged her hand and dragged her into his arms.

Aurora's face smashed against his chest so hard that she flinched in pain. This man was overbearing and terrifying. While Lucius was overbearing at times, he never forced her against her will. This person was on the same level of those men who tried to force their way onto to her.

"Let. Me. Go!" Aurora snarled.

But the man only smiled coldly. He threw her back to the ground. “I didn’t kidnap you to threaten the Duke. Rather...you’re the one I want!”

Aurora narrowed her eyes at the man as she thought about something. “How did I sleep for two days without noticing?”

“Of course, because I didn’t want you wake up.”

He fed her sleeping medicine!

In those two days, who knows what he did to her? Aurora put her guard up. She didn’t want to get any closer to this man. As she thought about this, she backed up without realizing it.

One smiled at her reaction. As though he was a cat chasing a mouse, he stepped forward, ready to hunt. “Don’t worry, I didn’t touch you. After all, I’m an honorable man.”

Aurora snorted. "Right."

One’s smile disappeared. It changed into one of pure desire. “But it doesn’t mean I won’t touch you now that you’re awake.”
