When the man didn’t move again, Aurora took a deep breath.
She thought about masking her presence using her mana, but she didn't know this man well.
She wasn't the only one who was sensitive to mana. There are bound to be others like her. Even though humans should no longer be able to even use mana, things were different now. She couldn't take the chance.
Aurora took another few steps and even purposely made a slight sound with her footsteps. But when he still didn't stir, she found hope.
This man looked down on her. He thought of her as a week little girl and didn't even bother keeping his senses open while sleeping.
Finding her chance, she moved over to the side where his coat was lying and started searching. It took her a few minutes to find it in his inside pocket. A vial with black liquid.
She popped the vial open and took out one of the knives she still had with her. Aurora poured some of the poison over the knife, careful not to spill any.
Now, she can only pray he doesn't check his vial when waking up.
After putting everything back in order, Aurora went back to the same place she woke up from and closed her eyes.

The pain that radiated through One made him want to die.
The fleshrender poison was a special poison made from a plant that was only found in the Blaise Dukedom. The poison turned one’s blood and skin completely black, gnawing away at them.
There wasn’t a single person that could resist the pain that followed until their dying breath. It was said that there are no known antidotes for it. While Shadow Knights are forced to build resistance to all kinds of poisons, the fleshrender was impossible to fight against.
One only had a little time left before he was unable to move at all.
In a blink of an eye, he felt something crawl up his throat. Black blood came pouring out of his ears and then he fell face forward on the ground. The poison had already long seeped through his blood and bones.
Aurora coldly stared at the Shadow Knight who was on probably on his last breath. His image overlapped with that man. The person she first killed.
Harrison Ascarot.
The person she both despised and was grateful for. Because without him showing her how cruel humans can be, she would have never survived those 15 years. Still...
Her expression filled with hatred and disgust as she recalled how this man pressed himself against her. And how he licked her all over with those perverted eyes of his.
“Trash will always be trash.” She said with a low tone.
Just as Aurora stood back on her feet, preparing to leave the cave, she heard a sound behind her. Before she could turn around to see what it was, she heard the man she thought she killed yell at her in fury.
“You f**king wh**e! I’ll kill you!!!”
Everything played out in slow motion.
One, who was bleeding from his eyes and ears, ran towards her with his outstretched hands.
Her foresight warned her of his approach, but all she could in the given time was dodge his attack. Just as she planned on reaching for the closest knife she threw earlier, a figure appeared out of thin air from the shadows.
It was a man with one eye green and the other a creepy red.
Before One reacted, the man latched him by his throat, and the sound of bones cracking resounded.
With a smile on his face, the man crushed One’s neck within seconds.
He raised his right arm and casually tossed One’s corpse aside.
Aurora warily stared at the man in front of her. Although he was handsome like Lucius, he was anything but innocent. Aurora felt a slow creepy chill run down her spine as she watched the man in front of her kill someone with a smile on his face. It was as though he did it as a matter of fact.
Lucius was someone who tried to close off his heart. But in truth, he cared more about others than himself. This man, however, gave off a demonic, bloodthirsty aura.
To him, killing a human, was the same as killing an ant.
And what scared her the most was how she didn’t see him even with her foresight.
Aurora tried her best not to let her fear show on her face. With a straight posture, she lifted her head. “Who are you?”
Kian lifted his mouth into a grin.
She was trying to act tough while trembling. As he thought, this woman was different from the other noble ladies he met so far. Even back home, there wasn’t anyone who’d confront him. “A concerned passerby who wanted to save a maiden in distress.”

“…How did you know I was here?”
The man walked closer, mysterious and dark, his fiendish eyes staring straight at Aurora. Frightened, she wanted to back away but found that she couldn’t budge a step.
Her feet were glued to the spot, refusing to move despite her pleas.
“My pet told me.” He said with a laugh.
Pet?
Aurora heard a hissing sound a saw a large snake slithering towards One’s corpse. With her eyes widened, she watched as the snake opened its mouth wide and prepared to eat its snack.
She shivered involuntarily.
It was the same as that time when she entered that place filled with nothing but darkness and death, the Corrupted Region, and came face to face with a beast eating another beast. But this time, it was a beast eating a human.
All of a sudden, an arm wrapped around her waist. Her back pressed against a strong chest, and a hand covered her eyes.
“Don’t look.” A familiar voice whispered. His breath was close enough to her ears that she could feel it tickle her skin.
“Your...Grace?” Aurora's called out, her voice shaking.
Was she seeing things because she was about to meet her death?
"Sorry, I'm late." Lucius Rizar stood behind Aurora and glared at the man in front of her.
It was a deep, thick voice that made others go numb.
And that cold, broad chest that leaned against her back.
He came.
He really came.
He came to find her.
The Duke was very angry, so he had a forbidding expression on his face. She didn't have to see it to know that. The aura he exuded was so terrifying that he was like a living demon. And he was acting like that for her sake.
At that moment, Aurora forgot all about the danger she went through. She had the inexplicable urge to jump for joy. Or rather, she would have if her knees weren't on the verge of giving out. If Lucius wasn't holding on to her, she would have already fallen.
Kian Blaise looked back and forth at the girl and Lucius. He chuckled as he watched the protectiveness the Duke had for this girl.
He wasn’t anything like the rumors said.
Cold, cruel, and indifferent.
Kian clearly saw the flames raging in the Duke’s eyes.
His pet looked up at him, saying he was finished. One’s corpse had been perfectly cleaned up by it.
“I guess that’s my signal to leave.” He chuckled. “We’ll meet again soon.”
Before Lucius could stop him, the man and snake disappeared. Leaving just a pile of bones behind.
Lucius and Aurora stood there in silence. With her still pressed against him, and his hand covering her eyes.
A minute passed.
Lucius didn’t move. He kept his sight fixated on the spot the man disappeared from.
Aurora wondered what was wrong. She heard that mysterious man leave, but why was the Duke unresponsive. “Your Grace?” Aurora moved her hand over his that covered her eyes.
His hand was freezing. Much more than before.
“Are you alr-“ Before she finished asking him, Lucius let go without warning and she heard a bang behind her.
She turned around only to find that he had fallen on his side.
"Lucius!!!"
