Chapter 101: Heading back

"So now that her issue is mostly taken care of let me get her set up in winterhold temporarily before we continue this conversation." alastair said to lorean who nodded before vanishing. "winterhold/ do you mean that place set up by shalidor near the sea of ghost?" eve asked confused. alastair nodded "the very same , i rebuilt it when i arrived in this world so i have a fair amount of good will from the people there." he explained calmly. "and they would be fine with you bringing in a vampire?" she asked worried.

"They won't know since i'll cover your vampiric features with a bit of transfiguration magic." alastair said casually. "transfiguration?" eve questioned confused. alastair waved his hand over himself and eve watched on in awe as alastair morphed into a tabby khajiit tail included. "this one thinks he makes a good argument in favor no?" alastair said sounding like a perfectly normal khajiit. "that is both amazing and concerning." eve stated honestly. alastair chuckled as his featured morphed back into his normal ones. "be glad that no one else in your world has figured out how to do that then." he said calmly.

Walking over to eve alastair held out a his right hand "take my hand so i can begin." he said calmly. eve reached out hesitantly but trusted alastair enough not to harm her as she gripped his hand harder than she thought. alastair noticed this deathgrip on his hand but didn't mention it as he channeled his magic into eves skin giving her a healthy tan before changing her bloodshot red eyes into normal looking brown ones. "you should pass for human easily so long as you don't start biting people out of nowhere." he said before freeing his hand by turning it ethereal briefly.

Eves hand shut with a snap of air startling her "i'm sorry i don't know how i am so strong." she apologized when she realized how hard she must have been squeezing alastairs hand. "it's fine if i had to guess its because you have been alive without a drop of blood for nearly a thousand years." he said calmly. eve looked enlightened "i remember count ravenwatch mentioning something about vampires grow stronger over time as they age , so this is what he meant." eve said enlightened. "you are out of practice with your new strength so you used more force than you realized , thankfully i'm quite durable so its fine."

Alastair and eve then searched the entire abandoned fort before checking the surround cavern of blackreach for any hidden treasures. besides some aetherium veins that alastair greedily stashed away they only found an enchanted library that had kept the books inside intact thrilling alastair. eve said that besides a few semi rare books the rest only had common knowledge , well common for the second era anyways. alastair greedily stored them away ignoring the dearly missed message from the system. *SKILL BOOK FOUND ABSORB Y/N?*

These notifications popped up quite a bit when packed away the library but alastair knew that it would be a good idea to have the books copied before he absorbed them. thankfully he knew of a certain orc in the arcaenium who would be more than happy to make him a copy in exchange for the books of lost knowledge. once they were certain that they had looted all the surface level items alastair sent a pulse of magic out in order to memorize the entire fort so he could copy it later since he liked its look.

One quick teleport later and eve breathed in the fresh air of skyrim for the first time in nearly a thousand years. thanks to alastair waiting until the sun had dipped below the horizon eve had no problem being outside. the rest of the group met up with alastair at the meeting spot but looked at him in concern when he introduced eve. he quickly reassured them that she wasn't evil despite being a vampire by explaining the way clan ravenwatch operated. after that the rest of the group got along with eve just fine as they left solitude to head back to winterhold.

Eve was massively startled when alastair transformed into his dragon form as he was downright intimidating to look at. the rest of the group save erisa who took on her own dragon form rode on alastairs back but eve had to be convinced that it was perfectly safe before she tentatively climbed up. her fears melted away and were replaced with awe as she saw the land from high up in the air and this lasted until they landed on the outskirts of winterhold an hour later since for a quick dragon like alastair that distance was childs play.
