Chapter 48: Adamantium and level up

The party sailed along the coastline since lanalulu was quite easy to miss otherwise. along the way alastair had spent most of his time training *cough* beating *cough* the rest of the party minus erisa into shape since the potion they took makes it possible for rapid growth. jade made sure to punish him at night for his rough treatment of her during training but that was more a playful thing than her actually being upset at him. the party visited a few of the small islands that dotted the coastline many of which were not listed on the map.

Alastair found a few interesting and rare ingredients including a type of wild oregano that was far more potent then the normal stuff. on one island though the group found a hunk of metal that simply defied any sort of normal collection meth due to its ridiculous hardness. alastair actually had to use metalbane to get a chunk the size of his fist and surprisingly the cursed blade actually had trouble cutting through the material. when he put the stuff away alastair looked at entry for it in his systems inventory and received quite the shock.

The metal was listed under the miscellaneous tab as a famous metal from marvel comics known as adamantium. yes that adamantium which is to say the metal thought to be nearly indestructible once cool. needless to say alastair was thrilled to discover this stuff as he felt compelled to turn it into an armor but stopped himself. he realized that if he did exactly that he would practically be announcing to the world that he found something amazing. once word spread about this material people would stop ignoring it when they found it and the market would soon be flooded with the stop making its properties practically useless.

Alastair noticed that metalbane had changed drastically after consuming the adamantium it had cut through. the straight rectangular blade grew a curved point and the spine of the blade grew several spines that looked similar to metal teeth. each spine was a different color which alastair had realized was because each had one of the effects that the weapon had stolen from other equipment. the rest of the blade changed color from dark silver to a sort of shiny black that drew the eyes. irritatingly alastair found out that he could no longer send his magic through the blade.

According to the twins this was probably because the adamantium rejected magic as the trade off for its stupid durability. alastair was happy to learn that the sword was no longer cursed since the rest of the party no longer felt anything from the blade even after using it. besides the discovery of the adamantium the party sailed along the coast for a few weeks going from island to island. fortunately there wasn't anything over the top to be found on these islands like adamantium just more mundane things like certain spices and even rare monsters.

From the sea bound monsters that alastair killed on a daily basis he had managed to level up to twelve. the thirteen skill points went straight into magic bringing it to thirty four while the perks he had access to added the usual ones with some slight changes. interesting enough though he had a perk that didn't exist in fallout three. the perk was called shock body and its effect was to be honest crazy sounding. the perk stated that his body would create small amounts of electricity as well as store electricity without limit that he could discharge at will.

Obviously alastair took this perk since while it wasn't very useful right now he could easily see it being near broken after a period of time. even better if he could somehow manage to get struck by lightning multiple times. after leaving the system menu he started to glow slightly as his knowledge of magic as well as his mana pool grew much wider as well as the cells of his body changing to accommodate the perk ability. the party asked about his new change and after he explained it to them they looked at him in amazement.

The thing that had them fearful though was his description of his new electrical ability since they also noticed how extreme the power might get at later times. to put it bluntly after a certain amount of energy was stored alastair could wide out entire nations by drowning them in electricity. alastair spent a week after that trying to find storms to power up his new ability but he only managed to get a single storm that he drew all of the lightning from using magic. after that storm alastair killed a few sea bound monsters like a certain sith.

The party saw a fleet of ships as they approached lanalulu and after sailing closer the sailors had warned them of a tentacular that had been causing problems in the area. alastair grinned at this and jumped off the ship before creating an air bubble around his mouth and nose so he could breath underwater. after that the sailors waited anxiously for him to return for an hour before they saw a huge flash of light deep under the surface. alastair popped his head out of the water carrying a huge tentacle that was obviously a monster drop behind him five minutes after that.
