"Rather arrogant for a " meridia paused "what are you?" she asked after a moment of silence. "ah , see now that's much better as for your question i am dragovian." he said calmly. "odd , i am unaware of such a race and yet here you stand with the confidence to interrupt and scold me." she said sounding more curious than angry. "well lets be honest here so long as i don't enter oblivion itself you lack the ability to truly harm me against my will." alastair said honestly. "what makes you so certain?" she asked curiously.

"The divine compact plus the barrier of akatosh means that no direct intervention on nirn is allowed and as prideful as you may be i doubt you are willing to take the punishment for breaking either of those." he answered honestly. meridia remained silent for a moment "you are correct dragovian , however you would be wise to mind who you speak to before speaking." meridia said calmly as the flames on the nearby torches burn white and bathe the area in light. "now that we have gone through this little exchange how about we get on to the business of your temple?" alastair asked.

"I must admit you make it hard not to be interested in you dragovian" meridia said honestly. "i am happily married thank you" alastair teased. meridia laughed "it is refreshing to speak with one unafraid of my power." she said. "yes as you said i am in need of a emissary on nirn to clear the foul necromancer malkoran from my temple on mount kylkreath. will you take on this task in exchange for my favor?" she asked seriously. "pretty sure i already have that but i don't mind helping out one of the few daedra who aren't complete assholes." alastair said with a grin.

Alastairs group left the now empty bandit cave after that with the beacon safely stored in a bag. alastair knew better than to make a daedric prince wait so he flew to mount kylkreath quickly. meridia might have a positive impression of him at the moment but he didn't want to put that to the test if he could help it. when the group arrived at the run down temple alastair separated from them for a moment to go visit the nearby word wall. besides a vague understanding he gained of the word su which meant air.

Interestingly alastair gained a perk from learning the word called thu'um initiate that gave him a ten percent increase in thu'um potency. from the name alastair could tell that this perk could be upgraded by learning more words. the scene that happened in the game didn't happen when alastair replaced the beacon in its place. instead meridia ignored her grandstanding and flat out told alastair to hurry up and kill malkoran and that he was free to keep anything he finds while doing so. with the doors of the temple open alastair left the group outside and entered.

The temple is slightly different than how it was in the game with blood and rotted skin on the ground from where the bodies had been dragged. the black mist in lingering in the air excited the devil fruit powers alastair had making him feel even stronger. this was an unexpected but welcome development since it may help him with awakening the fruit sooner than usual. as alastair walked through the temple the black mist was attracted to his body creating a sort of airflow which enriched the stagnant air with a sort of freshness.

The corrupted shades alastair found cowered in front of him before he pulled the corrupted death energy from them freeing the tortured souls. deep in the temple the necromancer malkoran was panicking as he felt through his connection to the shades that a being with a much higher ranking in the death domain was slowly devouring and unraveling his work. malkoran didn't know what this being was since there had never been any mention of such a thing. knowing that using the shades to protect him was pointless malkoran began to create a haphazard ritual to absorb the remaining shades in hopes of matching alastairs authority.

Alastair himself didn't know any of this but had noticed how he had been finding less and less shades the deeper into the temple he went. this was odd since in the game the exact opposite had occurred meaning something about this situation was off. alastair figured it wouldn't be a problem either way and so decided to ignore it while looting the area. it didn't take him long to reach the doors to the final sanctum at which point he was several hundred septims and items richer from his loot run.
