"Well then who could you be?" A woman asked.

"I am Viaan Reeds, why?" The boy answered

The woman slicked back her violet bangs licking her lips and looking at the young boy. He was a handsome child, with short blonde hair, and bright green emerald eyes dressed in clothing foreign to her.

Flicking his muddied collar, she drew her left leg forward placing her hands on her hips looking the kid over. He was puzzled at the lustful expression on her face, turning away when he was halted by two other men.

"Leaving so soon Viaan?" She questioned.

"I am obviously lost…if you can't help me let me go please."

Daggers and knives were shoved in his face, reversing when he accidentally bumped into the lady who gingerly placed her palm on his back. He became nervous, thrusting his foot up at her in an attempt to land a kick only for her to catch it.

"Come with me, I will make you stronger." She smiled.

"I don't even know who you are!" Viaan argued.

"My name is Linetta, and now we are friends."

The two men pushed Viaan into a small deep royal purple tent lined with ringlets of gold for curtains, inside lined with large and small soft pillows of varying sizes. He waited several hours before he heard the beads part.

"Sorry about the long wait." Linetta grinned.

"I need to go home, I have no time for this!" Viaan shouted.

Bringing in one knee in first to crawl inside having Viaan move over to accommodate her. Hugging his legs to his chest, his gaze is turned to the corner trying to avoid having to look at her at any given cost.

"Do you know where you are, Viaan?" She inquired.

"In Maine?" Viaan noted.

"What is Maine? How did you get from Maine to Lawadale?"

"To where?!"

Viaan was confused, he came through the woods to find a ball his cousin tossed in. He was being forced to spend the weekend at a rented cabin with family and extended members as he just turned fifteen.

"Viaan, are you okay?"

"Please, let me leave!" Viaan panicked.

"Stay the night and you may leave in the morning…"

Sprawling out on all fours, she lays down jabbing his knees down to gently rest her eyes on his legs. He could feel himself reddening, the back of his mind told him something was wrong.

"I will leave now!" Viaan demanded.

He shoved her off, he knew he was still young and still had growing to do. An adult whom he never had ever met would never have such good intentions for him, he thought.

Viaan jumped out of what he saw as a fancy tepee about to sprint off when he realized she stood tall over him looking down at him, her slender fingers clutched his shoulder tightly.

"It's really hard to be nice for this long." She growled.

Her happy facade dropped, plummeting to the ground she dragged Viaan down as she seized him by the waist. Pronged fangs bit clumsily into his collar bone scraping his neck to find the softness of his skin, he cried out.

He was paralyzed as she drained his bodily fluids, he leaned forward in her arms as his hands dropped to his sides. Linetta screeched in laughter holding the unconscious Viaan in her arms, tossing him to the ground.

"Send him with the other boys!" She howled.

The two men retrieve Viaan from the muck of the forest ground hurling him into a wheelbarrow they had fetched, not fully out of it he identifies blurs of green, brown, and white in his field of vision blurring along the way.

He could hear the squeak of the uneven wheel tumble up and down making the ride bumpy, he can slightly make out a dingy splintering door whittling away from weather alone in the sudden darkness. One of the men strolled up to it banging it hard as he could.

An older boy comes out with hollow sad eyes. He was tall running his fingers through his messy brown hair, he wore a yellowed white shirt and brown pants.

"Declan, you know the process." He scolded.

"What is his name?" Declan asked.

"I think Linetta said Viaan, which is really unusual."

Declan said nothing more, lifting the boy from the wheelbarrow and bringing him inside where there were four others younger than Declan and Viaan.

"We brought another?" The youngest questioned.

"Hagan, don't be mean, make the bed please," Declan asked.

Hagan did as he was told, adding a new sheet, pillow, and simple quilt. The others watch as Viaan is placed on top of the new spread, Declan sets Viaan's hands on his chest.

"He is going to be in pain for days…" Another kid noted.

"Gio, don't do that again." Declan frowned.

"What did I say?" Gio argued.

"Just be mindful Gio, Asher fetch me hot water please," Declan instructed.

Declan watched as Viaan's eyes were half-open, he quickly acknowledged the strange clothing Viaan wore questioning where he came from before Linetta found him.

"Declan, I don't think we have enough vials to feed him…" The last boy commented.

"I know Tevin…I will ask for an increase tomorrow."

"Has he got fangs yet?" Gio questioned.

"The process will be finished later, right now we are looking at fever symptoms and cold."

"Why are his eyes half-open?" Gio pondered.

Hagan touched Viaan's hand as it began to tremble violently, Asher trudged in with a boiled pail of water in hand bringing it over to Declan. Taking the cleaner of the wash towels they had he would push it in the steaming water wringing it without trouble.

"He is in pain already meaning tomorrow I will be here while you do chores…" Declan affirmed.

"Awww!" The four boys said in unison.

"Don't be that way, you all went through something similar." Declan smiled.

Declan knew he had a long day ahead of him, he was certain the boy came from another country or unfamiliar territory that he could not explain.

"Fine, we're going to sleep," Gio whined.

There was not much else for them to do while Declan is taking care of a newbie who will become like them and live in this run-down shack. Taking a small stool Declan sat by Viaan all night.

Viaan sat up bending down holding his face, Declan was shocked he wasn't stuck in that position all night.

"Are you okay?" Declan asked.

"My whole face hurts…" Viaan said, muffled.

"It will be for a few days." He whispered.

Shuffling could be heard behind them, the secondary door slid open from the back. Viaan wanted to leave as soon as Linetta showed her face to them both.

"He is sitting up?!" Linetta softly spoke.

"No thanks to you!" Viaan groaned.

"Oh, he has a fight in him…" Linetta grinned.

Excusing himself from the broken bed given to rest in he jumped down, you could hear the jumble of springs popping before settling back. He felt like he was in an old movie where they lived in huts.

His muscles were weakened from the bite, and his knees buckled under him. Declan caught him before he could stumble on his face, Linetta watched with pure fascination.

"You need to lay back down, you are no longer in a position to leave." Declan scolded.

"Watch me!" Viaan shouted.

Jerking away from Declan, Linetta gets in front of Viaan blocking his way. Using just her pointer finger she nudged him, he lost balance falling on his butt.

"You look weak and pathetic right now boy." She growled.

Pressing his hand against the bite she gave him, he became even more puzzled why his body began to tense up and ache.

"Please lay back down," Declan begged.

Sighing, he gave up doing what he was told. Linetta examined the spot carefully, the raised bump could be felt as she passed her fingers over it.

"You are healing much faster than I anticipated."

Getting on top of him she loosened his collar to lick his warm skin at the base of his neck, she gripped his wrists securely pinning him to the spot once again sinking her fangs into his neck this time.

Pulling away she ripped into her own arm spilling blood all over Viaan, he is horrified as she dunks back down pressing her lips onto his feeding her blood to him. He gasped out in pain between each heartbeat thumping harder and harder.

The blood flowing through his veins worked overtime, and his gums become sore. Sliding off of Viaan, he sat back up pressing his face into his patella grunting.

"You are much harsher with Viaan than with the others." Declan scolded.

"Shhh...let the rupture happen."

Quivering Viaan squeezed his eyes shut as newly risen fangs burst through his gums, blood drained down his cheek. His eyes glowed sea-green upon opening, Declan was shocked.

"Oh, you are a pretty one, Viaan…" She lusted.

"Don't say shit to me bitch!" Viaan argued.

He could feel his eyes roll up to the back of his head nearly passing out, Declan made him lay down. His breath became ragged, Declan handed him the towel from earlier with lukewarm water placing it against the bleeding.

"You will be such a pretty adult, I will wait for that day." She answered.

Thirst could be heard in her words as her fingers drew to her mouth, her cheeks reddened with Viaan alone. Declan disliked Linetta, but they had no choice since she ruled over them and the girls in the house opposite of them.
