Qi Yue sluggishly entered the classroom and greeted as per usual, “Morning Brother Yuan.”

Passing by Gu Jing Yuan’s desk, he came to a sudden stop, took a few steps back, and rubbed his eyes.

Did he mistaken? Brother Yuan was studying?

Was he still dreaming? The kind whereby his consciousness had already woken up and done everything, but his physical body was actually still snoozing on the bed.

He could not resist but pinch himself a couple of times. Sss, pain.

The scene in front of him remained the same. What the hell! Brother Yuan was really studying!

His heart dropped, was his Brother Yuan possessed?

Qi Yue cautiously asked, “Brother Yuan, did you go to any strange places over the weekend? Or encounter any weird things?”

She sat in her seat and leaned over to see how Gu Jing Yuan was doing, but in the end, he had yet to attempt a single question.

Being watched so closely by her, Gu Jing Yuan’s scalp went numb and he decided to smash the pot to pieces since it was already cracked1. He tossed his pen aside, “Don’t know.”

“En, this question is a bit difficult. Let me explain the theory behind it. Ge-ge would definitely grasp onto the idea quickly.”

He stared blankly at her, “…”

Tao Yi Xi took out a piece of scratch paper and pen and started writing while explaining step by step to him in great detail. She did not miss out on even the smallest of points. Her voice was soft and dewy. Initially, he wanted to lose his temper but her patient tone dispelled it.

Taking another look at what she wrote, it did not look as difficult as before.

Several times, Qi Yue, who was sitting behind, thought that Brother Yuan would leave in a fit of anger. But every time, Gu Jing Yuan’s ruffled feathers would be soothed by Tao Yi Xi and he would continue sitting there obediently.

Alas, everything has its weaknesses2.

They were seated in a remote location in the classroom. Hence, other students did not notice, but their form teacher would always keep one eye on this precarious individual in his class.

When he spotted Gu Jing Yuan holding a pen, he shared the same reaction as Qi Yue. He unconsciously suspected that he was dreaming!

Yet, when he saw that his second-in-level was tutoring Gu Jing Yuan. He was nearly moved to tears.

Tao Yi Xi really was his lucky star!

Not only did she win glory for their class, but she also subdued this little devil, Gu Jing Yuan. Why did such a good cousin only decide to join them now?

In addition, every time he saw the distressed look of Class Eight’s old Zhang, he felt highly invigorated.

If he had the opportunity, he wanted to feedback to their parents. He must give her the well-deserved praise. He sincerely prayed that student, Tao Yi Xi, would smoothly bring Gu Jing Yuan onto the right path!

Although Tao Yi Xi was not privy to his thoughts, it could be considered that she had succeeded in carrying out this mission.

In the evening, after school, she invited herself to sit in the back passenger seat and retrieved another textbook.

For the other subjects, he could still reluctantly bear with them. But when it came to English, he accepted his incompetence.

Gu Jing Yuan adamantly pushed the book away, “Not reciting.”

Tao Yi Xi fluidly took it and said, “Then let me read it to you.”

“…” Gu Jing Yuan shut his eyes in despair.

On their way home, she repeatedly recited a few words. And so, even after he returned to his room, her voice still rang in his ears.

He was about to go crazy.

He did not have a moment of free time since this morning. In addition, as long as he entertained any thoughts of giving up on his studies, her mouth, smeared in honey, would praise any and everything, making it extremely difficult for him to lose his temper.

He tried to ignore her, but no matter how cold he acted, she still continued tutoring him as if nothing was wrong.

This day was extraordinarily long.

But it seemed that it was not over yet…

A knock came from the door and he stepped towards it wearing his slippers.

Tao Yi Xi was at the entrance, carrying a book and a stack of papers, she smiled up at him, “Let me test you on today’s lessons. Let’s see how much you learnt.”

Without even a second thought, Gu Jing Yuan was about to close the door in her face. But she rested her hand on the door frame, so if he forced his way, he would have crushed her hand.

He could do nothing else but let go of the handle.

“Thank you.”

She entered his room naturally and found that the table was too messy to put down the books.

“Do you mind if I tidy it up for you?”

“Whatever.”

He lounged on the sofa but his eyes unconsciously followed her.

She had already changed out of her school uniform into a comfortable skirt for home wear. The skirt swayed as she walked, and when she bent over, he could faintly see her waistline which was so slender that it could be grasped with one hand.

Although she was thin, she had defined curves. Her exposed calf lines were soft, and her delicate skin glowed white under the light, making people fantasize about it.

“Ge-ge, everything’s ready. Please come and attempt the papers.”

That one sentence broke all his fantasies.

Gu Jing Yuan reluctantly dragged his tired body to sit beside her. Due to their close range, he managed to get a whiff of the faint fragrance coming off her body. There was the scent of shower gel and some other indescribable fragrance.

His breath was a little short and he shuffled to the side, but she took the initiative to approach him.

“Ge-ge, it’s useless to try and escape. Just concentrate and finish this, then you can rest after. Come on.”

“Got it.”

He picked up the pen and slowly started while trying to stay further away from her.

Faced with his abnormal emotions, he unconsciously wanted to avoid them. Not wanting to dive into something that was beyond his control.

And thus, the two of them spent several hours doing their own work. By the time he glanced at his phone, it was already twelve o’clock. She released a small yawn that was spotted by him.

With that, he put his pen down, “let’s stop, I’m going to bed.”

She still had a few questions left to go through, but seeing that he already voiced out, she decided that it was better not to spoil his progress by being too aggressive, so she closed the book.

“Alright. You did well today. Let’s continue working hard tomorrow. Good night.”

“En.”

After she left, Gu Jing Yuan tossed and turned but could not sleep.

When he reached the kitchen downstairs, he found that the lights were on signaling that there was someone inside.

Who could it be so late at night? The servants should have gone to bed at this point. The person exiting the kitchen was just as surprised to see him.

“Oh hey, weren’t you feeling sleepy just now?”

“I came down for some water.”

The scent of coffee wafted into his nose from the mug in her hands.

He frowned, “You still drink coffee this late at night?”

Moreover, from the look of it, the caffeine level should be quite high.

“En, I have to study for a while more.”

“But your grades are already good enough.”

“It’s not good enough for me.”

She had a strong sense of self-awareness. She was smart, but she was only better than the average person. If she wanted to be even better, she knew she needed to put in the extra effort.

Gu Jing Yuan stared at her in astonishment. It was obvious that he, an underachiever, did not quite understand her pursuit of her goal.

Tao Yi Xi chose not to needlessly explain too much, “Ge-ge should go to bed soon. Don’t be late tomorrow.”

She bade him farewell with a ‘good night’.

Seeing how natural she went about doing so, he could tell that using coffee to help her burn the midnight oil for studying was something normal to her.

After finishing the glass of water, it took him a while before he regained his senses. A constant thought kept swirling in his mind, ‘If she keeps this up, would her body be able to bear it?’
