Raph’s attack was so quick and fast. The people did not expect that suddenly Alvred launched an attack toward Enjar. Without any warning whatsoever, Alvred viciously brandished his sword to attack an unprepared man.

“Sorry my hand slipped-” He wanted to mock Enjar by lying obviously like this. He had a maniac smile on his face too, as he could not wait to see Enjar’s face when he received this attack. He did not think too much about the reactions of the people here, because he could just muster up some reasons why he was attacking him.

But just as the attack was about to land on Enjar, suddenly the target vanished. It was as if the target had eyes behind his back, as he knew that an attack was about to land but he was still able to avoid it.

“Now this is interesting, I was just baiting the two of you with some early baits. One person took it might be a coincidence or something, but you took it too. Wow, all of you took it like a hungry pig. Truly interesting.” Enjar muttered in a relaxed tone as he jumped away from his position before the attack could even graze him. He seemed like he was just talking to himself, because the people did not even know what Enjar meant by that.

When Alvred’s attack missed, Alvred realized that he had done something awful. Firstly, he was not able to kill Enjar. Let alone killing him, he was not able to injure him in the slightest way possible. Secondly, now the villagers would have a new justification to be united to stand up against him and his people under him.

And the reality was not far off from it. Either the people under Raph or Lumberis, all of them were shocked that Alvred dared to do something like that. Enjar had surrendered himself, but he was attacked without even giving him a chance to fight back. How could Alvred do something like this? All of their trust was like water being thrown off the drain.

If even someone as strong as Enjar was treated like this, then what about them? What about them who were just some villagers that were often being oppressed by these kinds of people?

Fortunately, Enjar was able to save himself from the attack. Or else, he would have died while the villagers would not have a pillar for them to lean on to fight against Alvred and his men.

Did not it mean that Enjar was the only way for them to fight against Alvred and his men? If that’s the case, then shouldn't they be united at all?!

They saw how Alvred viciously smiled after Alvred launched that attack. As if he did not even think of them, the villagers, in his mind at all if he was able to kill Enjar. And even the mocking words, he said that his hand slipped? I think your brain was the one that slipped! That’s what the villagers wanted to curse out loud

Still, they did not dare to say it out loud because fear was still inside of their hearts. Even if they joined Enjar again to fight against Alvred and his men, the fight was still not over yet. What if after they had joined Enjar, they still lost against Alvred? If that was the case, then the ones who cursed out loud might be punished because they dared to disrespect them after the fight was over, and not only them who might get the implications, even their family might not be left out.

So they could only swallow it, even though their minds were now resisting the idea of submitting to this group of people in front of them. They looked at Enjar once again and their respect and apprehension toward him was getting stronger. And the ones who were under Raph felt ashamed when they had decided to go against his wishes.

He had been fighting by himself, for the people in Wheatfield Village, for a long time, and they still had the gals to think for the opposite, wasn’t that just beyond shameful?

“People of Wheatfield Village!” Enjar shouted out loud after he had distanced himself from Alvred. He looked at Lumberis and his men with vigor, a spirit that was like before in which his confidence and charisma were overflowing like a river.

“You have become a witness of how treacherous these people are! I have given myself up with my arms down without any fight whatsoever, and this is how they treated me!” Enjar shouted as he spread his arms wide. He looked frustrated and angry, from the injustice that had befallen toward him.

“Then what about you? What about the experiences that all of you have been experiencing? And what about the things that you will experience in the future under their rule? Can you imagine it!?” His face was forming a frown, his hands that were spread wide were forming fists after he clenched them hard.

“And what about the people that have been enjoying a good life when some or probably even most of you were suffering? Don’t you think that there is something wrong with that?” Enjar asked with a smile, a smile that had a hint of mocking as he glanced at the direction of Raph.

The villagers followed Enjar’s sight, which ended at Raph who had an ugly expression drawn on his face. He truly benefited from how decisive and supportive his perception toward the arrival of Alvred and his men. His actions benefited him greatly and made him one of if not the wealthiest person and the one who had the best status compared to the other villagers.

With this kind of position that he had, he naturally was respected by many people. They too wanted to be like him, and put him as the role model on how to be a successful person. But somehow, this kind of status put him in a bad situation at this moment of time.

The villagers started to think about how Raph’s life had come to be. He had a better situation than most of the people here. He, at the very least, was not suffering directly from how Alvred put exorbitant taxes. They thought that Raph was in a good position because he was good at adapting to the situation and smart at any situation, but it seemed that there was more to what it seemed.

They started to compare it to Lumberis, an old man that still stuck on his conviction and did not follow Alvred and his men’s orders like a loyal person because his conscience was contradicting with how Alvred treated their people. He deep down in his heart knew that Alvred and his goons were just a bunch of gangsters that wanted to extprt them for money. But because they had power, he truly could not do anything about it. In truth, he too was afraid of confronting this matter to them.

The least he could do was to not involve himself in their scheme or plot and whatnot. Unlike Raph who had the idea that one needed to adapt to their situations and do the best that they could do to achieve a better success for oneself, Lumberis did not want to put himself into some position like that. He did not want to have a better position when he knew just how much extortion that they put to the villagers, which made them suffer subtly or openly. He felt like he was eating bad food if he was in that kind of position.

They thought that Lumberis was not a progressive person, a person that could not adapt to the advancement and stuck to his own world. But now they have started to think twice about that kind of notion. They realized that they could not judge someone just because he looked poor and in worse condition.

This might be the reason why he was regarded as the head village in an informal way by the people before the arrival of Alvred and his men. His wisdom and kindness was the thing that made him to be put as the head village, willingly or not. And when their thinking realized until this point, they had complex and mixed feelings inside of their heart.

All of these thoughts were racing through their minds even though only a few moments had passed. Enjar nodded to himself as he glanced back at the enemy that still needed to be defeated now. “Now, let’s fight once more to show our worth.”
