“I guess you’re right now that you mention it. The timing does seem too good to be true…”
“The only reason Izumi-san was able to come across the situation in the first place was because my location information was shared, wasn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“Incidentally, Natsukawa-san was trying to keep it a secret that she was going to give Sunagawa-kun a gift. So it was unlikely that he knew where we were going beforehand.”
“I see. Continue, Watson-kun.”
Izumi put her hand on her chin and urged him to proceed.
(Ah, so I’m the assistant. I thought I was Sherlock.)
“I had no plans to set foot in a love hotel with Natsukawa-san. Naturally, Sunagawa-kun had no way of knowing. That is a situation that only God would know. Nevertheless, Sunagawa-kun ran into us just as we were leaving the room. If it really was a coincidence, don’t you think the odds are astronomical?”
“I agree. It’s a miracle that anyone would bump into each other without knowing the time and place.”
“That’s right. So, there are a couple of things I can think of.”
Izumi gulps and swallows.
A strange tension ran between the two.
“I think Sunagawa-kun may have been tracking me and Natsukawa-san, or he may have had the same location information as Izumi-san.”
Izumi ruminate over Komori’s statement in her mind and then said,
“No, of course not!”
Izumi waved her hands in denial, as if deciding that it was impossible.
“There are too many holes in that theory, Shota-san.”
“Then please tell me what you mean by those holes, Izumi-san.”
“Eh, you’re suddenly talking down to me?”
“No, of course not.”
This time Komori waves his hand in denial.
Izumi ate some whipped cream from the super-sized parfait and then,
“If Kengo-san had been following Shota-san, or if he had known the location of Natsukawa-san’s phone, he would have intervened before you two entered the love hotel. In what world on earth would there be a boyfriend who would sit idly by while his precious girlfriend is about to be bedded? You’re not ready for this, Watson-kun. Buy me another parfait today as a lesson.”
Izumi’s straightforward point made Komori lift his glasses in a gesture.
“You’re suddenly like a prince!? I mean, you didn’t really need to lift up your glasses, did you?”
“What do you think, Izumi-san? Are you annoyed?”
“Don’t tell me you’re not retaliating like usual!?”
“Ah, yes, that’s right.”
“Affirmed!”
“I’m the type of person who will fight back.”
“A side I didn’t know you had!”
“Do you think you know me just by getting to know me a little? That’s outrageous.”
“Suddenly, you’re the sarcastic character! And a really irritating one at that!”
“And well, that’s it for the ‘Mori and Izumi’ gag comedy–or Morizumi for short.”
“Morizumi!?”
“Don’t interrupt me, Izumi-san.”
“Ah, I’m sorry. I understand now. I might be annoying when Shota-san jokes around with me.”
“That’s okay.”
“It’s okay!? It’s okay to be in the opposite position, even though I think it’s annoying!? Isn’t that a little too big of you?”
Komori clears his throat.
“Yes, I think Izumi-san’s point is valid. It’s just that…”
Apparently, any further reasoning was difficult to talk about. Obviously, Komori’s mouth stuttered.
“Please tell me what you think, Shota-san. I understand that you’re not the kind of person who would hurt me for no reason.”
“If possible, I’d like you to listen to this as just nonsense…”
“It depends on the subject matter, but I will try to do my best.”
“This is only a maybe… Only a maybe, okay?”
“Yes. I’m ready.”
Seeing Izumi’s determined eyes, Komori was full of confidence and presented a completely off the mark theory.
“If we assume that Sunagawa-kun is excited by cuckoldry and has different sexual tendencies than others, it makes a lot of sense, but what do you think, Izumi-san?”
“Huh?”
It was truly something Tenshi Izumi did not expect.
