Chapter 120 Confidence

The students from special training couldn’t comprehend Xiang Ning’s actions, yet they couldn’t argue, either. Upon winning first place, Xiang Ning’s team had won a year’s worth of cultivation resources for the academy, which was twice the amount of resources they had this year. Not even the children of rich families would reject such a prize.

And now, the team was willing to give away such a prize that was hard to come by.

A student indignantly asked, “That’s… that’s the cultivation resources given to us too, what right do you have to take it away?”

Xiang Ning smirked. “So what’re you gonna do about it? You bullied my sister when I wasn’t around, boldly insulted me behind my back, and even my best friends suffered because of you. What right did you have to do that?”

“Isn’t this all because of you?” the other person asked matter-of-factly.

Xiang Ning was so furious he laughed. Turning to the student, his voice became a deep growl as he spat, “You’re all weak. That’s why you look for excuses and that’s why you huddle up together and forget how weak you actually are, venting your resentment on others! Am I wrong?”

“You’re the one who caused it all! If it wasn’t for you, do you think we’d have resorted to this?” accused another girl.

Xiang Ning shook his head. It was a simple movement, but every student somehow felt sad. How many teenagers wanted to look strong in front of others? When someone shook their head, dismissing their strengths, they would do their best to struggle and prove themselves. Yet such was reality.

“You’re right, it was all because of me. But I’ll challenge them all once, twice, and even thrice if I have to! What about you? My teammates and I were targeted and blocked in the beginning, too, and fought our way up to first place from the bottom of the scoreboard. Do you think the beasts were lining up at our doorstep? When we risked our lives to hunt beasts, what were you doing?

“When my teammates and I intercepted the other teams, causing them to leave the activity early, they straightened themselves out as soon as possible and came to challenge our school. What about you? Have you ever considered going to them to earn your dignity back?

“I say you’re all weak and cowardly, am I wrong?”

The crowd was stunned by Xiang Ning’s consecutive accusations, not daring to make a squeak. A few girls even sobbed.

When Xiang Ning came back to his senses, he had already turned and was heading for the exit. Meeting the admiring gazes of his four teammates, he threw his arm out. “I’ll do anything you dare not do, and take back anything you dare not take back.”

On the platform, Lei Zhongyuan slowly exhaled the breath he had been holding for a full minute; he had been holding it since Xiang Ning’s first word. Watching the field, he couldn’t help but turn to Dong Qianyi next to him, who was energetic as ever, and say, “Old Dong, I’d like to discuss something with you.”

“No, no, you don’t. Goodbye.” Dong Qianyi turned and left, refusing to give Lei Zhongyuan a chance. This was a young man with solid leadership skills! Such a performance had solidified their confidence in his future.

Lei Zhongyuan watched Dong Qianyi leave with regret. If he had known this from the beginning, he wouldn’t have sent a report for Dong Qianyi to come with him. What was he thinking? “No, I must get that kid with me!” he muttered as he watched the man leave.

“Xiang Ning, wait up, we’re coming with you.” Li Zimo and the girls jogged up to him when they came to their senses.

The remaining forty-five students looked at each other.

“Zhang Cheng, where do you think you’re going?” Feng Yi looked at him in disbelief.

“Third School.” Those two simple words were enough to attract everyone’s attention.

“Are you mad? Were you suddenly inspired by a few lines from that guy? Do you think this is a youth television series?” Feng Yi scoffed.

“I used to be so afraid. When I met the students of the other schools, I even lowered my head without realizing it myself. But why? Why must I bow down? That isn’t the philosophy I stand for, so… goodbye.” After saying that, he ran after Xiang Ning’s team.

Slowly, a few more people ran after him.

“You!” Feng Yi was furious. The people around comforted her, “Don’t be mad, they’ve been seduced by Xiang Ning’s words. Do you really think it’s that fun to harass a school? They’re probably going to end up in the hospital for that.”

Although many were touched, self-preservation was still human nature. They thought doing such a thing would gain them no benefits, even possibly injuring themselves and getting mocked. It could be a stain for the rest of their lives. That was why they saw Xiang Ning’s plan as naive, as if this was a fairytale. But Cinderella had to first be pretty for Prince Charming to notice her….

On the other side, Fang Rou and the rest caught up to Xiang Ning, though their faces fell when they did.

Fang Rou shivered. “Tsk, running away right after that stupid show? Impressive.”

Xiang Ning turned and saw his four mates and grinned awkwardly.

“I was telling the truth,” he solemnly explained.

“Yeah, right.” Fang Rou rolled her eyes, then walked up and presented a bottle of healing medicine. She said it wasn’t very different from energy drinks from centuries ago, just much stronger and could replenish one’s energy at higher speeds. It could also help with wound healing.

Xiang Ning grinned and took it while Li Zimo asked, “So we’re really going to Third School? Just the five of us?”

“Yeah, if there’s no one else, the five of us will go.”

“Are you that confident?” Fang Rou worriedly asked. She wasn’t afraid, merely considering the dangers of such an endeavor. Storming a school was a huge deal, and their enemies would never let them go easily.

“Don’t worry, I am.” Xiang Ning mysteriously smiled.
