Unfortunately, Ding Maoxiong was just a second late. Xiang Ning seemed to turn into a ghost, having activated his Assimilated Shadowmist Ghost Step so his movements were as quick as lightning. Xiong Yuan, who was more than fifty meters away from him, only had time to open his mouth before Xiang Ning arrived before him.
“No!” Xiong Yuan’s eyes widened and clenched his teeth. Two daggers hidden behind him shot out, flying at Xiang Ning.
Xiang Ning huffed. “You’re just a tier one, six-star spiritual cultivator, don’t you try to show off in front of me!”
In an instant, he unleashed his tier two, four-star mental power and overrode Xiong Yuan’s control of the two flying daggers. He reached out and grabbed Xiong Yuan’s wrist, tugging it downward. One of the daggers suddenly descended, pinning his hand to the ground.
A shriek rang out and the audience’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Motherfucker!” Xiong Yuan instinctively threw a powerful punch at Xiang Ning’s face.
Xiang Ning thrust his knee out, breaking his nose. Fresh blood sputtered everywhere and Xiong Yuan felt his vision dim, as if he was about to black out. But the fight wasn’t over yet.
“Stop!” Ding Maoxiong panicked. That entire sequence had only lasted three seconds!
The entire crowd barely had time to react and Xiong Yuan was already crippled. Ding Maoxiong, who had been pleased with himself moments ago, looked like he had just seen a ghost. If he wasn’t a tier three, seven-star martial artist, he, too, wouldn’t have been able to react in time.
But even so, it was all too late. With another squelch, Xiong Yuan fell to his knees, both of his hands pinned to the ground by two daggers as if he was kowtowing. He shrieked in agony, “Head Teacher Ding… save me!”
A green vein popped in Ding Maoxiong’s neck as a strong aura burst from his body. Eyes locked on Xiang Ning, he yelled, “Are you trying to kill him?!”
“Head Teacher Ding, I would’ve been dead by now if it weren’t for my skill. You must’ve seen that!” It was true, the two daggers were aimed directly at Xiang Ning’s torso. If they hit their targets, it would undeniably lead to death.
Ding Maoxiong wanted to attack and teach Xiang Ning a lesson, but suddenly felt as if he had been thrust into a freezer, his body turning as cold as the abyss. The moment Ding Maoxiong bore ill intentions towards Xiang Ning, he felt smothered by a terrifying killing intent. But that was impossible, how could there be such a powerful spiritual cultivator in Marsh City?!
The only tier seven sect master in Marsh City was a martial artist. A master who could radiate such a powerful killing intent must be at least as powerful as the sect master from the Thunder Dojo, or even stronger! Who was it? Where was this kid from?
No one noticed Ding Maoxiong’s eerie realization. All they saw was Ding Maoxiong standing in the same spot, his features contorted. They thought he had turned pale because of Xiong Yuan’s pitiful state.
The entire process lasted only a second, because Xiang Ning was looking at Ding Maoxiong. He asked in a low voice, “Head Teacher Ding, are you planning to duel me yourself?”
Duel you? Fuck, why didn’t you say earlier that you’ve got such a powerful entity backing you up? And they say you’re a fucking part-time student? Are you sure you aren’t some disciple from Kyoto?
“No, I only wanted to take Xiong Yuan away.” No matter how fearful he was, Ding Maoxiong didn’t dare show it. If it wasn’t for the crowd of students watching, he would have kissed Xiang Ning’s feet. However, when he arrived before Xiong Yuan, his pupils constricted. Looking at his state, Third School had lost a prodigy today.
Xiong Yuan looked pitiful; even though he was still conscious, his eyes were blank and his face was as pale as a ghost. Although the recovery capsule could quickly heal his body’s wounds, they might not be able to heal the mental scars in this lifetime.
When Xiong Yuan was carried out, Fang Rou rushed to Xiang Ning, worried. “Your arm’s seriously injured.”
“It’s fine, I can still fight.”

When Xiang Ning spoke, even Li Minghao, who had never liked Xiang Ning, spoke up. “What the hell? Do you think you’re some kind of invincible God of War? Look at your arm! We can see your bone!” Li Minghao pointed at his arm. Hmmph, he wasn’t worried about Xiang Ning, he just didn’t want him to embarrass their school.
“Yeah, Xiang Ning, let us take over,” advised Li Zimo.
Lu Shiyu and Fang Rou took a more direct route and simply dragged him away. Xiang Ning quickly blinked, trusting Fang Rou to understand him.
“You’ve got sand in your eye?” Fang Rou stared as he blinked repeatedly.
“Sand? Let me blow it away for you.” Lu Shiyu poked her head over, then pouted her lips to blow.
Xiang Ning was speechless.
“Eh, just trust me. Head Teacher Ding said the recovery capsule was ready, I’ll be fine!” Xiang Ning continuously blinked. He didn’t want to be direct, seeing as there was some trauma related to the capsules, but Ding Maoxiong probably didn’t know the whole story.
When Fang Rou heard him, she instantly fell silent. That bastard was eyeing the recovery fluid in the recovery capsule! She knew that Xiang Ning’s body was a bit special. Patients usually only needed one or two drops to heal, but Xiang Ning required at least ten drops and would simultaneously absorb the energy in the recovery fluid. She still remembered how painful it was when her brother’s savings were wiped out.
“Are you sure?”
“Of course!”
“Alright, you be careful,” Fang Rou said and dragged Lu Shiyu away. Lu Shiyu looked confused. What were they talking about? What was he implying?
The crowd thought Xiang Ning was truly about to retire but he still stood in the field. They didn’t understand, was he really going to kill himself over this?
The students of Third School stared like he was a monster.
“What’re you looking at? Anyone else? Come at me then!” Xiang Ning activated Taunt once more. Admittedly, this Taunt skill was brutally effective. With just a few lines, the rowdy teenagers were provoked again.
During the course of the next ten minutes of duel, the livestream chat erupted.
“Why does it feel like the Third School is sending sacrifices?”
“The Third School students are so weak, at this point they can send me too.”
“That’s not what’s odd—why is Xiang Ning still standing? He’s already fought ten people, this must be a joke!”
Ding Maoxiong’s back had long been drenched in sweat. What kind of monster was this brat? Those ten students were Third School’s strongest competitors. The worst part was that every student he sent sustained severe injuries, the kind that required the recovery capsule. It was brutal to watch.
No one knew how delighted Xiang Ning was.
