After the duel, Xiang Ning checked his user interface and saw an increase of over four hundred Fury Points. He was overjoyed.
When he exited the arena, he gained a hundred Victory Points from the Battle Network system. Victory Points were valuable, and could be exchanged for combat skills. Xiang Ning’s Mountain-Splitting Slash was initially worth a thousand Victory Points. That meant that if Xiang Ning wanted more skills, he had to defeat nine more people, though losing a fight also meant losing fifty points.
Without much thought, he tapped into a match again. This time, the system didn’t assign him a classmate. His opponent was a girl, and though he didn’t know her cultivation level, she probably wasn’t stronger than a tier one Martial Artist.
He picked the battle arena. When they both appeared on the site, the girl paused for a moment, then cocked an eyebrow.
Xiang Ning was slightly frustrated by that. It seemed she knew him, but he didn’t know her. To be fair, though, he had attracted a lot of attention in two days. News of the fight in the cafeteria and defeating Class 2’s Li Minghao had spread. He simply wasn’t aware of its magnitude.
“I’m Fang Rou from Class 2. Are you Class 8’s Xiang Ning?” Fang Rou had already recognized him, but decided to confirm it.
Two seconds of silence ensued. Fang Rou was perplexed—was she wrong?
Her opponent replied, “What do you think?”
Fang Rou was immediately struck dumb and annoyed.

“Hmmph, I knew you were Xiang Ning, the guy who beat Li Minghao in one move. I was hoping to meet you.” Fang Rou was also using a longsword that produced beautiful sparks as she waved it through the air.
At the end of the ten-second countdown, similarly, Fang Rou attacked first. She didn’t use any skills, merely a simple slash.
It looked simple, but her swordsmanship was perfect—many times better than Zhang Cheng’s. Xiang Ning was hurt several times despite his fervent dodging.
“Mountain-Splitting Slash!” Xiang Ning directly struck her, not intending to pull his punches just because she was a girl. She was just a hundred Victory Points in his eyes!
And yet, this technique failed for the first time.
The corner of her lips curved upward. She was prepared to face him; her speciality wasn’t offensive combat, but speed.
“Lost Mist Step.” She moved in a flash, dodging Xiang Ning’s attack. Her sword cut a huge gash across his thigh, resulting in a severe injury.
Xiang Ning stumbled backward in pain and looked at Fang Rou, who had her chin up and was looking down on him. His eyebrows lightly knitted. It looked like he couldn’t be too arrogant now. This Class 2 student could likely be a martial artist. He didn’t think he was the strongest student just because he had broken through to become a martial artist.
“Take this!” Fang Rou used Lost Mist Step again, her footwork so confusing and mysterious that she moved like a ghost. Xiang Ning took a look at the number of Fury Points he had and spent them all on Mental Power
400 Fury Points Spent.

He looked at Fang Rou once more, but this time he was able to follow her figure, if barely. Just as she was about to strike, he contorted his body to avoid it, which greatly surprised Fang Rou. She knew he hadn’t been able to react to her strikes at all in the beginning, so how could he dodge one now?
Xiang Ning wasn’t safe yet, as the dodge had left him in a vulnerable position, allowing her to follow up with another strike. His mind raced, also reacting the moment she struck. He raised his iridium sword to block her attack, then pushed her away with the other hand. Xiang Ning tripped backward over his heels, then quickly clambered back up.
He saw his Fury Points increase.
Fury Points +111
What? He couldn’t believe it when he saw his Fury Points had increased by a hundred-plus points. He looked up, confused, only to see Fang Rou glaring at him. She clenched her teeth, both hands covering her chest. Even an idiot would understand what had just happened. Embarrassed, Xiang Ning scratched his head. He realized that he had touched something soft.

“Uh… I’m sorry about that.” Xiang Ning stood there awkwardly, knowing that he was in the wrong.

Xiang Ning wanted to cry but had no tears; it looked like she wasn’t going to forgive him anytime soon.
Just as he was ready to let her hit him, Fang Rou selected the ‘surrender’ option and quit the duel, leaving him speechless.
“Uh.…”
Xiang Ning wasn’t sure what to say, but he knew he needed to apologize to her face if he met her. He had touched her, after all. Even if it was in virtual reality, he felt it in his hand, so she had definitely felt it too.
He received another hundred Victory Points and was left with approximately three hundred Fury Points after having spent four hundred on his Mental Power.
Taking a look at the time, he decided to enter another match before practicing with a beast. He wanted to practice with a beast whose strong point was speed, for he realized that was his weakness with Fang Rou. If the duel had continued, he would likely have lost to her.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts, and tapped on a match again. When he appeared in the arena, his lips curved upwards. It was Zhang Cheng, from his first match of the class period.

A hundred points before they even spoke! What a kind and generous man!
“Zhang Cheng, we meet again.” Xiang Ning happily gestured. “Thank you for going easy on me in our previous match and letting me win today.”

“I’ll kill you!” A green vein popped on Zhang Cheng’s head and he slashed his sword right at Xiang Ning. Unfortunately, he swung with too much force, leaving himself too open.
Xiang Ning didn’t instantly kill him, but practiced his foundational combat skills instead. That was what he had learned from Fang Rou. Although she hadn’t used any martial skills, her perfect swordsmanship had left him struggling.
The roots were important for the tree.
Zhang Cheng had entered the fight enraged, but slowly calmed down as time passed. He realized Xiang Ning had had an awkward—or more specifically, chaotic—start. Even when he was fighting in a blind rage, Xiang Ning still had a hard time fending him off.
He suddenly realized that Xiang Ning was very weak after all. And when he started to calm down and seriously fight, he even managed to injure Xiang Ning?!
When he thought he had a chance, he heard a powerful voice say, “Mountain-Splitting Slash!” The three words stunned him, then struck him down to the ground, but the system hadn’t declared a victor yet.
Xiang Ning looked down at Zhang Cheng, who was lying face down on the ground. He smirked. “Heh.”
Zhang Cheng was speechless with rage
Ding! User has exited the game due to an extreme surge of emotion. You have won.
Zhang Cheng disappeared in a flash, leaving Xiang Ning with a string of text on his interface.

Zhang Cheng must have realized something.
