The students who were brainlessly bragging about Xiang Ning were also in shock. It was too… too shocking. Xiang Ning had caught the sliver of a second that Nathan was distracted and sent another blade to attack him from behind. When Nathan snapped back to his senses, he wasn’t aware that there was a knife targeting his back and immediately released four more blades to quickly end the fight.
The moment the four blades shot out, there was a loud metallic clang. Nathan was in a daze, then felt like his soul had left his body.
“Oh my god!” A male student clutched his head with both hands, eyes widening.
“That’s.…” A female student covered her eyes with both hands, though her eyes peeked between her fingers, her cheeks burning red.
“Although I hate him, that’s quite brutal.”
“Tsk, that’s awesome.”
The crowd turned speechless as they looked at the teenager who squeezed his thighs together, staring at the sky. Many girls could no longer take it and left.
Xiang Ning was also in a daze. Both Nathan and his knives immediately halted.
“Are… are you alright?” Xiang Ning was in a tough spot. This was awkward!
Nathan’s face had turned a deep shade of scarlet and he was unable to say a word. Natalia wanted to check on him but when she saw the spot that must not be named, she froze. Even she, who was always calm, was shocked.
Xiang Ning realized this was not a good situation to be in, so, using his Mental Power, he pulled the blade out. Nathan’s face changed, then he couldn’t help but let out a small moan. It was deeply humiliating. All the levitating blades fell to the ground.
Nathan fell to his knees, then collapsed face-first to the ground, his eyes open but without any light in them. He had lost all will to live. Once a proud, arrogant man, he had turned into nothing in an instant. Xiang Ning felt like he had truly offended the man. It was just a coincidence that it went in, he had no choice! He felt like it wasn’t his fault.
Xiang Ning coughed twice, then, after some thought, left the knife behind. “Just treat it as a gift.”
Looking at the bloody knife, Nathan’s blood boiled and a wave of power surged through him. Nathan had broken through and become a tier four spiritual cultivator.
Sensing the reverberations, Xiang Ning’s eyes widened. Damn, he could break through from just a stabbing? The battle wasn’t over. Now that Nathan was a tier four spiritual cultivator, Xiang Ning wasn’t confident in beating him. It would be best if he ran as soon as possible after the incident.
“Uh... congratulations on your breakthrough.”
Nathan coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face turning ghostly pale.
Alarmed, Xiang Ning hurriedly said, “I admit defeat. I’ve got matters to attend to at home, and I forgot to lock the gates. Bye.” Then he leaped off the stage, dragged Fang Rou and the rest away, and slipped out.
Tears suddenly flowed down Nathan’s face. It had taken him so much effort to suppress his cultivation, yet he had broken through at this moment. He would never… be a dual cultivator forever.
“Look, he’s crying.”
“He’s probably touched because of his breakthrough to tier four.”
“Tier four, that’s the border that makes a difference between cannon fodder and a true soldier in battle. He’s benefited from this.”
“Yeah, it’s the same for everyone who’s fought Teacher Xiang Ning. Think about it, the students of Third School were provoked enough to improve quickly, Wu Rui from Hanwu Academy broke through during the battle, Monk received teachings, and now Nathan attained tier four. Although how Xiang Ning did it was violating, Nathan still benefited from it!”
Despite all the comments, only people who truly understood the martial arts knew how much pain Nathan was in. His spiritual cultivation had advanced before his martial arts did. That meant he would never become a dual cultivator, and wouldn’t master both aspects forever. Advancing a tier was a good thing to others, but a tragedy to him.

“Old Qi, I think… should we open a recovery capsule for him?” Lei Zhongyuan didn’t know how to react.
“Sigh, we’ll bend the rules for him. Let him into the capsule, this is a tragedy.” Qi Jiuming shook his head. Nobody would want to be in his place right now.
“Do you think anyone from the Aurig Central Academy will come looking for trouble?”
“Hehe, would they dare?” Qi Jiuming coldly chuckled. They were the ones who had acted stupid and failed. That was their own fault!
“Hehe, that’s true. However, I am curious, is Xiang Ning’s Mental Power really that strong? Their gap was huge on paper, but Xiang Ning held the fort for a long time.”
“Don’t ask me, I don’t know. Well, if he really has been targeted by the higher-ups, I don’t think he’s a normal person.”

Mingzhe Lake.
Xiang Ning and his team sat in a pavilion. No one brought up what just happened. It was just too awkward.…
“Cough cough. Uh... Li Zimo, Fang Rou, eat this.” Xiang Ning gave them two pills. They had eaten similar pills in the wilderness before; they had helped with their injuries.
There was silence again. In the end, Xiang Ning scratched his head and asked, “Aren’t you guys going to ask me how I grew so strong?”
“Oh, so how did you grow so strong?” asked Li Zimo.
“I can’t tell you.”
Everyone fell silent.
“But I can teach you,” said Xiang Ning with a grin.
The crowd looked at each other, then laughed. Xiang Ning had disappeared after the Mid-Autumn Festival. Other than Fang Rou, no one knew where he had gone. It was as if he had evaporated from society without a trace, but whenever that happened he would always return much stronger.
“Sure, and it’s your words, not ours. The other students are already calling you Teacher Xiang Ning.” Lu Shiyu grinned.
Xiang Ning scratched his head; it was a heavy title to bear.
“Xiang Ning, my future depends on you.” Fang Rou nodded at him. She was the only one who could sense the magnitude of his Keen Observation skill. During their previous sparring session, she hadn’t noticed, only thinking that he had become stronger. However, now she could feel him seeing through all her flaws. It was exciting to think that they could work together to fix all of them one by one.
Xiang Ning still didn’t understand the importance of his abilities. He looked at her, puzzled. “I don’t have any more space in my house.”
Everyone was caught between laughter and tears.
