Wang Zhe listened to their conversation and felt confused. “So you guys were siblings all along? Who are you and how do you know Xiang Ning?” He didn’t know that the Fang siblings went to the same school as them. He thought they were the ones instigating and trying to pick a fight with the honest Xiang Ning. Did Xiang Ning, who grew up alongside his sister as his sole family member, do something to Fang Rou or cross Fang Hao? He was irritated by how they were troubling Xiang Ning.
“I’m Fang Rou, you must be Wang Zhe. I’m from Class 2. Hurry up and make Xiang Ning get off the stage or my brother will beat him to death!” Fang Rou stared daggers at Fang Hao.
Wang Zhe stopped for a moment. “Class 2? Li Minghao? So it was him that told the two of you to stir up some trouble with Xiang Ning after his loss.”
Wang Zhe’s imagination, while commendable, was going way too many places.
Fang Rou gritted her teeth. “No! Get him off the training mat now!”
Wang Zhe was confused since the story he concocted in his head was disproved. Tier three martial artists, even when only using 20% of their power, weren’t people Xiang Ning could defeat regardless of battle experience or techniques. This would be a one-sided massacre.
Xiang Ning shook his head. “Let’s begin.” He didn’t want to delay any longer, and he had a plan. He intended to fight against Fang Hao for the sake of his cultivation.
He took a look at the system interface.
Level: Tier one, one-star martial artist (107/1000)
Mental Power: 20 [+]
Battle Technique: Mountain-Splitting Slash (Assimilation)
Skills: Keen Observation, Advanced Breathing Technique
Xiang Ning stared at the hundred and seven experience points and felt helpless. This was the culmination of using the Advanced Breathing Technique for three whole days. If he wanted to breakthrough to the second star, it would take him at least thirty days, and it would take even longer to breakthrough three and four stars. His cultivation speed would only become slower and slower the higher he went. The only way he could raise his cultivation fast enough was through battles.
He wanted to spar with Fang Hao not only because he could drastically raise his cultivation, but he would be able to earn Fang Rou's forgiveness. He was more than happy with his plan.
“Good! I see that you have courage. I admire people like you, and I’ll pay you a thousand dollars after the spar as per the regulations!” Fang Hao exclaimed.
Fang Rou wanted to kill her brother upon hearing his proclamation. If the people at school knew about this, how would she even face them? It would be too disgraceful if people knew that her brother took revenge on her behalf because she wasn’t able to win against Xiang Ning.
Xiang Ning slowly took a battle stance and silently activated Keen Observation.
Keen Observation: Failed
Keen Observation: Failed
Multiple failures in a row. But that was within Xiang Ning’s expectations, as the larger the strength gap was, the less likely it was that Keen Observation would be successful. Even if Fang Hao gave him some slack, a difference of two tiers would still greatly lower the rate of success for the skill.
“Here I come!” Fang Hao viciously swung his sword down when he got within five steps of Xiang Ning. As the sword was swinging toward his face, Xiang Ning instinctively knew that it was the same swordsmanship as Fang Rou’s.
Xiang Ning showed no signs of weakness. “Mountain-Splitting Slash!” An overwhelming strength radiated from him, but Fang Hao calmly deflected it.
Boom! Xiang Ning’s sword was deflected by Fang Hao and attacked the floor instead. Somehow the wood of the arena held up.
“Careful now!” Fang Hao’s voice rang as he suddenly appeared on the left of Xiang Ning, his sword raised high.
Wang Zhe shouted, “Careful!” with all his might.
Xiang Ning blocked the attack with everything he had, but Fang Hao followed up by kicking Xiang Ning in the gut and sending him flying across the ring.
“Xiang Ning!” Wang Zhe approached him but was stopped when Xiang Ning raised his arm.
“Don’t!” He slowly stood up.
Level: Tier one, one-star martial artist (192/1000) +85
From that single kick, Xiang Ning had obtained eighty-five points of experience. He was ecstatic when he saw he had obtained an amount of experience that would otherwise have required two nights of practice using the Advanced Breathing Technique.

“Again!” Xiang Ning rushed forward and was sent flying back again.

“Again!”

…
Three minutes later….
“I think that’s enough.” Fang Hao looked at Xiang Ning with a hint of awe in his eyes.
Wang Zhe could watch no further as Xiang Ning’s face had been badly bruised by the beating. His body was badly bruised, too, though it was currently covered by his shirt.
“Xiang Ning, stop it! That’s enough!” Fatty Wang sweated bullets as his heart was torn. He was the one who had invited Xiang Ning to the dojo, and he would never forgive himself if anything happened to him. He wouldn’t even be able to explain it to Xiang Xiaoyu.
“Xiang Ning, please stop… I forgive you, okay?” Fang Rou couldn’t watch any further, either, as she thought that Xiang Ning was doing this to allow her brother to vent his anger.
Xiang Ning didn’t even bother to look at them as he stood up with his battered body and smiled because he had made a breakthrough and was now a tier one, two-star martial artist.
But his smile infuriated Fang Rou. What is the meaning of this? Is he laughing at me?
Fury Points +88
Xiang Ning was confused by the sudden increase in Fury Points. Then suddenly, a notification arrived from the system.
Keen Observation: Success
In an instant, Xiang Ning’s brain was flooded with Fang Hao’s posture and attack sequence. From that information, he saw that Fang Hao’s left shoulder had sustained an injury before. Overjoyed, he plotted a countermeasure.
He discreetly swallowed a pill and restored 10% of his stamina before raising his sword and rushing forward.
Fang Hao was impressed by his tenacity and slashed his sword at Xiang Ning.
Xiang Ning received the attack head-on, but then stopped his charge, spun to the left, and stabbed Fang Hao’s guts. The sudden attack surprised Fang Hao because he felt that Xiang Ning had increased his speed and energy, but still didn’t think much as he slightly retreated.
Xiang Ning’s eyes flashed as he saw an opportunity.
“Mountain-Splitting Slash!”
The overwhelming strength radiated once again, this time even stronger than before, and Fang Hao hastily defended against it. Xiang Ning was smiling, because he was aiming directly at Fang Hao’s left shoulder.
Fang Hao’s eyes widened as the attack was stopped dead in its tracks. Was this a coincidence? He started losing his cool as the subsequent attacks confirmed his suspicions—Xiang Ning knew his weakness! The attacks from Xiang Ning were fierce and always aimed at his left shoulder. While he was able to defend against every single one, he wasn’t able to launch a counterattack.
Fang Rou and Wang Zhe’s jaws dropped. Fang Hao was cornered at the edge of the ring and was dangerously close to being forced out of the ring. His aura suddenly surged and he sent Xiang Ning flying across the ring after blocking another attack.
Wang Zhe immediately panicked and ran up to the arena to check on Xiang Ning before shrieking, “Didn’t you say you would use only 20% of your power?!”
Fang Hao had accidentally used 40% of his power when he panicked, which was equivalent to an attack from a tier two martial artist.
Level: Tier one, three-star martial artist (1/1500)
Xiang Ning laughed again, and Wang Zhe could only sigh.
