“Understood.” Xiang Ning and Six answered in unison.
But not more than five seconds later a loud explosion rang out from the southwestern part of the city. Both of them remembered their orders and stayed still. Another five seconds passed and another explosion rang from the southeastern part of the city. This time it was an ultrasonic explosion that would deter beasts.
The two signaled each other and ran toward the underground parking lot at full speed.
“Don’t stop! Keep running!” Xiang Ning signaled as his flying knives flew around to protect them. He was using both the Sovereign’s Throne and the Devourer’s pressure to deter the beasts. Plus, they had killed all of the beasts that crossed their path.
There was nothing else they could do; the number of beasts was simply too overwhelming. Even if they used a sonic bomb, some of the lower-tier beasts would still be confused and lost.
Three disorientated beasts blocked the path of Six along the way. Luckily Xiang Ning’s knives were already in position and killed the beasts with ease.
While Xiang Ning and Six were rushing forward, the cult members finally noticed them from their respective hiding spots.
“Target found, wait till they enter the underground parking lot and prepare the beast attractant powder. Launch the RPG five minutes later,” the squad leader ordered.
Far away from the city, Li Yunfei was also plotting something and could finally put his plan into action.
“Kill them all!” In an instant, dozens of martial artists wearing exo-suits appeared out of the darkness and ran into the different buildings.
Thanks to Six’s early warning, they could at least do something to disrupt the cult members. While they weren’t sure they could stop them all, it was still worth it to kill as many as they could.
The moment Xiang Ning and Six entered the parking lot, the five-minute timer dictating their fate started.
Once underground, both Xiang Ning and Six no longer needed to hide. The parking lot was small; it was also the resting spot for the Octoviolet Silversnake, so naturally there wouldn’t be any other beasts there. However, they picked up the presence of several beasts further ahead, doubtless the ones fighting against Fang Hao and the rest. The parking lot was badly damaged, as if a large battle had occurred.
Both of them walked forward until they reached a broken door. The door had a hole in the middle, as if a giant beast had barrelled through. It was large enough to fit in a tank.
“Don’t alert the snake! We’ll head down, save them, and immediately escape!”
Xiang Ning nodded. “Wait—there’s a total of seventeen beasts down below. Let me attack first. My knives are coated in the cure.”
“Seventeen?! Isn’t that too many?”
“Don’t worry, just chop their heads off when my knife strikes them. It should be fine. I’ll even leave one or two of them alive for you to train with.”
Six’s face paled when he heard that.
“Relax, don’t panic, and stay calm.”
Six could only bitterly smile. To think that I’d need a newbie like you to come and console me.
They looked at each other and passed through the gate.
The beasts were unaffected by what was happening outside as they were scratching and pounding against a giant metal door.
On the other side of the door was Fang Hao. He was badly injured, as was apparent by his blood-caked face, and his body was pale due to blood loss. He urgently needed treatment.
“Young Master, please persevere! The rescue squad should be arriving soon!”

Fang Hao could only nod in response. He was so weak that he didn’t even have the energy to speak.
Xiang Ning looked at the beasts attacking the metal gate and chuckled. “Look at those—I’ll leave them to you. The rest are for me.” As he said that, ten flying knives flew out and silently killed some of the beasts. He timed it at exactly the moment when the beasts were crashing against the metal gate, so his knives wouldn’t be noticed. He took down two beasts at a time.
Unfortunately, the smell of blood spread through the room and the other beasts noticed them when he had only managed to take out eight of his targets.
“Welp, looks like we don’t have a choice. Now it’s your time to shine.” He unsheathed the Devourer and dominated the beasts. None of them were as fierce as before.
Six was already prepared to show his full strength, but due to the presence of the Devourer, the beasts could only fight at 40% of theirs. It was no different than killing oversized chickens! And here he had been feeling excited that he could showcase his skills in front of Xiang Ning.
Suddenly, an explosion rocked the entire city. A shrieking hiss could be heard as the entire underground parking space rumbled.
“Not good! The Octoviolet Silversnake’s been alerted! We need to finish this quickly!” Six immediately rushed into the group of beasts with his long sword.
Xiang Ning used his flying knives to kill the rest of the beasts at breakneck speed.
“What’s going on?! What’s happening outside?” Old Zhou was also alerted to the explosion outside. His face lit up as he turned to Fang Hao. “Young Master! The rescue team is here!”
They then heard the dying howls of the beasts outside of the metal gate and immediately prepared to open it.
They heard gunfire when he opened the gate. “You’re here!”
“Where’s Fang Hao?” Xiang Ning was worried about him. He was praying that the last person in the bunker would be him.
“He’s inside.” Old Zhou almost shed tears, unbefitting of a tier five martial artist.
When Fang Hao heard that the rescue team had arrived, he gathered the last remaining dregs of his energy and stood up. When he saw Xiang Ning, he almost slapped himself to ensure that he wasn’t dreaming.
“Hey there, you’re looking a little disheveled.” Xiang Ning walked forward and piggybacked Fang Hao.
“You! Why’re you here?” Fang Hao could barely contain his surprise and excitement.
“Hmm, your voice is still as loud as always, but it seems to be devoid of energy. Are you experiencing issues with your kidneys?” Xiang Ning laughed as he chucked two healing pills into Fang Hao’s mouth.
Fang Hao felt something in his mouth, but trusted Xiang Ning enough to know that he wouldn’t harm him. He promptly swallowed it and angrily shouted, “Which idiot sent you here?! Was he kicked in the head by a donkey?!”
“Hmm?” Fang Hao realized that his strength had recovered by 20% and he was no longer on death’s door.
“Who cares, if it wasn’t because of me you would’ve been dead by now. I’ll boil a soup made from the penis of a Pale Moon for you, I guarantee that you’ll be fully recovered in no time.”
Fang Hao was speechless. He didn’t know what had happened, but Xiang Ning's strength was nowhere near where it had been three months before.
