Xiang Ning felt like he had probably used up his luck for the day. It would be best if he hurried home.
Very quickly, he arrived at a busier part of the city. There was a celebration ahead, celebrating the success in blocking off the beast invasion after the nerve-wracking period of struggle. It was time to celebrate their small win.
Xiang Ning turned his bike to a quieter alley, but just as he turned in, a figure shot out of the shadows. Startled, he braked and drifted a distance before coming to a halt. Coincidentally, as he drifted, another person shot out of the shadows and was knocked down by the back of his bike as it drifted, tumbling to the ground in pain. He didn’t know what the back of his bike hit, but before him was a small figure, equally startled as he was.
He hurriedly dismounted and walked over to the person clad in a pink hoodie with the hood pulled up. Based on this person’s stature, hoodie color, and long hair, he concluded that she was a young girl. He would be in deep trouble if he had hit a girl.
He frantically asked, “Are you alright? Are you hurt? Let me take you to the hospital?”
“Alright!”
Xiang Ning was surprised at such a decisive reply, which left him confused. Then his Combat Instinct alerted him to danger. He didn’t move, only expanding his mind to blast away a person charging at him with a dagger using his Mental Power.
Xiang Ning turned to see a person lying and shrieking on the ground. There were five people in total, all of them clad in black. One of them went to check on the person he had hit with the back of his bike.
The other three held daggers in an obvious manner. One of them steadied themselves and cautiously glared at Xiang Ning. “This has nothing to do with you. Leave now and don’t get yourself entangled in this or your family will be in danger.”
A regular person would be terrified at such a warning. Anyone could play hero and disregard the consequences, but when it came to their families, any courage would shrivel up and die. But Xiang Ning was one of the exceptions. Why would he be afraid?
“No!” Xiang Ning indignantly said.
Fury Points +111
These must be city gangsters. Do they think they can threaten anyone just because they wear black, carry knives, and formed a group? But Xiang Ning also knew that he wouldn't be able to find these people again if he sent other people to search for them. It was a dark alley, how could he identify anyone?
“Careful. This is an odd one. That bike isn’t cheap, either, so he could be quite strong,” said one of the people in black.
Xiang Ning looked at the men in black, then at the shivering girl hiding behind him. He took out his phone. “Good evening, there’s suspicious people on Number 31, East Street. I suspect they’re rapists. Yes, yes, I can’t tell you my name right now, since they already threatened me.… Huh? Don’t worry, just send a few men over. I can settle them myself. Yes, yes, I’m a martial artist, the tier four kind.”
He didn’t earn any Fury Points after the call. Instead, the five men in black shivered. Tier four? They were in deep trouble. They knew the bike was expensive, but hadn’t expected its owner to be a tier four martial artist.
Tier four was considered upper class here. Although the government encouraged everyone to cultivate, it was to increase the number of cultivators as well as discover talents to train. In general, commoners could only attain tier one or two. Tier three was rare, and tier four was rarer still.
Even beasts were considered Beast Generals at tier four!
Take Xiang Ning’s school, for instance. There were many people in the special training class but fewer than twenty had reached tier three, while the rest were in tier two. Among the regular students, even the smartest were in the early stages of tier one.

Similarly, the girl was very relieved. A powerful tier four martial artist wouldn’t be afraid of them!
“What do we do?” asked Blackshirt One.
“This is our chance. If we miss it, it’ll be difficult to get another. Also, that bunch of dogs will definitely sniff us out. If we go back, we’ll be exposed, so I’d rather fight it out here. Also, do you think it’s that easy to meet a tier four master?!”
“Yeah, this kid is so young I can smell the milk on his breath. He’s probably some rich guy’s son, one of those soft boys. He won’t be as strong as people like us who train every day.”
Xiang Ning wanted to laugh as the men started hyping each other up. What a bunch of naive idiots. He suddenly recalled all the Fury Points he had spent on the raffle and his six hundred and sixty-six consecutive losses and hesitated a bit, but since these lambs were practically showing up at his doorstep, he could shear some points from them!
After some thought, he turned to the girl with a grin and asked, “Do you trust me?”
The girl trembled and lowered her head. Xiang Ning saw her biting her lip. After three seconds, she nodded, and he smiled. “Alright. Don’t worry, wait here and I’ll be back very soon.”
As he spoke, twenty blades appeared. Every one of them coldly glinted in the dark alley. Her eyes widened and a chill ran down the men’s spines.
“Hey, don’t worry. I won’t kill you. I’ll just hand you to the police,” chuckled Xiang Ning.
“Let’s go! He’s a spiritual cultivator, so his physical body is weak. Once we touch him, he’s done!” yelled one of the men. All five immediately charged.
Their jaws dropped when all twenty blades orbited around the girl, forming a protective shield while Xiang Ning held out a hand and clenched his fist. A 1.8-meter-long sword materialized, looking intimidating. It used to be 1.7 meters long, but had grown after it’d devoured the Octoviolet Silversnake’s beast core. It was shocking both in size and aura.
When the Devourer appeared, Xiang Ning sneered like the devil. “What a coincidence! I’m a dual cultivator.”
“NO! RUN!” They immediately broke.
Marsh City was supposed to be a minor, peripheral city! Although they had a tier seven master guarding the place, there weren’t many high-tier martial artists since they only started special training this year. So what were the chances of meeting a tier four dual cultivator? Looking at the red, glowing sword, they could see that it was no ordinary blade—this guy must be both a powerful and influential figure!
