Moray was visibly surprised by Xiang Ning’s challenge and put a hand up to his ear. No one knew if he really thought he had heard wrong or if he was just acting.

“Did you say… you wanted to challenge me?” he sneered. He glanced at Nathan, then at Xiang Ning and smirked. “Do you think I can’t touch you with Mr. Nathan’s protection?”

“First, I don’t know what the misunderstanding is, but I’m not related to Nathan at all. Second, I’m not actually a person like that, but you’re too reckless. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’re going to interrupt me when I study how to open that door later.”

“Hehe, I haven’t even taken my revenge yet and you’re serving yourself to me. You lowly scum, I can’t believe you put those marks down there so we would stumble into danger and traps. It’s your fault those people died. Even if I can’t touch you now, when we get out of here, I’ll make you wish you were dead!” Moray’s tone was so cold everyone felt their chests tighten.

Everyone else, including Nathan and Natalia, felt that Moray’s threat could be real. He had the power to do so, being from Dexter Corporation, the world’s largest arms dealer. It was a giant in manufacturing battle armor, hot, and cold weapons. Not even the government would want to offend a corporation like that.

Threats issued by the progeny of large families like that one were not to be taken lightly.

“Hehe. Before I straight up call you guys idiots, let me ask you, didn’t you refuse to follow us in the beginning? So if you did decide to come, that meant you eventually realized I was right. What have the injuries and deaths got to do with me? Most importantly, don’t you think you’re overestimating yourself?”

“Hahaha, do you really not fear death?” The people who subsequently came out all coldly glared at Xiang Ning. They all hated his guts after Moray’s brainwashing; they weren’t stupid, just unbalanced in the mind.

Why did Xiang Ning’s group get to leave unscathed? And why did they have to almost die on the way here? You punk! Why was it you who found this safe haven? Their minds grew unbalanced and they needed a venting point for their anger.

“What’re you all doing? You all made the choice, why’re you blaming him?” One of the people who followed Xiang Ning couldn’t help but step forward, though dozens of eyes now fell on him and his chest tightened.

It was no longer a matter of reason. They were going to explode if they didn’t have a place to vent their anger. And who looked like the easiest to bully? Xiang Ning. But he was also the person who had saved them. If he had taken his time to persuade them, would they still be like this? They had shifted all their doubt and blame onto Xiang Ning and convinced themselves that everything was his fault. If only he hadn’t immediately left, if only he had waited for them to make a decision. Their thoughts grew more and more twisted.

But was Xiang Ning afraid? He stood in silence, watching the people. To be honest, he was afraid because their glares were creepy. Though, he couldn’t help but smirk when he saw that he had earned more than ten thousand Fury Points in a short minute.

Nathan was impressed. He was wondering if Xiang Ning would surrender in the face of so many tier five martial artists, or if he would be afraid. Nathan felt like even he would have to stand back in this situation.

Natalia didn’t comment, but there was an extra glint in her eyes in the way she looked at Xiang Ning.

Xiang Ning’s smirk sent the newcomers into utter rage!

“You bastard, do you want to die?”

“Do you really think Nathan can protect you?”

“You’re just a lucky kid, why’re you faking it?”

“I’ve always hated newcomers like you who act so arrogant just because they’ve got a bit of talent.”

Insults rumbled like dull thunder. Every sentence came with an angry tier five martial artist fiercely glaring at Xiang Ning, as if they couldn’t wait to tear him apart.

Xiang Ning stood his ground, doing nothing, as if he was paralyzed with fear. “Hehe, you guys sound like helpless animals,” came his sudden remark. The crowd exploded.

“I’ll kill you!” Moray roared and charged, aiming for Xiang Ning’s head. The rest of them followed.

Xiang Ning looked at them with an icy gaze. From Nathan’s perspective, he should be able to survive this ordeal, but he wondered if Xiang Ning really thought they didn’t dare kill him. Everyone there was stained with blood, especially Moray. As arms dealers, they saw human lives like how one saw blades of straw.

“Sigh, I still want to defeat him. Crazy requires payment with crazy,” sighed Nathan.

The other three wanted to step forward and stop them, but there were too many people. Thus, they watched with widened eyes as Xiang Ning remained frozen.

“Hahaha, you must be stunned. But it’s too late! Even if you beg on your knees now, I’ll still kill you!” Moray announced like a madman, his spit flying in all directions.

Suddenly, a black cylinder appeared right in front of Xiang Ning’s body! The hard tube took the brunt of Moray’s slash, sending him flying back.

“Ssss!” The pressure lock sounded and the tube opened to reveal a 1.7-meter-long sword. Under Xiang Ning’s nourishment, today, the Devourer looked like an exquisite piece of art, bright and shiny, as reflective as a mirror. At the connection between the hilt and the blade, the huge attachment was covered with a pulsing, gray-black goo, upon which were several amber-like spheres that looked like eyeballs, flickering and glowing a faint yellow. Everyone was shaken by its sudden appearance.

“Oops, you flipped the switch.” Xiang Ning emerged with a cold smirk, grabbing the hilt. He tugged and the Devourer fell forward, so Xiang Ning was pulled by its weight and instantly bent at his hips. Fuck, he forgot the Devourer was currently very fat from all the nourishment. It was now heavier than what he could handle.

Everyone jumped, though they didn’t guess that it was too heavy for him. They looked at him oddly because now, with a vein popped on his face and his knees bent, it looked like he was striking a pose….
