In my entire life I've never lacked anything materialistic.
Thanks to my position as the youngest son of Marquis Alaistar, I was able to get what I wanted with just a snap of my finger.
However recently something has been troubling me for a while.
"Luke Alaistar! Don't you dare run away! You've been assigned to become the Tactician of hero's team! You are a hero!"
It was this noisy saint knocking on my door day and night that I couldn't even get a good night's rest.
"Luke, are you sick again? Go and call a doctor"
"Oh my, young master is sick again?"
My half sister and servants who continued to emphasize the word 'again' before I could even explain anything, was driving me crazy.
Just when I was about to explode, my eldest brother came in, looking very angry.
"Why is everyone flocking around Luke's room? Go back to your work"
Fortunately everyone obeyed him and left immediately. With cold eyes, he stared at me in silence, his usually stoic face making an expression difficult to understand.
"What?"
"Drink this"
He threw a bottle of expensive potion at me. It was a potion so expensive that my hands were trembling from just holding it.
"Why you-"
"When I'm back, that bottle better be empty"
Thud!
"..."
The door closed and he had long left but I was still speechless.
Isn't he the brother that hated my very existence? What happened?
Why is everyone acting like I'm about to die?

2 month prior to this day...
It was a sunny summer day. Standing under the scorching sun in black clothes, the blonde haired boy was almost on the verge of fainting.
"Sniff.. Poor Marchioness, to leave the world at such a young age.."
The maid besides him sobbed continuesly after the deceased Marchioness Ophelia who was now resting 6 feet underground.
'Why's she even crying for a woman like that?'
The woman referred here was in fact Luke's biological mother. Nonetheless Luke was grateful that the God of Underworld has decided to take her early.
No one could blame him for thinking like that. She was like a reincarnation of a witch. Obsessed with making her only son the next Marquis, she'd attack his elder siblings who were born from the previous wife constantly and treat the servants like trash.
No wonder even her husband didn't attend her funeral.
Luke was also planning to skip it but the maid who cried after her horrible tempered lady looked pathetic so he also decided to come as well.
"Maria, go back and prepare me a cold drink. I've something to say to mother"
"Sniff.. O-oh, okay. I'll leave you alone"
As soon as Maria left, Luke became the only person in the funeral of his crazy mother.
With a smile, Luke gently wiped the tombstone.
"What a shame. It seems like your husband won't come until the end"
His words were cold and full of mockery.
He truly wanter to laugh at his mother, who was alone until the end.
And the only person she waited for all her life didn't even bother to spare a glance.
"Pathetic"
She was a Marchioness yet she still wanted more despite having everything in the palm of her hand. Her greed eventually destroyed her entire life before she even caught that illness.
"I won't live like you, Marchioness"
It was a promise Luke gave himself rather than the cold empty tombstone.
He won't live miserably, always longing for love of someone who'd never look at them.
As a son of one of the richest nobleman, Luke will live his life to the fullest and die a happy man.
Feeling a little lighter, he decided to leave the grave but was met with another person.
"What are you doing here?"
It was his half brother, Louis Alaistar, also the next Marquis. A person who's so workaholic that he doesn't even take a day off during holidays was here to attend the funeral.
Not only was he here for a stepmother that always harassed him but he was even holding a bouquet of red roses.
"I came here to offer my condolences"
"Ha. You really know how to joke, brother"
Luke just walked past him.
From whose fault was it that Louis decided to develop poison resistant and had to go around with a guard in his own home? If it was him he'd burn down the tombstone instead of bringing flowers.
Anyway Luke was glad the pointless funeral was finally over.
"Kevin, prepare a carriage. I'm going to the academy" Luke ordered the head butler as he unbuttoned his shirt quickly to escape the heat.
The head butler responded with full of concern.
"Young master, won't you rest home? I already notified the academy about your absence-"
"I feel very stuffy at home. So would you be as kind as to call a carriage without talking back?"
Kevin bowed apologetically at his cold tone.
"My apologies. I'll prepare one right away"
"Good"
As Luke walked through the hallway, he could see the servants glancing and gossiping about him like a bunch of flies buzzing around.
Usually he'd pick on these type of idiots and make them know their place but today he was in an exceptionally good mood so he decided to let them off.
After changing into a more comfortable clothes, Luke headed out.
The carriage was already ready and Maria brought cookies along with a cold drink just in time. The coachman skillfully took him to the academy without making the carriage shake as much as possible.
It was truly a pleasant day, which is something Luke rarely has.
"Pick me up by 5 o'clock"
"Yes, young master"
Luke walked into the academy, pleasantly humming a song.
"Oh god, is that Luke Alaistar?"
"I heard the Marchioness Ophelia passed away yesterday. Why is he here already?"

"You think someone as cold blooded as him would care about that?"
"You're right. I heard that-...."
Noisy, noisy.
Again, Luke ignored the gossiping students and walked away arrogantly.
It was a good day. He decided to spare the trouble and not to associate himself with those lowlifes.
"What a nice weather"
He climbed on the tree and sat on his usual spot. Under the influence of a gentle breeze that was neither too hot nor cold, his eyelids felt heavy.
It was a perfect time for a nap.
"What are you doing?! Leave me alone!"
Of course his nice day didn't last long.
Before he could even close his eyes, the scream of a girl echoed around the area.
"Haha, and exactly why do we have to listen to you, commoner?"
"That's right. You shouldn't have provoked Lady Natalie in the first place. Can you really blame us?"
The boys who seemed to be students laughed around together like a third-rate villains from a third-rate novel. It was unsightly to witness bunch of guys ganging up on one girl. Luke uncomfortably shifted to the other side.
'Well, it's none of my business. Let's just sleep'
"I-I'm Kyle Goodhill's friend. If you touch me the principal won't let you off- Ackk"
The girl yelped in pain. Her red hair was caught up in one of the tall guys' hand, her feet unable to touch the ground.
"Kyle Goodhill? That commoner who appeared out of nowhere because he's somewhat decent at swinging a sword? Well, let's see how he'd act if he saw his friend like this"
"L-let me go! I will scream!"
Luke rolled his eyes.
'God, you're already screaming'
There's no way he'd be able to take proper nap in this situation.
"Aww, she said she's going to scream. What should we do?"
"Go ahead and scream. No one will hear-"
"Hey, dimwit"
They stopped talking the moment Luke called them.
"You brainless dumbasses, look up"
The culprit who addressed them rudely smiled from the tree brach as soon as their eyes met.
"Seeing how you looked up, I guess you know your names"
"Y-you.."
"Oh god, is that Luke Alaistar?"
It was easy to recognize Luke, the youngest son of Marquis with a notorious reputation.
With a messy blonde hair and emerald green eyes, he was by no means a nobleman and acted more like a delinquent. He'd beat up everyone regardless of their status no matter how many.
Because of his background, he's able to get away with most of the things scot free. Last time he fought with a knight who came to teach combat class and sent him to the hospital. The knight was too embarassed to file a complaint that they resigned right away and the incident became one of the most interesting gossip for a while.
Facing with that Luke, the 6 guys momentarily fell into silence.
"Can you guys stop wasting air and kill yourselves? I'm trying to sleep here"
"Aren't you speaking way too rudely to your seniors?"
A long sigh escaped Luke.
'Here goes my nice day'
He hated being woken up for useless things the most. And it seems like these idiots won't stop until he personally tells them off.
"Are you guys third year students?"
"What? Are you scared?"
It seems like they're indeed third year. After all, his juniors would never dare to pick a fight and the second year students all witnessed him beating someone up so they won't act so recklessly either. If they're fourth years, they should be busy training their asses off for graduation which only leaves the third year.
Which reminded him that his elder sister Loraine is representative of that year too.
'I guess people born on her year are all arrogant pricks like her'
Thinking so, Luke jumped off the tree.
Arrogant and stupid is a combination he could never tolerate.
"Here, I came down for you since you pigs would take thousand years to get there. Where's my thanks?"
"Y-You bastard... Everyone get him!"
"But he's the Marquis's-" one of the sidekicks mumbled but their leader, Mark snapped back.
"So what? Is he the only noble around here?"
"You're right"
Mark was also from a Count family with quite a lots of influence. His friends gained courage with that and attacked Luke instantly.
As for Luke, he has seen this sight countless times, to the point he wanted to nap right then and there.
'I guess little exercise won't hurt'
When the first guy came, he dodged to the side skillfully and pushed him down with his elbow then threw him away. As the poor guy tumbled on the ground, he threw the next one on top of him like a sack of dirt.
As it was forbidden to use magic within the academy, Luke had lots of advantage when it came to a dog fight.
Throwing a sand into their eyes or biting their ear is normal for him.
Rosemary, who witnessed the fight that looked like a children's play was astonished.
When Luke first appeared, he seemed to be cool and elegant guy but..
"Hahaha, is that all you have? You punch worse than a 10 year old!"
'He is crazy'
The fight was anything but elegant.
Moreover the person in question seemed to be genuinely enjoying the situation.
"Hey, stand up! I know you're still awake. The fun has just began so what's wrong?"
'There's no way he'd be able to move if you step on his head like that!'
Her savior was treating his opponent like an absolute trash. Of course in a 6vs1 situation, he got hit once or twice but his bruised face made him look even more scary.
"Rose, what's going on here?"
Because she was so astonished by the fight, she didn't notice her friend's presence until he asked a question.
"Kyle?"
The youngest 4th-star magic-swordsan was looking at Luke unpleasantly.
