Chapter 1: I AM….

I am the Trifect....

I was there when we purged the Precursors. I was there when we fought and defeated humanity. I was there when we fought the flood. I am the one that activated the rings.

I am the one that lived...

I knew this day would come. I was not high in authority during the Precursor purge. I was a librarian. I came to know later why we purged them. By chance, I came upon Precursor flesh I was able to use to give myself a lesser immortality than them. I was held in high enough regard I could open about my immortality though when it happened.

Over the centuries, I learned the other disciplines of my civilization. Second I learned how to be a builder. Third, during the Human-Forerunner war I learned how to be a Warrior.

At the end of the war, having mastered all three disciplines, I was hailed as the Trifect. During this time, I pondered about the Mantle of Responsible. I pondered our actions, our ways. I had learned what the Precursors said that prompted their destruction by us.

"Not Worthy..."

They were going to exterminate and re-seed us. I can understand way we fought back, and I would support the action too. Our second mistake was scoffing at their judgement. I concluded, that we were indeed, "Not Worthy."

We didn't learn, we only got more arrogant more unworthy. Even our energy source is an upfront to the Mantle. The Vacuum Energy Harvester is what we use. A machine that interferes with the "big bang of realities and universes. Thus, stunting their creation and preventing life. Or in some cases, starting and restarting a universe over and over again. Our energy is harvested from deigned death yet we call ourselves stewards of life.

Hypocrisy!

Then I hear of the flood and see it all. The plague of a diseased Precursor will be the end of my civilization. I find it fitting, but it also cannot be allowed to consume all life in the galaxy. So I went to fight it along with the Didact.

The shield worlds delayed the Flood greatly, but didn't stop them. After centuries of war with the Flood, the Halo weapons system were proposed. Over the ages, our tier 1 civilization has begun to step into tier 0. The same tier of the Precursors. The Halo system would destroy everything, all life. It would even destroy the Precursor constructs within the 6th dimension. Constructs previously indestructible. We would all be erased too. The Librarians took care of the re-seeding plan. The Didact and I went back to war to give the builders enough time to make the weapon system.

Then the time came to activate the weapons. To increase progress, I would chip in to help build the weapon system too from time to time. During the final touches, I adjusted the rings attack as to where it will not destroy me. I would survive.

The Flood was on doorstep, and I pressed the red button you could say. Everything was gone, everyone was gone...

Now it was just me. First, I oversaw the re-seeding project. Once I saw that it was all done. I left my dead homeworld.

I of course had my own ship.

My dreadnaught "Aspiration".

I had made a new energy source for it. An antimatter time collider where matter is bent into my time and collided with antimatter bent into my time. Quiet a complicated technology, but I have reached Tier 0 already in these years. The Vacuum Energy Harvester technology was re-engineered and re-purposed. It was combined with my slipspace engine to allow me to undergo trans-universal and trans-reality travel.

It was time for me to leave. The age of my people are long gone. I have left gifts in the human genome for humanity. This way, the one's that were truly meant for the Mantle of this galaxy, will receive it.

I only have an ancilla with me now, Adjournment. All other personnel are just drones. I activate slipspace and enter the portal to another universe.

A new frontier, a new path. I don a smile has we sail into the dark portal.
