A wolf in the front and a tiger at the back!
Jiang Yi no longer knew what to do. He could only congeal as many rocks as he could at that moment and cause them to revolve around his body constantly. At the same time, he flew away as fast as he could.
Hoo-hoo!
It was a pity that his speed was far too slower than the Chaos Beasts. The Chaos Beast from underneath the lake immediately reached him, opening its huge mouth and spitting out a ball of deep blue gas. The ball of gas looked just like flames, but the water in the lake did not evaporate. Instead, the water that the ball of gas touched turned into ice. The ball of deep blue gas was moving extremely quickly, engulfing Jiang Yi in moments.
“What is this thing?”
Jiang Yi’s eyes widened. He was getting confused. These looked exactly like flames, and the Fire Spirit Pearl absorbed most of it as well. Yet, why was its temperature not high? In fact, it was turning the water into ice. He focused on his Fire Spirit Pearl and discovered that there were two distinct flames. Each of them seemed to be repelling the other. They did not even want to get close to each other.
Boom!
The Chaos Beast chasing him entered the lake, spraying water in all directions. On seeing the ball of deep blue gas that the other Chaos Beast spat out, a look of fear crossed its eyes. Jiang Yi caught that fearful look. His heart raced. Immediately, he stopped running. Instead, he turned toward the space in the middle of the beasts.
The underground lake looked boundless. Who knew it would be that big? Given his own speed, he would never be able to run away from the Chaos Beasts. Since he would die either way, he decided to try his luck. Perhaps he could cause the two beasts to start fighting each other and find an opportunity to slip away?
Jiang Yi’s choice was right!
The black Chaos Beast at the bottom of the lake, which resembled a hippopotamus, closed in quickly on Jiang Yi. On seeing that Jiang Yi was swimming toward the other beast, it hesitated. Its huge eyes focused on that beast in the distance.
These two were Primitive-Grade Chaos Beast. They had little to no intelligence, but they felt natural fear. This reminded Jiang Yi of rabbits seeing eagles in the sky. These two Chaos Beasts kept staring at each other. Neither of them paid any attention to Jiang Yi, who was standing in the middle.
Jiang Yi’s speed and attack were pitiful. The two Chaos Beasts naturally despised him. They only saw him as food. Jiang Yi had no escape route so he had no choice but to stand between the two Chaos Beasts. Yet, neither of them made a move for Jiang Yi. They only focused on each other.
Roar!
The two Chaos Beasts cried out at the exact same time, opening their huge mouths. One of them spat out a ball of red flames while the other spat out a ball of deep blue flames. Jiang Yi stayed between the two beasts, becoming the inevitable target of the two beasts.
Jiang Yi tensed up. He was extremely nervous. He was unafraid of these two types of flames, but standing in the middle of these two beasts and being engulfed by their pressure made him feel terrible. What’s more, he knew he could be killed at any moment. This was causing his blood pressure to surge. Suddenly, he wished he was much stronger than he was.
Pong-Pong!
The red flame hit Jiang Yi first, followed closely by the deep blue flames. On one side, the lake water turned into smoke while on the other side, the lake water turned to ice. At first, Jiang Yi’s body temperature rose significantly, but it started to freeze up when the next ball of flames hit him. His entire body felt covered in ice. He felt just like an ice block.
Both were flames, and both were absorbed by the Fire Spirit Pearl. There was no mistake about it: the ball of deep blue gas was made out of flames. Otherwise, the Fire Spirit Pearl would not be able to absorb it. Jiang Yi activated his heavenly powers and broke out of the ice. However, once again, the two Chaos Beasts spat out different flames. Jiang Yi was once again frozen.
“They can spit fire, but they must not get into physical fights!”
Jiang Yi decided not to move again. He was extremely afraid of angering the beasts. His greatest wish was that the two beasts would not stop spitting fire. Ultimately, he hoped that they would get frustrated with each other and retreat. That was the only way he would be able to survive.
Roar! Roar!
The two Chaos Beasts kept attacking each other. They spat balls of flames for a full five minutes, but all of these flames were absorbed by Jiang Yi. Both Chaos Beasts started to get tired and stopped their attacks. While surrounded by ice, Jiang Yi floated on the sea and kept his eyes wide open. He used the remnant light underground to study the two beasts closely.

“Chiefs, go back to your own homes if you’re tired.”
Jiang Yi kept mumbling to himself. He was extremely nervous now. The next moment, his heart sank. The two Chaos Beasts no longer used fireballs. Instead, they both charged at top speed toward him, threatening to shred him to pieces and eat him.
Bang!
Jiang Yi did not dare to play dead anymore. Using his heavenly powers, he summoned his Fire Dragon Sword. Using his sword light, he broke out of the ice. He did not dare to attack either side but began to swim toward the side instead. He wanted to see if the two Chaos Beasts would give up attacking him and move to kill each other instead.
On seeing his movement, the two Chaos Beasts acted as well. They both turned to chase after him. Both of them had sharp claws, and neither of them was spitting flames anymore. They kept waving their claws around as if wanting to rip him to shreds.
Bang!
He was a bit closer to the white jade lion with wings. That beast easily dealt him a hard blow. Jiang Yi’s Thousand Thearch Shield had just been summoned, and yet it was already thrown out of his hands from the impact. His body was pulled along with the shield. At that moment, he felt like a huge mountain was pressing down against him. All of his bones were broken, and fresh blood flowed out of his mouth.
“This strength is terrifying!”
His clear face was now twisted in pain. He could not even take a breath before the other hippopotamus charged toward him in a black flash of light. This time, it no longer waved its claw around. Instead, it opened its mouth wide, threatening to swallow Jiang Yi alive.
“Flames!”
At that moment between life and death, the cogs in Jiang Yi’s mind spun a thousand times faster. He thought of a way to save his own life. His Fire Spirit Pearl kept spitting out red flames as he struck downward with the Fire Dragon Sword. He used merged techniques to pull the red flames out, shooting them toward the open mouth in front of him.
The hippopotamus Chaos Beast was moving too fast, and its mouth was too huge. When Jiang Yi attacked it, the distance between them was only nine to twelve meters. At a distance like that, there was no more time for Jiang Yi to dodge anymore. Countless wind dragons dragged seven or eight balls of flame into the huge mouth.
Roar! Roar!
The most surprising thing occurred. Once the flames entered the hippopotamus’ mouth, it blew up, causing the hippopotamus to writhe in pain in the underground lake. Jiang Yi was swept away by the hippopotamus’ tail and thrown into the air.
“Pfff…”
Jiang Yi spat out a mouthful of blood. Looking at the hippopotamus Chaos Beast suffering unparalleled pain, his face turned into a mask of astonishment. He forgot his own pain momentarily.
Those two Chaos Beasts were of the same grade. Logically, their flames would not have such a huge effect on each other. The only explanation was this: both Chaos Beasts’ flames were opposites of each other. One was extremely hot while the other was extremely cold. Both Chaos Beasts were exact opposites Otherwise, their flames could not possibly cause this much damage to each other.
“Alright!”
Jiang Yi wiped the blood from his mouth, his eyes twinkling like a pair of stars. His Fire Spirit Pearl now contained both types of flames and at huge amounts at that. He no longer feared these beasts. Instead, he looked at both of them with killing intent.
The Chaos Beasts were so strong and huge. They must be worth a lot. If he could kill both of these beasts and drag their bodies back, he might be able to exchange them for a lot of divine roots.
Swish!
The white jade lion was flying toward Jiang Yi now. This time, the latter did not run away. Instead, he summoned his Thousand Thearch Shield to shield his front while he entered the State of the Union of Heaven and Man. The deep blue flames stirred in his Fire Spirit Pearl as he silently calculated the distance between him and the beast.
Three hundred meters, a hundred and fifty meters… thirty meters!
The Thousand Thearch Shield flew toward the right as Jiang Yi struck down the Fire Dragon Sword aggressively. Tens of formless wind dragons dragged a couple of balls of deep blue flames toward the white jade lion at once.
