“Pfff!”
In just two and a half minutes, Jiang Yi’s head was beginning to hurt. He was playing the guqin in a crazy manner, and his energy was being depleted extremely quickly. Many times, he wanted to stop. However, he knew that the moment he did, all the Sword Emanations Race beings would die at once. The Sword Emanations King might be destroyed as well. Thus, he kept going, playing the guqin maniacally.
More and more of the Sword Emanations Race beings were being destroyed. Before five minutes were up, more than half of the hundreds of thousands of Sword Emanations Race beings were already gone. Jiang Yi could only send the hundred thousand Sword Emanations Race beings around him out, leaving behind just one thousand to protect him.
At last…
The five minutes were up. The red light in the sky slowly dissipated, and everything turned back into darkness. After the red light disappeared, the Lunar Beasts all became insanely weak. Many Lunar Beasts quickly flew back underground, burrowing out of sight. The injured Lunar Beasts escaped as well, burrowing underground.
“Pfff!”
Jiang Yi spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed on his own guqin. He had spent a significant amount of energy, and he knew he would pass out at any moment. However, how could he afford to pass out now? Jiang Yi gritted his teeth and summoned the Sword Emanations King back before steering the remaining hundred thousand or so Sword Emanations Race beings back towards him and into the Wintry Pearl.
When he opened his blurry eyes to survey the surroundings, he saw a blanket of Lunar Beasts’ corpses, mixed with pieces of Sword Emanations Race beings. The corner of his lips twisted up in a bitter smile. That was hundreds of thousands of Sword Emanations Race beings. In just five minutes, they were ripped apart.
The five minutes that the red light covered the Purgatory Mystic Realm were indeed the scariest five minutes in here. Without the Sword Emanations Race beings or… without his guqin, Jiang Yi would not have been able to fight the Lunar Beasts. Perhaps he would have already been ripped into pieces by now.
Every twenty hours, the red light would appear once again. Each time the red light appeared, the Lunar Beasts would be awakened. A day in the Lower Domain was twenty-four hours long. If he had to stay here for three hundred Lower-Domain days, that means he would have to experience more than three hundred attacks by these Lunar Beasts!
One round alone could destroy hundreds of thousands of Sword Emanations Race beings. There were only nine million Sword Emanations Race beings left in the Wintry Pearl. How many rounds of Lunar Beast attacks could he fend off? Ten? Twenty? Thirty?
The Sword Emanations King led Jiang Yi towards the south as fast as it could as Jiang Yi closed his eyes, trying to recuperate and recover his energy. His heart became heavy as time passed. His only hope was that divine tree. If the divine tree did not offer much help to him, he would not have to wait for another round of Lunar Beast attacks. He would just find a spot underground to bury himself in.
The rain in the house seemed to be endless!
He had not flown long before another frustrating sound emanated from the ground. Jiang Yi’s soul spirit was being attacked once again. He was being kicked while he was down. If he had not been gripping the Sword Emanations King for his life, his body would have already dropped on the ground mid-flight.
Compared to the heart-wrenching pain coming from his own soul spirit, the Demonic Repellent posed much more of a threat to Jiang Yi. His heart dropped even more. The effect on him was far greater this time. He felt alone and hopeless. Out of his body emitted a deathly, depressed aura.
The Sword Emanations King continued to fly forward like a cold, dead puppet. Although the Sword Emanations King looked like a human, it was—in fact—a puppet. It would not have bothered about Jiang Yi’s emotions; neither would it chat with Jiang Yi. Much less would it lead Jiang Yi out of this valley.
Thus, even though he had hundreds of thousands of Sword Emanations Race beings around him, Jiang Yi felt like he was fighting this battle alone. He felt extremely lonely and pressured. There was a panic in his gut that caused him to feel insecure all the time. Just like that, his emotions ebbed and flowed.
The seeds that he had been planting in his mind were finally taking effect. After a while, light came back into his eyes. He had experienced so much hardship all these years. He was much stronger mentally and emotionally. Di Ling’er and Qi Qingchen’s characters were definitely not as strong as his!
He forced himself to perk up as he continued to mumble to himself, planting more seeds.

To him, the scariest thing about this Purgatory Mystic Realm was not the five minutes of red light but the Demonic Repellent. This thing could cause people to be defeated even before fighting. It depleted their energy and pushed them to the brink of a mental breakdown.
As Jiang Yi advanced on his journey, Lunar Beasts soon appeared again. Jiang Yi summoned Sword Emanations Race beings to hold them back and got the Sword Emanations King to fly faster so that they could escape. An hour later, Jiang Yi finally found the divine tree!
“This really is a divine tree!”
The divine tree was too easy to locate because it was huge. In an endless plain, this tree seemed to stand on its own. It looked as magnificent and eye-catching as the Saint Spirit Mountain. What’s more, the trunk and branches of this tree had divine light flowing in it. In the darkness, this light made the tree especially obvious. From fifty kilometers away, Jiang Yi could already see the divine brilliance of the divine tree.
This must have been the tallest tree that Jiang Yi had ever seen in his life. He guessed that it was several kilometers tall. Its branches stretched out in all directions, each one measuring more than five kilometers in length. However, this divine tree had no leaves on it. It looked bald from afar, but on its branches hung several leaves, which had similar divine light flowing through them.
The trunk of the divine tree looked to be at least hundreds of kilometers wide. The empty trunk had a wrinkled and rough outer layer, which had moss growing on it. Jiang Yi had no idea how long this divine tree had been around and how many generations it had witnessed.
“Uh…”
When Jiang Yi entered the area where the divine branches reached out towards, he immediately felt a difference. As the divine glow covered him, he felt inexplicable warmth in his heart. It felt like he was sitting in front of a fire on a cold winter night. Immediately, he felt rejuvenated. The depression and hopelessness that he felt just seconds ago were completely gone.
“This divine tree can overcome the Demonic Repellent!”
He got the Sword Emanations King to stop as he looked up at the tree, glowing with divine light. Awe filled his eyes. He felt like he was looking at his first love. The scariest thing about the Purgatory Mystic Realm was the Demonic Repellent. This divine tree could overcome that Demonic Repellent. Now, his chances of surviving would be greatly increased.
This really was a vast world filled with extraordinary things.
If he had not come here and had not stood under this tree himself and other people had told him about it, he would not have believed how magical this place was. He would have scoffed at whoever told him this. It was no wonder that the Wintry Sovereign did not explain too much about the divine tree. There was no explaining something like that. One had to stand under the tree and feel the warmth of the divine light covering him in order to understand this magical and mysterious thing.
“Go!”
The moment he was covered in the divine light, Jiang Yi immediately felt much braver. He did not need the Sword Emanations King to lead him any further. Instead, he flew towards the tree trunk where the divine light looked more rich and intense. If Jiang Yi could sit next to the trunk, he would feel much safer at once.
“Eh?”
After flying for a couple of kilometers, Jiang Yi suddenly fell downwards. He was astonished. The closer he got to the tree, the greater the gravity felt. He reached the ground and began walking towards the tree step by step. The Sword Emanations King was also being affected by gravity. It was flying much slower now. Jiang Yi summoned it down to the ground so that they could walk towards the tree together.
They neared the tree and felt the gravity get even more frightening. It seemed to be increasing exponentially. They had only walked five kilometers and still stood five kilometers from the tree trunk. However, it had become too tiring to walk. The gravity here was at least tens of thousands of times greater than that outside.
“Go!”
Jiang Yi gritted his teeth and endured the pain in his bones in order to advance forward. This divine tree was extremely strange. It could only mean one thing: the closer he got to the tree trunk, the safer he would be. Thus, even if he had to crawl, he had to make sure that he could make it there.
Five minutes later, Jiang Yi was indeed crawling. He was now one to two kilometers away from the tree trunk, and the gravity already felt a hundred thousand times worse than it was outside. Even the Sword Emanations King was walking much slower now. Jiang Yi continued to advance another five hundred meters or so before finally stopping in frustration.
It was not that he could not crawl any further. Instead, he was afraid that if the gravity got any stronger than this, the Sword Emanations Race beings would not even be able to move after he summoned them. Then, if the Lunar Beasts attacked him, how would the Sword Emanations Race beings defend him?
