“Affected by evil aura?”
Many people became confused. Was the evil aura that bad? They were not in the least bit affected. They even felt like they could remain in there for several days, much less just one day.
“Jiang Wuming!”
Many people quickly realized what happened. It looked like Jiang Yi’s strange characters helped them to cleanse the evil aura from their bodies without their knowledge. A Chaos Divine Boat stopped in the distance as Jiang Yi waved his hand and said, “Let’s go!”
The group flew over to the divine boat. Although they could fly back to their camp, they were all exhausted. If they met with an army of Netherworld Realm beings, they would probably be left to die in the void.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
One by one, the group flew towards the Chaos Divine Boat. The people inside looked at them strangely. Commander Hu was waiting for them in the back cabin as well. Jiang Yi waved his hand again, gesturing for his men to find their own seats. He walked over to Commander Hu and bowed, saying, “Lord Commander.”
“It’s good that you’re back. Remember to get back earlier next time.”
Commander Hu studied Jiang Yi closely for several seconds but did not ask any questions. Instead, he turned around and walked back to the front cabin coolly.
Jiang Yi ignored all the strange looks he was getting. He walked right into the middle of the crowd and sat cross-legged on the ground. The moment he sat, a voice transmission sounded in his head: “Captain Jiang, you remained in there for the entire day? The evil aura was so powerful and overbearing; we only dared to stay in there for half a day before we had to emerge to cleanse ourselves of the evil aura. How did you do it? What’s more… not a single one of you died?”
It was a Senior Captain who sent that voice transmission. This same man had treated Jiang Yi contemptuously just a day ago. Today, however, his tone was completely different. He was even sending a special voice transmission to Jiang Yi.
This was the type of people that Jiang Yi could not be bothered with. He casually replied, “I have a treasure in my hands that can fend off the evil aura. It’s probably our luck that nobody died today.”
“Captain Jiang…”
Soon, another Senior Captain sent a voice transmission to Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi activated his divine senses and swept the boat. He found that many teams lost a fraction of their men. Some teams lost one or two while others lost seven or eight. There were even some men who were lying unconscious on the ground. He immediately felt relieved. These people must have died because they could not withstand the evil aura or because the Netherworld Aura had overpowered them. At last, the Netherworld Realm beings must have gotten the chance to kill them.
He casually entertained the people who asked him questions and pushed all the credit to Zhang Danian. Many Senior Captains turned to look at Zhang Danian, to the point that the latter felt uneasy.
Seeing that Jiang Yi had no intention to cozy up to the rest of the Senior Captains, the Senior Captains stopped asking him so many questions, and each sat down cross-legged instead. Jiang Yi finally resumed cultivating. However, he did not dare to hold onto his divine tree leaf for fear that outsiders would spot it.
When they were on the way to conduct the mission, the group felt both nervous and curious. Now, however, they all felt comforted. Everybody focused on cultivating and secluded themselves until they arrived at their destination.
Yun Bing and the others were seated cross-legged at the interchange, waiting for their return. Once everybody got off their Chaos Divine Boat, she opened her eyes and scanned the group lightly. Her gaze paused on Jiang Yi and his team for several seconds, but she did not pay much attention to them otherwise.
“We’ll return to the camp!”

She got up and entered the Teleportation Formation, and the rest of the army soon followed suit in an orderly fashion. Once they arrived back at the army camp, the soldiers handed up their interspatial rings one by one. They were handing in the corpses of the Netherworld Realm beings. Jiang Yi personally entered the first castle to hand in the corpses he had in hand and claim his battle merits.
There were many Senior Captains inside that side hall, turning in the corpses they collected. When Jiang Yi entered, many of them turned to look at him. None of their expressions were kind. News had spread about the commotion Jiang Yi caused when he joined the Flying Feather Army. These Senior Captains secretly felt indignant towards fanatics like Jiang Yi.
Jiang Yi patiently waited for his turn. An hour later, his turn finally came. He handed all the interspatial rings in. There were three people seated at the desk. One of them was a Senior Commander, and the other two were managers whose jobs were specifically to keep a record of battle merits. The Senior Commander was probably here to supervise the process.
All spiritual imprints were undone on the interspatial rings. The managers could easily send their divine senses into the rings to look around. After searching all five or six inter-spatial rings, one of the managers said, “Three hundred and fifty Netherworld Generals and 1.96 million Netherworld Envoys.”
“En?”
The manager’s voice caused many heads to turn. Even the Senior Commander’s expression looked weird as he glanced at the anger and asked, “Did you count wrongly?”
Jiang Yi secretly laughed mirthlessly. When the Senior Captains were turning their corpses in, he heard all the counts. The most among them was several hundred thousand corpses. He, on the other hand, was handing in close to two million corpses. Of course, nobody would believe it.
The Senior Commander probably did not know that they remained in the Dark Heaven River, killing Netherworld Realm beings for the entire day. They did not even stop to rest. The other teams all had to come out intermittently to cleanse themselves of the evil aura. What’s more, they did not dare to go too deep into the Dark Heaven River. Naturally, they killed far fewer Netherworld Realm beings than Jiang Yi’s team.
“There’s no mistake, Lord Liang!”
The manager checked twice more and nodded confidently. The Senior Commander turned to Jiang Yi and said, “Captain Jiang, not bad. Keep working hard.”
“Thank you, Lord Liang.”
Jiang Yi bowed respectfully, claimed his battle merits, and walked out of the castle despite the shocked looks he got from many other people. Once Jiang Yi left, the hall immediately burst into a discussion. After all, the entire Flying Feather Army had gone out on the mission this time. There were a hundred teams in total. Jiang Yi’s team was the one that killed the highest number of corpses.
A team of new recruits, who just joined the Flying Feather Army, managed to surpass all the experienced soldiers. It was difficult to imagine that Jiang Yi’s team would not become famous after this. Although the mission this time was low-level and quite simple and they did not need to display formidable combat abilities, many teams still felt very embarrassed. In their hearts, they swore that they would beat Jiang Yi’s team in the next mission.
Jiang Yi was not too concerned either. Once he got back to his castle, he continued cultivating and threw everything else to Zhang Danian to manage. All along, he enjoyed being a jobless supervisor. Asking him to manage the daily affairs was expecting too much of him.
“More than two million battle merits? Not a single person died? They clearly performed the best out of all hundred teams?”
When Yun Bing heard the news, a sly smile spread across her face. She remained silent for several seconds and then gave instructions to Senior Commander Liang, “Do we have any missions on hand now, which are especially high-risk?”
“High-risk?”
Senior Commander Liang pondered for a moment and said, “When we accepted the mission previously, there seemed to be one to the Netherworld River Mystic Realm. It’s a seven-star mission; that’s why I avoided it. A lot of battle merits are being offered for this mission, but I’m afraid more than three thousand people from the Flying Feather Army would die if we accept it.”
“Let’s take it.”
Yun Bing said coolly. “Who would join the Nine Yang Army without expecting to die? If we don’t continue to train in the baneful aura mission after mission, they will never make it as soldiers of the Nine Yang Army. Rest for half a day and then accept that mission. I will personally lead the troops in battle!”
“Understood!”
Senior Commander Liang nodded. Yun Bing had high hopes for the Flying Feather Army. Naturally, nobody would defy her orders. What’s more, she had already decided to personally lead the troops in battle. That would mean that the death toll would not be so high this time.
However, this prediction did not apply to Jiang Yi’s team. New recruits were unfamiliar with the battle conditions. Their combined combat abilities would also be much weaker. The thought of going out on a seven-star mission immediately upon joining the army caused a chill to run down Senior Commander Liang’s back. These hundred people had stepped on the toes of Yun Bing, this little devil. Senior Commander Liang guessed that only a handful of them would survive this mission.
Of course, Senior Commander Liang did not think that Yun Bing was making a mistake. Just as she asked, who would join the Nine Yang Army without expecting to die? If they wanted to make a name for themselves in the army, they had to go out on a high-risk mission and survive. The Nine Yang Army’s battle skills were said to be the best in the Heaven Domain. They did not earn this reputation by merely bragging. They killed their way to the top.
