As the Young Prince saw his 8th name-day, the boy had become his mother’s source of pride. He had asked his mother to be taught writing and reading at a young age, his mother was doubtful at his ability to learn at first, but she relented, so she told the maester to teach the boy how to read and write, and much to everyone’s surprise, he learned it rather quickly.
Ever since the maester told his mother that his writing and reading lessons have been completed, the boy practically locked himself in his chambers, and he told his servants to bring him a lot of paper and ink. The servants were confused, they wanted to ask what for, but the prince had told them not to ask anything, so they did what they were told.
Eventually, his mother and his brothers got a hold of what the boy was doing, and they were curious as well, what can an eight year old boy do with bundles of scrolls and ink? At first, Oberyn asked his brother politely, he had asked what Morian was doing all day and night in his room, the boy only smiled, and said ‘I need to write it all down before I forget’. Oberyn was even more confused when the boy said that, so he came to his mother, and told what the boy had said to her.
Now, his mother is even more curious, so she told the servants to see it and bring what the boy has written to her. Not a day later, the servants came with a bunch of scrolls in their hands, the prince had given it to them much to his mother’s surprise, so she opened the scroll, and saw what was written in it. When the Princess of Dorne saw it, she was confused, it’s a tale, a tale about a fictional empire that bore the sigil of an eagle, she opened another one, it’s another tale about another empire that used a star spangled banner as its banner, and she opened another scroll, and another tale.
Oberyn was also reading the scrolls, and he was amused, he commented how talented his brother is if he wants to become a storyteller, he said that the story was so detailed, even how he described a battle was so detailed, but then he noticed something, the battle. It was so detailed, the tactics were so strange and unique that even Oberyn was interested in it. ‘It seems that Morian will be a gifted general in the future Mother, these tactics are unique and strange.’ said Oberyn to his mother. He looked at her, and saw that she was smiling while looking at the scrolls, proud of his own son.
