[Maester Walys’s Writings]

When we think about magic in Westeros, we think about the Targaryens, the dragon riders and their dragon blood. We maesters despise magic, to us, something we do not understand cannot be controlled, and therefore, deemed dangerous. Magic only brings suffering to Westeros, that is the truth, the Targaryens brought their dragons to our lands, burned our buildings, roasted our people, and ruled us with an iron fist. Their madness made us toys to be destroyed, cattles to be slaughtered if they ever felt the need to see blood. The Targaryens are a menace to Westeros.

We maesters have been planning on their downfall for centuries, who do you think started the dance of the dragons? Smallfolk? No. it was queen Alicent hightower and the hand of the king at that time, Otto Hightower, their whispers were ours, and our whispers were theirs. Who do you think incited the smallfolk to kill the dragons at that time? Us. Who do you think whispered to Daemon Blackfyre to start a rebellion? Us.

And now, we are trying to incite a rebellion again, we whispered to the lords of the north, the lords of the Stormlands, the lords of the riverlands, whispering the seeds of rebellion, but it was of no progress, while they were dissatisfied by the mad king’s actions, they didn’t rebel.

Until now.

Luck has helped us. Prince Rhaegar did the unthinkable of kidnapping Lady Lyanna of house Stark, it was not us, it was the prince’s doing alone. After the debacle of the tourney of Harrenhal, we would use that advantage to cite even more rebellious tendencies, with the Storm Lord’s temper, it was easy enough for us, but we didn’t need to do it at all, the prince did it himself.

The Wild Wolf was travelling to the Tullys to marry Lady Catelyn Tully, but when he heard that Lady Lyanna had been kidnapped, he rushed towards the capital, demanding that Rhaegar give back Lyanna to the family.

The mad king of course refused from his madness, and he imprisoned the Wild Wolf.

Soon, Lord Rickard Stark came to the capital, demanding a trial by combat to release his son and seeking justice for Lady Lyanna, the king agreed, he chose fire as his champion.

The Mad King did all the work for us, Lord Rickard died by wildfire, and the Wild Wolf Died of strangulation because he tried to save his father, and he demanded the heads of the storm lord and the quiet wolf from Lord Jon Arryn. Being an honourable man he was, lord Arryn refused, as they were his ‘foster sons’, and so, Lord Arryn, the Quiet Wolf, and the Storm Lord called their banners, The rebellion had started.

And so, the downfall of the Targaryens had begun.

[Doran’s Martell journal]

What I have feared has become a reality, Morian had told me many times about a rebellion, and he was right. A raven had come from the Vale, from Lord Jon Arryn, he had asked us for support and joined their cause, to rebel against the throne. That bastard of a prince did the unthinkable, he kidnapped Lady Lyanna Stark, while he already has a wife on his own, our sweet Elia, she even gave him two children, almost dying because of it, and yet the prince kidnapped a northern girl, and left her in the grasp of the mad king.

Of course I was furious, my wife who was a bit weak because of childbirth was furious, Oberyn who just came back from Volantis was furious, Ashara who was the lady-in-waiting of Elia for a while was furious. The Atmosphere is tense as of now in the Old Palace, even the servants knew what was going on, it was up to me to decide to bring Dorne to the side of the throne, or to the side of the rebels. I do not like war, war is terrible, and men must become terrible to wage it, but we have no choice, we can either fight to protect Elia, or fight to save Elia.
