After that overkill from Himeno Yuusha’s fight, the Battle Fiesta continued on and on. Some of the newbie fighters have hesitations in continuing this fight, but most of them still pursued to win. Gladiators and Kaisers are now more motivated to give it their all so that they won’t end up the same as Himeno Yuusha’s victims.

One of those who are slightly motivated is Raynevere and me. If this is just Battle Fiesta we are talking about, I would not continue this fight if it risks my fiance getting hurt. But as Kaisers and Gladiatrices, getting hurt is part of the sport.

Besides, we will lose everything if we turn our tails and be wuss. That is more true for Raynevere. Her clan’s legacy is on the line.

I looked at Raynevere who is focused on watching the TV screen. I slowly held her wrist which caught her attention.

“Hm? What is it, Elzane?” Raynevere tilted her head.

“I promise I will not let her hurt you,” I said.

Raynevere was stunned for a moment. Her cheeks went strawberry red, and then she shyly scratched them.

“You caught me off-guard there, hehe. You’re so sudden and sweet that made me blush.” Raynevere said softly.

Realizing my accidental guts, my face went red and I turned away. Darn, I just let my mind speak for itself that I’m so embarrassed.

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll protect you too. I will never let any of her pussy cat claws touch you!” Raynevere pumped her fist and then offered a high-five.

“Y-Yeah.” I clapped her hand albeit shyly.

Suddenly, our small sweet talk was interrupted when we heard our names from the TV screen showing the Battle Fiesta Board.

“The next fight will be between Gladiatrix Raynevere Treenity and Kaiser Elzane Chaldeas, against Gladiator Yorimitsu Akuya and Kaiser Shinsengumi Kuro!” The emcee shouted.

Raynevere and I nodded at each other and then we exited the backstage room.

The crowd cheered upon the entrance of the Kaisers and Gladiator/Gladiatrix. The arena is full of tension due to the liveliness of the audience.

The opponent Gladiator Yorimitsu Akuya is a person who is in full-clad samurai armor with a scary-looking demon mask. He is wielding bloodshot-red katanas in each hand, and every movement he makes unleashes a creepy metallic clang. According to the Gladiatrix System, the enemy Gladiator is a Cyber Samurai.

On the other hand, the opponent Kaiser is Shinsengumi Kuro- a middle-aged man with a long M-shaped mustache a shaved head, and a ponytail. He is wearing a kimono and there’s also a sheathed katana on his waist. Is he going to fight too? I’m pretty sure Kaisers are forbidden to attack.

“Let us fight with honor, Elzane Chaldeas-san, Raynevere Treenity-san.” Shinsengumi Kuro bowed politely, and his silent Cyber Samurai mimicked the gesture.

I just returned the gesture with a bow. I never thought that I will be talking anime with my opponent.

“Arigatou, Shinsengumi Kuro-kun, Yorimitsu Akuya-kun. Meiyo o motte tatakau.” Raynevere replied before I can ever talk.

“Ooooh. Anata wa bunka no otome desu.” The Kaiser praised my fiance.

“W-Wait, you can talk Japanese!?” I whispered to my Gladiatrix.

“Yep! I can speak seven more international languages!” Raynevere chuckled.

Raynevere is a well-cultured lady, alright. I’m so glad that I will be marrying her in the future. But there’s a hidden pain in my chest that tells me that I do not deserve her at all. She’s too talented for me!

“Contestants, are you ready!?” The emcee asked.

We answered in the form of action. We Kaisers activated our Kaiser Watches to project five hologram cards, while the Gladiator and Gladiatrix went to their battle stances. I took a deep breath before hearing the beep sound of the Gladiatrix System.

[Battle Start]

As soon as the battle commenced, the Cyber Samurai stomped his feet on the ground which shattered the arena. A red aura glowed from his twin katanas that gives a vibe of death. This will not be an easy battle.

To top it off, I do not have access to the Combo Sword Command Card. We will fight this the more traditional way.

I swiped my first Command Card and raised it high! “Activate Equip Card: Striker Wing!”

Raynevere jumped toward the air and cybernetic wings sprouted from her back. As we witness her flight in front of the full moon, we all realized that the Cyber Elf right above us is more like a fairy.

Raynevere’s purple eyes glowed and then she aimed her bow toward the opponent Cyber Samurai! With a swift hand swipe, three energy arrows started diving toward the enemy!

The samurai wordlessly swayed his sword. For the first swing, he slashed the first energy arrow into two! For the second swing, he parried and redirected the arrow’s trajectory! For the third swing, he deflected the glowing projectile!

Suddenly, the opponent Kaiser raised his first Command Card!

“Our turn, Kuro! Activate Skill Card: Cross Tornado!”

The Cyber Samurai crossed his two blades and then charged forward with exponential speed! In an instant, his body became a drill-shaped hurricane that chased the winged fairy from above!
